Taylor Swift Wins Video Of The Year At VMAs: Watch Acceptance Speech!
Taylor Swift won Video of the Year for “Blank Space” at the 2015 MTV Video Music Awards on Sunday. Check out the video below!
As Gossip Cop previously reported, Swift went into the VMAs as night’s most-nominated artist. She led the pack of nominees with 10 different nods, something that caused a bit of controversy last month when Nicki Minaj ranted about not earning a Video of the Year nomination for her “Anaconda” clip. Swift felt personally attacked by Minaj’s tweets, leading to a mini-feud that eventually ended when Swift apologized, and the two artists making peace via a private phone call.
Swift ultimately won several of the awards she was nominated for, including Best Pop Video and Best Female Video. It was at the end of the ceremony that Swift found out she also won the year’s biggest award for “Bad Blood” featuring Kendrick Lamar. Joined by her “squad” from the video, Swift brought all her pals on stage.
In her acceptance speech, Swift said, “This was such a collaborative effort. These women helped create their parts… I love them so much, and the fact that the fans, the fact that you would vote and give us this bonding experience that we’ll have forever, thank you from the bottom of my heart.”
“There’s been a lot of talk about this video and what it means,” she continued. “I’m just happy that in 2015 we live in a world where boys can play princesses and girls can play soldiers.” Swift’s speech was rather short, at least compared to Kanye West, who spoke for an extremely long time earlier after Swift presented him with the Video Vanguard Award.
Prior to the VMAs ceremony, Swift’s “Wildest Dreams” video premiered during the pre-show, and the clip was helmed by Joseph Hahn, the same director responsible for “Bad Blood” and “Blank Space.” Gossip Cop will have video of the superstar accepting her big award shortly. Check out the clip below!
