Lautner Lawyer Slams RV Company’s Push-Up Challenge

Truth rating: 10

Taylor Lautner‘s lawyer is calling a RV company’s offer to settle the actor’s lawsuit with a push-up contest a “facetious suggestion.”

Lautner filed a breach-of-contract lawsuit last week against McMahon’s RV, alleging they failed to deliver a customized $300,000 trailer as promised.

“McMahon RV’s response to our client’s legitimate claim further demonstrates the lack of professionalism that Mr. McMahon, his company and his employees have exhibited from the outset, and that compelled the filing of this lawsuit in the first place,” Lautner’s attorney, Robert Barta, said in a statement.

Instead of resolving the suit with a push-up challenge, Barta suggested that the company’s owner, Brent McMahon, donate the $40,000 Lautner is suing for to a charity of the Twilight actor’s choice.

McMahon had vowed that should he win the contest, the money would go to the Children’s Hospital of Orange County.

It is not yet known whether McMahon will accept the new offer.

I think this is the first time you’ve reported on this from an unbiased/noninflammatory angle.

As for McMahon, he’s an idiot for that challenge. If this is the type of behavior he exudes while under a lawsuit, I can only imagine what he runs his business like.

hahahaha!! Mr Lawyer guy, your client STILL looks like a whinny little b*tch!! You blew it&you know it; I blame Tay’s father, the man can not&should not manage Tay’s career&affairs; and for all Tay fans, come on guys, GossipCop never said anything against Taylor, they always just state the facts; but I understand that this situation pisses you off&you want it forgotten, cause it makes Taylor look like a Hollywood brat; don’t know if Ray’s a diva, but his Dad certainly is!

  • Saras

@ILW – seriously? Gossip Cop has not taken sides at all. Just because TayTay’s suit went public, and they reported it, doesn’t mean they’re negative. In fact, if you look at their previous posts, they’ve very supportive of Taylor. You can’t please everyone, Gossip Cop. Keep up the good work!

  • waterfan

@saras I have been following this story and Gossip Cop HAS been biased and tabloid-like in their coverage of this lawsuit. They have NOT stuck to the facts at all but have been presenting it with a negative slant. They have refused to do any real investigation on the FACTS of the case instead just copying and pasting whatever other gossip sites have up. The lawsuit is on the web but they refuse to read it and report it. They didn’t even give Taylor’s lawyer’s full report which shows that this company is in trouble with the Better Business Bureau for multiple complaints by other clients.

The guy signed a contract to pay $300,000 for the delivery of an old RV in working condition. The RV was delivered late and was never fix so was unsafe to drive and operate. Taylor tried getting his money back from the company, they refused. He took them to court for Breach of Contract and Fraud. Gossip Cop reported the story as ‘Taylor Lautner suing for emotional distress after not getting his tricked-up trailer’. They made it sound like he was some brat complaining about not getting his gold chain. This was an RV for work related purposes, Taylor kept his side of the bargain and he got screwed by this company. Now they are being super unprofessional by changeling him to a stupid competition.

  • FairAndBalanced

Call me crazy, but isn’t it the consumer’s responsibility to research a company before doing business with them? Shouldn’t Taylor have checked the company’s reputation with the Better Business Bureau before the contract was signed? That’s what I do. I’m not saying he doesn’t deserve his trailer or that the company isn’t at fault. But if he was a more diligent consumer, this whole thing could’ve been avoided.

And, wasn’t “emotional distress” the legal term used in the lawsuit? Isn’t that part of the grounds on which he is suing? How you interpret the phrase and think it makes him look is up to you, but if that’s the legal phrase involved, it’s fair game to use it.

  • MissZee

it isn’t Taylor’s job really…it’s his agents job to know all the facts before being a part of a company

  • dianneB

Of course he shouldnt! Brent Mcmahon is so unprofessional, Taylor’s lawyers got it exactly right, well said. He’s so crazy for proposing that ridiculous settlement. I cant even believe Mcmahon’s lawyer agreed with him n went through with it! They’re both immature idiots! Get ready to lose your business Brent Mcmahon cause u sure will lose a whole lot of customers. Taylor Lautner is practically worshipped and he’s going around saying things like that, stupid stupid move. Act your age,old man!

  • CrazyCelebJustice

How is GC’s biased? Give it a rest, this is Taylor Launter not Jacob Black! Launters lawsuit may very well be legit but he comes off sounding whiney and crybabyish with the whole emotional distress bit.

  • jenny

Lautner’s suing for “emotional distress” and “annoyance” not because a trailer was not delivered. It was delivered and it just wasn’t fancy enough for him. There’s no way to spin this that doesn’t make him look like an entitled brat throwing a tantrum because he didn’t get the shiny toy he wanted.

  • waterfan

Oh really Jenny? Can you tell us what page of the lawsuit did it say Taylor is suing because the trailer wasn’t “fancy enough for him”. Ignorant people like you should just keep your mouth shut when you have the chance. You obviously know nothing about this case. I don’t blame you for your ignorance, Gossip Cop did nothing to actually lay out the FACTS of this case so idiots like yourself go around pretending you know what’s going on when you have no idea what the case is about. I would hate to see how you function in life.

  • Chloe

I have to totally agree with waterfan and others. I’m very disappointed in how GC has been reporting on this issue, they did make it out to seem as if Taylor was being a whinny little brat. That is unfortunate…..To others seriously It has NOTHING do with the fictional character Taylor play in a movie…It is about what is right and what is wrong and the RV company and owner’s stupid challenge are just plain wrong. I hope Taylor sues the pants off of this guy…he can do his push-ups in his skeeves…

  • monica17

its just not good to bash taylor.he is a sincere person and chosen a right decision of suing.its just totally not professional from company’s side.he was paying 30,000$ for it.he was not satisfied from their work, so he has right to sue them.go taylor, your fans are with you .go kick that manager’s stupid ass.

  • CrazyCelebJustice

hahahaha! Perhaps GC needs to just donate their entire site to Taylor news. Geez Waterfan, calm down. Because someone choses to voice their own opinion and they dont agree with you, doesnt make them ignorant. Perhaps you would be happy at a Launter fan site. All Launter, all day.
I’m just thankful we have GC to come to for accurate information.
