Taylor Swift on Katie: “I Don’t Really Know That Much About Love” (VIDEO)

Taylor Swift appears on “Katie” on Friday, and the pop star opens up about her love life being in the spotlight and how some of her famous exes feel about her music.

When asked by Katie Couric whether any of those past loves have called her up to complain about her very personal songs, Swift reveals, “Well, some of them like to write really long emails.”

The singer refrains from naming names, but shares a very telling reaction when Couric points out that John Mayer said Swift “humiliated” him with her song “Dear John.”

“Oh, come on,” she replies.

Couric also tells Swift that fans concluded her single “We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together” is about her ex Jake Gyllenhaal because of a scarf she wears in the video — and she doesn’t exactly deny it.

“I don’t read anything about myself,” says Swift, “so I didn’t know that that was a thing that people figured out.”

Swift acknowledges, however, that even though she avoids reading tabloids, the media can still impact her relationships, especially the romantic ones.

“I don’t know how to have a normal relationship because I try to act normal and love from a normal place and live a normal life, but there is sort of an abnormal magnifying glass, like [a] telescope lens, on everything that happens between me and anybody else,” she explains.

Swift adds, “I don’t really know that much about love, it turns out.”

    Her entire career now revolves around talking/singing about guys she dated and using it for publicity. She goes on and on about love like someone in high-school (who can’t tell the difference between real love and infatuation). It’s kind of creepy now that she’s continued that act into her early twenties.

    Alanis Morrisette and Fiona Apple made some incredible albums when they were younger than her that dealt with relationships in a much more mature manner. She doesn’t necessarily have their talent, but it’s time to grow up.

    obviously she doesn’t know anything about love. i mean 90% of her songs are about her ex’s… she obviously can’t keep a man. i’m going to feel bad for Conor if he ever breaks up with her. i used to like her, but then it got too much. she needs to move on!

    This is the first time I think she started to sound like she’s maturing a bit about romantic relationships. I’ve always liked her but did find her to sound even younger than she is (which is still very young) when it came to romantic relationships. But, amazingly she’s sounding more mature after dating a high school age kid rather than the guys that are older than her. She hit it big at a very young age and she’s very talented, but I don’t think she ever got to experience relationships in the same way others her age did (even other female musicians like Fiona Apple and Alanis Morrisette when they hit it big young) because of the relentless media spotlight. Fiona and Alanis didn’t have that at the time they hit it big – celebrities had a bit more privacy then. I know she creates a spotlight by writing about it, but she writes about what she knows.
