Taylor Swift Halfway Towards EGOT With Emmy Win
Taylor Swift is halfway to an EGOT after being announced as an Emmy winner on Thursday. The singer won for Original Interactive Program for her “AMEX Unstaged: Taylor Swift” special. Though announced early, the actual award will be handed out on Saturday at the Creative Arts Emmy Awards.
As you’ll recall, “AMEX Unstaged: Taylor Swift,” which debuted the video for Swift’s hit “Blank Space,” allowed the Grammy winner’s fans to have unparalleled access to, as well as an interactive experience with the over-the-top mansion and sets used for the shoot. Thanks to 360-degree cameras, fans could immerse themselves in the different rooms and plots that were part of the video for “Blank Space.”
A number of other Emmys were announced on Thursday, including the award for Social TV Experience. Jimmy Fallon and “The Tonight Show” took home that award for successfully melding the experiences of TV with social media.
Swift and Fallon’s juried awards were decided by a group of professionals who have the latitude to give Emmys for a few categories without a nomination process. As noted earlier, the Creative Arts Emmy Awards are on Saturday and will be followed by the Primetime Emmys on September 20.
