Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Sequel Announced for 2016 After Big Opening
After conquering the box office in its debut weekend, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles is officially getting a sequel.
Paramount announced on Sunday that producer Michael Bay will return for the second installment in the franchise reboot.
Josh Appelbaum and André Nemec will again write the script, though it is not yet known if director Jonathan Liebsman is also on board.
“Launching a new take on the Turtles into the feature film world was a daunting task because as fans of them ourselves, we felt a great responsibility to ensure audiences were going to experience everything they loved about the Turtles, while also getting to see them brought to life in a way they had never been seen before,” Adam Goodman, President of Paramount’s Film Group, said in a statement.
Goodman went on, “The result exceeded our high expectations and the response to the film is beyond great, making it all the more fun to get started on the continuation of their story.”
The new movie is slated to hit theaters on June 3, 2016.
