Spencer Pratt says he and Heidi Montag split because he is too consumed by celebrity.

Really.

“We love each other but I’m a famewhore and I’ll never grow out of it, Pratt tells People.com. “[Heidi] knows that and doesn’t want that.”

While the show that launched the couple to stardom, “The Hills,” concluded its run last week, Pratt is more intent than Montag on staying in the limelight.

“I want every kind of press,” says the reality TV bad boy. “There’s no way my love for fame and her love for puppies will ever work out successfully.”

While Montag “just wants to hike and hang out and be calmer,” Pratt claims, “I’m the same Spencer who went on ‘The Hills’ to be famous. I still need to do stunts and take cues from Brad Pitt and Tom Cruise.”

Pratt, who now describes himself as “an artist,” insists that his split from Montag is absolutely authentic. Among the skeptics who have expressed doubt that the couple’s divorce is real are former cast mates Audrina Patridge and Whitney Port.

The New York Post has published a rumor that Stephanie Pratt of “The Hills” fame may be jumping coasts to join Whitney Port and Olivia Palermo on “The City” in New York.

According to the paper’s source, “Now that ‘The Hills’ is over, Stephanie has been talking about moving to New York for ‘The City.’”

“There would be a lot of drama there because her ex-best friend, Roxy Olin, is a regular on the show — and there’s bad blood because Roxy just dropped Stephanie for Whitney Port,” explains the Post‘s source.

That’s all well and good… but Pratt hasn’t been added to the cast, at least not yet.

While rumors that MTV had canceled “The City” were wrong, there are still major unmade decisions concerning the next season. MTV sources tell Gossip Cop that producers have not discussed Pratt’s possible involvement.

Is “The City” being shut down?

According to a rumor spreading faster than butter on a toasted English muffin, “MTV has canceled (seemingly) successful scripted reality series The City,” with this season being its last.

A spin-off from “The Hills,” which has its own series finale next month, “The City” follows the exploits of Whitney Port and friends as they try to make it in the New York City fashion world.

The show’s success, coupled with “The Hills” going off the air, makes this rumor odd, to say the least.

And rightfully so.

Tony DiSanto, MTV’s president of programming and development, tells Gossip Cop exclusively that the show’s rumored demise is “Totally 100 percent not true.”

Gossip Cop is told Whitney Port of ”The Hills” and “The City” and Ben Nemtin of “The Buried Life” are dating!

We first got wind of this about a week and a half ago when the two were at the MTV Upfronts at the Bryant Park Hotel in New York. And now sources at the network confirm the two MTV stars have been together for a few weeks.

And though the relationship is relatively new, a source in the know says, “They are definitely serious.”

Don’t be surprised if the two go public soon.

Well it ain’t so, and he’s the one telling the vicious lie “that Leonardo DiCaprio has become smitten with The City star Whitney Port.”

To be more accurate, “Scoop” Hilton lifted the false report – without fact-checking – from OK!, who realized their story was so inaccurate that even they pulled down their link. 

If only TWO DAYS earlier they had all read Gossip Cop’s piece, “Mag Makes Titanic Error with Latest DiCaprio Romance,” they would have had more timely and accurate information. At the time, a mutual friend of Gossip Cop’s and DiCaprio’s told us it was “not true.”

Hopefully, this wrong rumor will finally be dead (unlike Fidel Castro).

Here is another example of a relationship being so secret that neither of the two people reportedly involved even know about it. According to the Star, Leonardo DiCaprio is having a “hush-hush affair” with “The City” star Whitney Port.

Who knew? (Not him.)

The article claims that DiCaprio and Port have been secretly dating for a few weeks after meeting at a party in New York. A so-called source says that when they were exchanging numbers Port didn’t think it was a big deal, but DiCaprio kept calling and calling her. “He was very sweet to her. He told her how beautiful she is, how much he wanted to go out with her,” says the “source.”

Not long afterwards, when the New York-based Port was in Los Angeles, reports the tab, DiCaprio invited her to go with him to a street fair in Venice, Ca. But she declined, says Star’s “source,” because “Whitney had read that he was with model Anne Vyalitsyna and didn’t want it to look publicly like he was two-timing Anne with her.” (Do people really talk that way, relating everything one would need to know, like “model Anne Vyalitsyna”?)

Anyway, so instead of being publicly linked to DiCaprio, the tab reports that they “had an intimate dinner at his Hollywood Hills mansion in early October – and they’ve been sizzling ever since!”

A mutual friend of Gossip Cop’s and DiCaprio’s joked that the Star “wrote its own scripted reality show,” and added that this clandestine coupling is “not true.”
