Every year on the eve of the Oscars, which honors the best in filmmaking, the Razzies are handed out for the worst movies and acting.

Last night in L.A. at the 31st Annual Razzie Awards, The Last Airbender and Sex and the City 2 were the big “winners.”

M. Night Shyamalan’s The Last Airbender swept Razzies for, among other categories, Worst Picture, Worst Director and Worst Screenplay.

Meanwhile, Sex and the City 2 won Worst Sequel, Worst Ensemble and Worst Actress, which was shared by Sarah Jessica Parker, Kim Cattrall, Kristen Davis and Cynthia Nixon.

Worst Actor went to Ashton Kutcher for his work in Killers and Valentine’s Day.

Kutcher’s Valentine’s Day co-star Jessica Alba was awarded the Razzie for Worst Supporting Actress for her role in that film, as well as Machete, The Killer Inside Me, and Little Fockers.

And Jackson Rathbone was bestowed with the dubious honor of Worst Supporting Actor for his portrayal in The Last Airbender and Eclipse.

“Is Taylor Swift just using Jake Gyllenhaal to make her ex-boyfriend, Taylor Lautner, jealous?” begins a piece in In Touch.

A supposed “friend” of the singer tells the mag that over a year after they broke up, Swift is “not over [Lautner] yet” and “wants him back.”

Now Swift is using Gyllenhaal, says the tab, “in hopes of making the Twilight star come back to her.”

The so-called “friend” of the singer claims that while Swift “likes” the Brokeback Mountain actor, “She would dump him in a minute if Taylor would take her back.”

Is Swift really “still carrying a torch” for her former Valentine’s Day costar?

Not in the least.

Swift and Lautner, who dated for a few months and split in 2009, have remained friends, a source close to the singer tells Gossip Cop, adding she’s perfectly “happy” with Gyllenhaal.

It takes a lot for the National Enquirer to seem particularly absurd when it comes to Taylor Swift and Taylor Lautner.

After all, the tabloid once (wrongly) claimed Lautner had proposed to Swift.

Now the Enquirer has more nonsense up its sleeve, claiming Swift is “plotting to win back” Lautner by using Jake Gyllenhaal… and her mom.

“Taylor is hoping her dates with Jake are making Lautner crazy jealous,” a so-called “close pal” tells the magazine.

And that’s not all.

“She even had her mom Andrea call Taylor and tell him how much better his life would be if he was still dating her daughter!” continues the tab’s source.

Oooh-kay.

Swift had her mom call Lautner to “woo” him?

Uh… no.

It’s as ludicrous as it sounds.

A source close to Swift tells Gossip Cop that the whole thing is totally fabricated.

Swift and Lautner may have been Valentine’s Day sweethearts, but the Enquirer is apparently celebrating April Fool’s Day early.

An out-of-left-field rumor making the rounds today has Taylor Swift under consideration for a movie called One Night With You, in a role supposedly intended for Lindsay Lohan before her recent legal issues.

According to RadarOnline, the script involves a former child star whose scandal-ravaged career leads her to go on a reality dating show.

Lohan was allegedly rumored for the part, although no one has been able to confirm to Gossip Cop that she was ever involved.

Regardless, the new rumor says that producers might turn to country superstar Swift, who had a role in last winter’s Valentine’s Day.

Gossip Cop spoke to one of the film’s producers, John Edmond Kozma, who claimed there were “conversations” with reps for Swift.

But sources close to the singer-actress tell us her agent has “never even heard of this project.”

Hmm. Sounds like a casting bust Taylor-made for Gossip Cop.

When it comes to pregnancies, the only thing HollywoodLife delivers is some of the worst reporting in the gossip business.

Earlier today, the bad blog speculated that Reese Witherspoon might be pregnant.

She is NOT expecting.

And in that bust, we pointed out how HollywoodLife repeatedly tried to also impregnate Jennifer Garner for months on end.

The site, which is beginning to make Perez Hilton look like Edward R. Murrow, first claimed Garner was pregnant on April 6, and then again on April 12, and several more times including, June 2, June 5 and June 18.

And each time Gossip Cop corrected the blog’s inaccurate stories.

A rep even said Garner is “not pregnant.”

Eventually, the hacks at HollywoodLife skulked away for two and a half months with their tails between their legs.

In the interim, of course, were fake pregnancy stories about a slew of other stars, including Jessica Simpson.

But since the site can’t leave bogus baby reports alone, today HollywoodLife returns to ask again, “Is Jennifer Garner expecting baby number 3? The Valentine’s Day star has been spotted coast to coast with what appears to be a baby bump!”

Well, guess what?

A source close to the actress assures Gossip Cop that Garner is “not pregnant.”

Actually, the only thing anyone’s expecting… are more wrong reports from HollywoodLife.

