Taylor Swift Encourages Fans To Take Pledge For Parity On International Women’s Day
Taylor Swift is encouraging her fans to take a pledge for women’s equality in honor of International Women’s Day.
On Tuesday, the superstar asked her 72.5 million followers to stand with her in the fight for equal pay and status for women. “So grateful and inspired today. Take the Pledge For Parity,” Swift tweeted. She also posted an image of the vow, “I pledge to help women and girls achieve their ambitions.” That is one of the pledge options, which also include promising to “challenge conscious and unconscious bias,” “call for gender-balanced leadership,” “value women and men’s contributions equally,” and “create inclusive, flexible cultures.”
Swift was just one of many stars to take the Pledge For Parity on International Women’s Day. Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice star Gal Gadot also tweeted, “#PledgeForParity today.” And actress Gillian Anderson wrote, “Here’s to all of us. May we continue the fight for gender equality #pledgeforparity #IWD2016.”
As Gossip Cop reported earlier, a number of other celebrities also took to social media on Tuesday to celebrate and commemorate the important day. Ariana Grande wrote that she hopes the celebration will continue for a lifetime, saying, “happy international women’s day! ….. I mean week……. I mean month…… I mean year……. I mean life…..” Taking the pledge, as Swift urged, could be the first step.
