Tamar Braxton Withdraws From “Dancing With The Stars,” Drops Out Of “DWTS” Due To Blood Clots (VIDEO)
Tamar Braxton is officially out of “Dancing with the Stars,” forced to withdraw due to blood clots in her lungs.
As Gossip Cop reported, Braxton was rushed to the hospital on Monday just hours before this week’s live broadcast. She was said to be suffering from pneumonia for the last two weeks. When it came time for her performance with the Val Chmerkovskiy, the judges scored their taped dress rehearsal.
Braxton, however, managed to return in time for her second dance of the night, a duet with fellow contestant Nick Carter. She and Chmerkovskiy then survived the elimination at the end of the show. And there was hope that would be the end of it.
Early Wednesday, however, Braxton announced she was quitting the competition. “With a Heavy heart I regret to inform you that my season of #dwts has to come to an end along with the rest of my tour dates with @musicbykem,” she wrote on Instagram. Braxton continued:
“After yesterday’s final #dwts performance I went back to the hospital (after the doctors didn’t want me to leave in the first place) only to find out that I don’t have pneumonia but something way more serious and that is having several P.E.’s (blood clots in both sides of my lungs) As you all know I will be the first to always encourage anyone to push through any obstacle that comes along one’s way. But in this case, my health is my current obstacle. .. And in TRUE #tamartian form I must go about this the exact same way as I would anything else. I woke up to a mirror and saw myself this morning and that makes me the winner because that almost wasn’t the case. Take care of yourselves… I love you and thank you ALL for your support. p.s. Big hugs and kisses to my boo @iamvalc for being beyond a friend, brother and the BEST partner EVER.”
The post was accompanied by the above photo of Braxton and Chmerkovskiy in the hospital. For his part, the reigning “Dancing with the Stars” winner posted a similar shot, along with sad emojis. Braxton is now the second contestant to drop out of the competition this season, although Kim Zolciak was technically disqualified when, due to her stroke, she was unable to travel.
Unlike Zolciak, however, Braxton had actually performing well and was consistently among the top-scorers. It’s unclear if Braxton’s exit means there won’t be an elimination next week, or if Alexa PenaVega will be brought back. Tell us what you think of the news in the comments below.
UPDATE: Host Tom Bergeron tweeted, “Sending best wishes to @TamarBraxtonHer on a fast recovery. @DancingABC producers are ‘looking at all possibilities.’ Got a favorite?” Hours later, the official “DWTS” Twitter account posted, “We can confirm that @TamarBraxtonHer has withdrawn from the competition. We wish her the best and a speedy recovery.” Gossip Cop has reached out to reps for further comment. Note: Video no longer available.
