Wyclef Jean has been disqualified from the election for president of Haiti.

Late Friday, the nation’s electoral council announced a list of 19 eligible presidential candidates and 15 individuals deemed ineligible.

Jean’s name was on the second list.

There was no official explanation.

His Yele Haiti foundation released a statement indicating that the performer is seriously weighing a bid as support rallies around the native son who raised awareness of the country’s plight after January’s massive earthquake.
