Taylor Swift Donates $250,000 To Kesha
Taylor Swift has donated $250,000 to help Kesha, who on Friday had a motion to let her out of her contract with Dr. Luke. While many celebrities have verbally expressed their support for Kesha, who alleged the music producer sexually assaulted her, Swift has gone the extra mile by sending Kesha a quarter of a million dollars.
In a statement furnished to Gossip Cop Swift’s rep confirms, “In a show of support, Taylor Swift has donated $250,000 to Kesha to help with any of her financial needs during this trying time.” In addition to not releasing new music because of her ongoing litigation with Dr. Luke, who she accused on drugging and raping her, Kesha has also racked up hefty legal bills. The music producer has vehemently denied the sexual assault charges.
As Gossip Cop reported, following the judge denying Kesha’s motion to be released from her record deal, the singer fled a New York courthouse in tears. The judge, in her decision stated, “You’re asking the court to decimate a contract that was heavily negotiated and typical for the industry,” adding, “There has been no showing of irreparable harm.”
But apparently enough other musics felt there was tremendous harm. After the verdict, a number of artists, including Lily Allen, Kelly Clarkson, Demi Lovato, and Lady Gaga tweeted their support. And Ariana Grande, for example, wrote, “My heart is with @KeshaRose.” Swift has now shown her wallet is with Kesha, too.
