Taylor Lautner in “emotional distress” lawsuit from trailer

Truth rating: 10

(GettyImages.com)

Taylor Lautner is suing over trailer troubles.

The Twilight hunk says in court papers that he struck a deal with an Irvine, Calif., company called McMahon’s RV to buy a fully loaded trailer to use as a dressing room while shooting the film, Abduction.

According to Lautner’s breach of contract lawsuit, the $300,000 trailer was supposed to be delivered by June 21.

It wasn’t.

Now the star is claiming, as a result, that he’s suffering from “emotional distress,” and is seeking unspecified damages.

i like this actor…but how is it emotional distress?

  • kate

You go Taylor! You show people you’re the real star not Rob! At least Taylor is man enough to stand up for what he believes in. I’m so proud.

  • al1102

Rob and Kristen are being chased around LA and have to ask the police for help getting home. The paps are making their lives a literal hell, and this kid is complaining because his luxury trailer isn’t delivered on time. Oh, poor baby!! I feel so sorry for you. After Abduction and all the other stupid Disney movies he’s going to be stuck staring in fail at the box office, he’s going to be lucky if he can find a trailer to live in. Suck it up, Tom Cruise Jr.

  • rkdaily

We love you for fully explaining R/K stories, so please explain that “emotionally distressed” is a legal term.
Emotionally distressed = not satisfied. Which is completely understandable when something isn’t fulfilled. Taylor paid money for something and didn’t get it, end of story.

  • MissZee

i know what the term means….but why should he be? he’s making a $hitload just by being in Twilight

  • Irishgirl

It’s the principle of the matter. He paid, they promised, they didn’t deliver. More than likely, Lautner has tried to get the money back, and they haven’t cooperated. The next option is to sue. Just because he’s famous and has quite a bit of money doesn’t mean it’s ok to rip him off. He has the same rights as anyone else who paid for a service and didn’t get what they paid for.

  • al1102

Kate are you delusional or 12 years old? Maybe you’re both! No one over the age of 12 would find Taylor attractive or use the word man and his name in the same sentence. When his abs go, he won’t be getting a single call from anyone in Hollywood. The way it is now, they have to shoot him at the right angle so we don’t have to see his huge nose full on(see picture above) and he has to stand on a box in all his scenes, especially when he works with Rob. :) If whining and complaining about not getting a trailer makes you proud of him, then I really and truly feel sorry for you.

  • MissZee

awww don’t knock Taylor down..he’s a good-looking guy…just because you don’t find him attractive, doesn’t mean someone else won’t..also, I think he will get calls for Hollywood even if he were to lose his abs

  • waterfan

@al1102 I am nowhere near 12 and I find Taylor Lautner very, very good-looking. I have no attraction for Robert Pattinson, people are different. Sounds like YOU are the 12 year old if you can’t figure that out. Lots of people moon over Pattinson’s hair and face, those aren’t body parts? When his looks go away I guess HIS career will too right? You are an idiot. Anyway Taylor paid $300,000 for a trailer ahead of time, he specified that they fix it up with a set delivery date. It’s 2 months later and they didn’t live up to their agreement. It’s breach of contract, he has a right to sue. Why shouldn’t he? Should he sit around like a stupid boy and let people defraud him? Half of the haters on this subject would attack somebody if their Big Mac arrived late. Let alone shelling over $300,000. I am happy he stood up to those people. If you don’t like him, stop reading stories about him and head on over to Robsten land. Easy enough for a brain dead person like yourself. And yes, emotionally distress is just a legal term that lawyers add into suites all the time. It doesn’t mean he is sitting around crying his eyes out. They guy has been working night and day while you losers sit around trying to judge him. Get a life!

  • waterfan

P.S. Gossip Cop. Shame on you for not explaining this story better. The court documents are on-line, it’s not hard work telling Taylor’s side of this argument. Except you just state a few facts without clarifying anything.

  • carla

I think this site only discovers the truth about events that relate Robsten?

  • MissZee

actually…Taylor is 18 so be law he is LEGALLY considered a man…smartass remark? i know…but just sayin. but you have to admit, he has a killer smile

  • waterfan

Well according to the Washington post: he requested a 2006 Affinity Country Coach RV. Radar-on-line reports that he had to buy his own trailer because the producers of his film weren’t going to provide one. He paid ahead of time for the tailer but the McMahons didn’t deliver it when they had promised. And when delivered, it had safety issues and wasn’t operational. Unless there is more to it, Taylor is going to win. http://www.radaronline.com/exclusives/2010/08/taylor-lautner-sues-dude-wheres-my-trailer

  • ILW

    @rkdaily

Thank you for stating the obvious. Taylor’s lawyers are using “emotional distress” in the legal sense of the term. It is sad that Taylor can’t get the same respect from GC as R/K. I thought they prided themselves on bringing fact to readers, not sensationalized garbage. I was obviously wrong.

I guess Taylor should be ok with being swindled out of more than a quarter million dollars, GC? Is that what you’re trying to say?

  • twilightlover.girl

this is so pathetic . he seemed like the guy above this. that would be me suing amazon over a late delivery and claming i have . emotional distress
    emotional distress = diva tantrum

  • babybubblegum

    This is funny XD

Poor baby hasn’t got his fancy dressing “room” or dressing “mansion”.

