Ted Nugent is sorry (sort of) for calling President Obama a “subhuman mongrel,” although he still isn’t willing to apologize directly to the Commander-in-Chief.

The rocker was widely criticized in January when he attacked the President for being “a Chicago communist-raised, communist-educated, communist-nurtured subhuman mongrel.”

Now Nugent is backing off those remarks — to a degree.

Speaking to Dallas radio host Ben Ferguson on Friday, Nugent said, “I did cross the line. I do apologize — not necessarily to the president — but on behalf of much better men than myself.”

The famously right-wing rocker also added that he regrets “using the street-fighter terminology of ‘subhuman mongrel’ instead of just using more understandable language, such as ‘violator of… the Constitution…. the liar that he is.’”
