Taylor Swift’s ‘Teardrops On My Guitar’ Subject Andrew Hardwick Arrested For Child Abuse
Taylor Swift’s high school crush, Andrew Hardwick, who is the subject of her song “Teardrops On My Guitar,” was arrested for child abuse on Saturday in Hendersonville, Tennessee. He was taken into custody after striking little girls.
According to The Tennessean, Hardwick was apprehended alongside his wife, Joni, after a 3-year-old girl whom they were looking after had to be airlifted to a children’s hospital for a head injury. A 5-year-old girl, who was also under the care of Hardwick and his wife at the time of the incident, reportedly told a witness that he had hit both her and the 3-year-old in the face. The younger girl suffered a concussion, in addition to “severe bruising and swelling to the face,” and was reportedly still in the hospital as of Monday.
Prior to the arrests, a relative named Christopher Hardwick, who was also in the house, called the police after noticing blood on Andrew Hardwick’s hands. When the cops arrived, Christopher “appeared intoxicated” and acted “belligerent” towards the authorities, “screaming that a child was assaulted.” He later divulged to the police that both he and Andrew Hardwick had been heavily drinking all day.
Hardwick was charged with “aggravated child abuse,” while his wife Joni was booked for “assault on an officer and resisting arrest.” Both have since been released from jail on bonds and are scheduled to appear in court in February. Meanwhile, Christopher was cited with “assault and disorderly conduct.”
In Swift’s hit song, “Teardrops On My Guitar,” Hardwick is referred to as “Drew,” a boy she likes but who doesn’t notice her. Gossip Cop will update as we gather more information about the child abuse investigation.