  • musicadhd

First of all, Kate, I understand you are (obviously) a fan of Taylor, but how is him suing a company that didn’t fulfill their part of an agreement make him the “real star”? Your preference is your preference and there’s no problem with that. But, I’m not seeing how that means he’s “standing up for what he believes in.” It’s just him wanting to get what he paid for. He’s not out protesting against animal abuse or something.

And anyway, I’m trying to figure out why this is turning into a Robert vs. Taylor thing when Robert Pattinson has nothing to do with this. They are both talented actors that have so much potential of becoming even better actors and they both have large fan bases. They just happen to be two people who play natural enemies in a fantasy movie. Not everything involving one of the two should result in 15 skrillion reasons why one is better than the other or whatever. Other than Twilight, they have nothing in common. Can we please except the difference?

As for my opinion on the matter, reading the headline, at first, I was kind of like ‘um, that sounds a little diva-like to me’ because the term ‘emotional distress’ is misleading and I’m in no way up on legal jargon. But, after the explanation, I believe that I’d do the same thing if I were in his shoes. Especially, if I had tried to get my money back and they didn’t comply with my request (if that’s the scenario). I agree with the Irishgirl. Millionaire or not, he has the right to get what he paid for. $300,000 isn’t a joke. I do believe that GC should have done a better job explaining the details.

  • selia

@waterfan Relax girl… maybe all taylor fans are not teens BUT the majority of his fans are TEENS! Deal with it.

and seriously now, everyone knows that after New Moon people acts like ‘shut up and take of your shirt’ etc.
Taylor = just a body (for now…) I dont find him attractive at all but i think he is a nice kid.. I wish him luck with his future films.

@ kate What are you, 12? Why do you drag Rob into the discussion? Why does he have to do with anything? Stop piting these two against each other. Grow up kid!

I have to say I was so happy when I found Gossip Cop. I felt that they always got to the truth of the matter. In this instance I am very disappointed in the way this story is told. GC always downs Perez, and rightfully so, he is the worst, but this article sounds just like something he would write. Right down to the “What do you think about this?” except on Perez it would say “Thoughts?” Shame on you GC you should have reported the whole story and not made it sound like Taylor was being a Whiney Boy. Even though your story is true, you reported in a way that was very derogatory towards Taylor, when it is truly just an issue of paying for something he did not receive. I find that a little childish, who’s the 18 year old her, you or him?

  • Chloe

GC I have to say I’m very disappointed in you of late. You go into great detail about Rob and Kristen almost as if you are defending their every move. Like you are getting paid to do so. I’m glad some of the posters are calling you out. You are too busy trying to put down (Perez) I get it….there is no love lost there. But, I’m extremely glad the posters are calling you out on not fully explaining this article on Taylor. As Paula put it …you are making Taylor sound like a crying child and someone peed in his milk. What is up with you lately? I use to love this site but you are now just “gossip” I think you are going to have to drop the “cop” part real soon.

Taylor paid over 30k for a tailor (I don’t care how much money you have…that is a lot of money). It was not supplied with the features he requested, and it also had several safety issues not to mention it was delivered late. What would you do…let it go….I don’t think so…..

  • carla

has more for people who are criticizing him, lend me $ 300,000
I warn I will not pay, so good huh
I’m sure you will understand this, and will forgive me, I’m sure!
    you guys are awesome!! lol

  • Breeze27

He (or his people) should have just listed “breach of contract” in the lawsuit. That would have been totally acceptable without anyone freaking out. But “emotional distress” and “annoyance” just make him look and sound like a diva.

  • http://www.facebook.com/people/Michael-Smith/100000419793802 Michael Smith

I agree with Paula Lynch above. This story was poorly researched and provocatively written.

It is not unreasonable or inappropriate for the lawyer who filed the suit to use the legal term of “emotional distress,” particularly one about an 18 year old having to bear the weight of a multi-million enterprise over the course of only a few weeks — while being ripped off for a third of a million, while being unable to have a place to study and prepare to do his job, change his clothes, or even use the restroom without being accosted by screaming fans.

For a business that prides itself on integrity, it seems you blew it on this one. We expect more from you.

  • http://www.facebook.com/people/Tricia-Valadez/100000792946997 Tricia Valadez

Emotional distress? Awwww….poor you! Don’t worry, though, your Twihards will seek revenge, for sure.

Next time, include a “deliver on time or forget it” clause.

  • bobstone

there is an olded saying guys with a huge nose has a huge dick

  • http://www.facebook.com/people/Jessica-Moran/679045672 Jessica Moran

This is Ridiculous, why is every one making this into a Rob -v- Taylor thing? Robert Pattinson isn’t even mentioned in this! lol and calling Taylor names and then insulting GC? Seriously, get a life, people! lol
I’m not a fan of Taylor, and i NEVER comment on these stories, but i just had to say that every one should chill out! Y’all shouldn’t be calling Taylor a diva over suing them! if it were you, and you’d ordered and paid $3000 weekly for something IMPORTANT like this, somewhere to live and chill out after working for a full day, and it didn’t arrive… you’d be pissed! You’d want your money back!
And after being promised it would be done, and you’d turned down other companies that would have had it on time, then it more then likely WOULD cause you distress lol Especially if you’d ordered it over a month ago.
I think the company were very unprofessional, and yes, Taylor is right to sue them.

Oh and i think when GC asked what do we think, i think they meant about the story, and if Taylor is right in doing what he did, NOT what you thought of his ‘diva’ behaviour and the size of his nose!