Always one to reveal everything, Spencer Pratt says he’s (not surprisingly) writing a tell-all memoir about his relationship with estranged wife Heidi Montag.

And, as one might expect, Montag is none too pleased.

Pratt, whose divorce from Montag is expected to become final on Valentine’s Day 2011, tells Us Weekly he won’t be “holding anything back” in his new book, which will reportedly delve into Montag’s complicated relationship with her mother, Darlene Egelhoff.

For her part, Montag seems unsurprised but determined to fight her ex’s plans.

“This is exactly why I left him,” she tells TMZ. “Right now I’m looking into my legal options.”

Should Pratt be allowed to publish a book about his relationship with Montag? And would you read it?

“Is Jennifer Garner Pregnant? Take A Look At These Pics — Hmmm …” asks HollywoodLife in a post about the Valentine’s Day star.

Here’s a better question: What’s the point of a site if its own reporters have to look to their readers for answers about a Hollywood star’s personal life?

Anyway, after what must have been an excruciating coin toss, HollywoodLife concludes, “Either Jennifer’s about four months pregnant with baby #3 … or she’s wearing a very unflattering gray sweater!”

As proof that Garner may be pregnant, HollywoodLife writes, “Jen has… nothing major shooting right now that might be an impediment to a pregnancy.”

That’s true. Garner has “nothing major” right now – unless, of course, you count her upcoming film, Butter, which she’s not only starring in, but is also producing.

Bottom line: Rather than asking questions, Gossip Cop answers them. And according to a source close to Garner, “she is not pregnant.”

Case closed.

In a piece about a proposed “Laverne & Shirley” movie, New York magazine gets so much egg on its face, the weekly could probably feed its entire staff omelets for a week.

Picking up a couple of inaccurate stories, New York begins with the headline, “Jamie Foxx Writing Laverne & Shirley Movie.”

In addition to stating “that the script is being written by none other than Jamie Foxx,” the article notes, “Laverne and Shirley would be played by Foxx’s Valentine’s [Day] co-stars and apparent real-life BFFs Jennifer Garner and Jessica Biel.”

This story is based on quotations from “Laverne & Shirley” creator Garry Marshall, but no one actually bothered to check the facts – until Gossip Cop.

Here’s what’s true: Garry Marshall created “Laverne & Shirley” and Foxx, Garner and Biel starred in Valentine’s Day, directed by Marshall.

Here’s what’s not true: Everything else.

A rep for Foxx tells Gossip Cop the Oscar-winner is NOT writing the script. Garner’s spokeswoman says, “There is no truth” to her starring in the film. And Biel’s rep added that the “rumor is false.”

Maybe New York magazine should stick to New York, and let the real professionals cover Hollywood.

“EXCLUSIVE DETAILS! Taylor Swift Is Dating Cory Monteith… But She Isn’t Totally Over Her Ex, Taylor Lautner!” declares the ever confounding HollywoodLife, which uses the word “exclusive” the way we use commas.

But before we get into today’s bust, we should note that HollywoodLife has three problems:

(1)  Its reporting

(2)   Gossip Cop

(3)   Its own search engine

Now the bust…

HollywoodLife, in its latest attempt to throw everything against the wall and see what sticks, breathlessly notes, Taylor and Cory had a date night at the Pinz Bowling Center in Studio City, CA with pals Selena Gomez, Vanessa Hudgens tagging along.”

The site also claims Swift and Lautner had lunch yesterday in Beverly Hills, and that the “Twilight” star might be “trying to win her back,” but “just like on their previous dates, the Valentine’s Day co-stars, brought their moms along as chaperones!”

Wait!

Wasn’t it HollywoodLife that said just seven weeks ago that Swift was NOT dating Monteith — and instead was seeing John Mayer?

Don’t remember?

No problem. We have it here…

According to HollywoodLife, in a February 2 piece titled, “EXCLUSIVE! A Source Tells HollywoodLife.com That Taylor Swift is ‘Definitely Dating’ John Mayer!” the silly site boldly stated, “Cory is just a decoy. [Swift] isn’t really dating him. They’re friends.”

A decoy?

So now Moneith has gone from “decoy” to “dating”?

Here is the fact of the matter — HollywoodLife was dead wrong about Swift and Mayer back then, and while the singing sensation has been on a few dates with Monteith, a source close to Swift says she’s still “happily single.”

As for Lautner, the two had a friendly lunch yesterday – Swift was in town for a photo shoot and catching up with pals.

And as opposed to HollywoodLife’s report, they were not joined by their moms. In fact, none of the other people at their lunch were moms.

Once again, HollywoodLife is “exclusively” wrong when it comes to bothersome things like facts.

Shutter Island outdid the projections, earning $40.2 million at the box office, not only winning the weekend, but also giving director Martin Scorsese and star Leonardo DiCaprio their biggest openings ever.

