Taylor Swift, Tom Hiddleston Relationship Fake?
OK! blares in a headline, “Fake Relationship? Tom Hiddleston Walks Solo Into New York City Hotel! Why Isn’t He Staying At Taylor’s?” To be clear, the tabloid is accusing Hiddleston and Swift of being in a “fake” romance because he entered a hotel by himself. Apparently the publication believes that for the new relationship to be authentic, the actor should only be staying at the singer’s apartment.
“Taylor Swift’s new beau Tom Hiddleston was spotted returning to the ‘Crosby’ hotel after a gym visit in Soho, New York City on June 18 but Taylor was nowhere in sight,” writes the magazine. Again, to be clear, OK! is alleging the apparent new couple’s relationship is “fake” because Swift wasn’t with Hiddleston when he entered a hotel. Gossip Cop wasn’t aware two people had to be together 24/7 in order to be dating.
So, what other poof does the tabloid have that Swift and Hiddleston’s relationship is fake? Uh, that would be none. The rest of the piece merely regurgitates last week’s sighting of the stars, and notes how she recently split from Calvin Harris.
And though OK! proclaims to be a celebrity news outlet, this isn’t journalism. It’s an online photo gallery designed to lure readers with a provocative headline that would allow the magazine’s website to gain traffic as users click through slides to read about a premise that isn’t substantiated. It’s all about being sensational to capitalize on the attention surrounding Swift and Hiddleston right now, much like its sister publication RadarOnline has done.
Swift and Hiddleston’s apparent new romance could end up being short-lived. But the actor staying at a hotel and walking in alone is hardly evidence that the relationship is “fake.”
