Taraji P. Henson Son Police Video Seems To Undermine Racial Profiling Allegations
Police video of one of the incidents involving alleged racial profiling of Taraji P. Henson’s son Marcel Johnson seems to undermine those allegations, which Henson made in a recent interview while explaining why she was sending Johnson to a historically black college. Watch the footage below.
As Gossip Cop previously reported, Uptown quoted the “Empire” actress as saying, “My child has been racially profiled. He was in Glendale, California and did exactly everything the cops told him to do, including letting them illegally search his car. It was bogus because they didn’t give him the ticket for what he was pulled over for.” Henson added that there had been a second incident at the University of Southern California, declaring, “So guess where he’s going? Howard University. I’m not paying $50K so I can’t sleep at night wondering is this the night my son is getting racially profiled on campus.”
But newly surfaced dash cam footage from Johnson being pulled over in Glendale seems to tell a much less scandalous story. The cop is seen stopping the 20-year-old when he fails to yield at a crosswalk. The officer is polite throughout the exchange and asks Johnson whether anything illegal is in the vehicle. Johnson admits to possessing marijuana, giving the police probable cause to search the car. The video does not appear to show any overt, racially motivated or indefensible police work. Gossip Cop has reached out to Henson’s camp for comment. We will have updates.
