Taylor Swift: I Was “Shamed” Into Not Dating
Taylor Swift believes she was “shamed” into not dating because of the constant media attention surrounding her relationships. The pop star, who has become known for her catchy breakup songs, says that her love life making the news has led to “public humiliation.”
“There is no easy way for me to engage with romance,” says Swift in a new interview with Glamour UK. She adds, “I’m really busy, so I can’t. And it’s a good thing that I feel really independent and I feel that my friends are all I need.”
Swift says she came to this “sad” realization because she was “shamed into it.” The singer notes, “What else is it when you have two boyfriends in one year and everyone’s calling you boy crazy, making jokes about you at awards shows? That’s public humiliation. And I don’t think it’s fair.”
Swift’s last relationship was with One Direction member Harry Styles. The two split in January 2013 after a few months of dating. In the past, she’s also been linked to Jake Gyllenhaal, John Mayer and Conor Kennedy. Most recently, the pop star is believed to be dating Calvin Harris.
