The Taylor Swift song “Blank Space” has apparently surfaced online. It is one of the tracks from her highly anticipated new album 1989, which will be released on October 27.

Swift’s lyrics in the song’s refrain seem to tread on the familiar territory of “ex-lovers.” Based on published reports, the refrain reads: “I have a long list of ex-lovers, they’ll tell you I’m insane… But I got a blank space baby. And I’ll write your name.” We’re told the song, which is part of Swift’s transformation from country-pop to pure pop, is an attempt by the singer-songwriter to mock herself and reputation for being a serial dater. The tongue-in-cheek tune spoofs how she’s portrayed in the media for getting back at ex-boyfriends by writing vindicative songs.

On Thursday night, Swift effectively shut down Hollywood Boulevard in Los Angeles when she performed her hits “Shake It Off,” and “Out Of The Woods” in front of more than 15,000 fans outside of Jimmy Kimmel’s studio. In an interview prior to her performance, Swift told the talk show host that because of her “irrational fear of eavesdropping,” anyone who wanted to hear 1989 had to listen to it off of her phone.