Valentine’s Day ($17.2 million) came in at #2, while all-time champ Avatar keeps going strong — this week finishing a close #3 with $16.1 million. It’s made $687.8 million overall.

Early projections give the weekend box office title to Shutter Island, with an estimated three-day take of $35 million. The sum would be the best ever opening for director Martin Scorsese.

The psychological thriller stars Leonardo DiCaprio as a marshal investigating a spooky institution in the 1950s.

Barring a drastic change over the course of Saturday and Sunday, last week’s champ, Valentine’s Day, will fall to #2, just ahead of Percy Jackson & The Olympians and… all-time #1 Avatar, which is now approaching $700 million in North America.

“Aww! Brad & Angelina Took Their Brood Out For A Valentine’s Day Dinner!” gushes the headline of a HollywoodLife story that goes on to report, “Angelina Jolie took a trip down memory lane Feb. 14 as she and Brad Pitt took Maddox, 9, Pax, 6, and Zahara, 5, to Benihana for a special Valentine’s Day dinner.”

They really spent “Valentine’s Day” at Benihana’s in L.A.?!

Wrong.

While it’s true the couple and their kids – minus Shiloh, Vivienne and Knox – had a dinner at Benihana’s, it was TWO full days before Valentine’s Day, not “Feb. 14,” as inaccurately reported by HollywoodLife.

What’s scary, though, is HollywoodLife’s Perez-like style of cutting and pasting info, and then adding an incorrect twist to it.

HollywoodLife took its story from Life & Style, which noted Brangelina “took their three eldest children for a Valentine’s Day eve dinner at the Benihana restaurant.”

Not Valentine’s Day. Not “Feb. 14,” as stated by HollywoodLife, but rather Valentine’s “eve.”

Life & Style and HollywoodLife are a little like the blind leading the blind, because it wasn’t Valentine’s Day “eve” either. It was two days before Valentine’s Day, meaning a regular Friday night.

For the record, Pitt, Jolie, and their kids spent Valentine’s Day at home.

If only some hidden clue separated Woods and Nordegren from “most couples,” we could probably crack the case of why the two lovebirds were less than cuddly yesterday. If only…

Oh, right.

Tiger Woods has spent three months embroiled in one of the most sensational serial infidelity scandals ever, with an astounding number of women coming forward to claim sexual dalliances (including rumored pregnancies). Despite being one of the most famous men in the world, Woods hasn’t been seen publicly since November. His actions, regardless of what winds up being proven, earned him universal scorn, devastated his image, and humiliated Nordegren as few women have ever been.

We almost forgot.

Thankfully, HollywoodLife is able to back up this hard-hitting investigative work by citing a source for RadarOnline.com who goes out on a limb and claims Woods and Nordegren “never came in contact all day!”

Really?

The most embarrassed wife in the world, on the heels of a catastrophic cheating scandal that made front pages worldwide for weeks, didn’t sit down for a champagne toast and candlelit dinner with her disgraced (and missing) husband?

That’s news that deserves an exclamation point!

Anyone in Los Angeles who wants a reminder of how much Jenny McCarthy loves her man Jim Carrey need only look to the sky.

“Just had sky writer come over our house and write J (heart) J in the sky,” McCarthy tweeted this afternoon. “So fun. Anybody in LA go look at the sky!”

Carrey responded – on Twitter, of course – by confirming, “Yes, the J (heart) J was just written in the sky over Brentwood, was for me. “today’s sky, was brought to you by Jenny Mccarthy!” ;^)”

So did McCarthy’s grand gesture work?

“Jenny my Love, you’ve stolen my heart, my soul and of course anything you find in my pants,” tweets Carrey.

The couple has dated for four years.

Valentine’s Day

The romantic comedy is on pace to take in $60 million for the Friday-Monday extended weekend, after scoring a $16.5 million debut Friday, and $18.4 million for Saturday. Percy Jackson & The Olympians and The Wolfman, the other two major releases, are estimated to hit $40 million and $34.8 million, respectively.

For the #4 spot, all-time box office leader Avatar will edge out Dear John, the romance that finally knocked it from its #1 perch last weekend.

The overall box office is trending ahead of last year’s Valentine’s Day/Presidents Weekend, which set the record at $220 million.

The weekend is upon us… along with a varied slate of box office offerings.

Horror fans get a visit from The Wolfman, while fantasy and mythology buffs will have Percy Jackson & The Olympians.

Meanwhile, roughly four-fifths of Hollywood appears in Valentine’s Day (including Jessicas Alba and Biel, Taylors Swift and Lautner, Robertses Julia and Emma, Bradley Cooper, Ashton Kutcher, Jennifer Garner, Jamie Foxx, George Lopez, Queen Latifah, Topher Grace, Anne Hathaway, etc.). We suspect the film is about Valentine’s Day.

Of course, there are also some leftover movies fighting it out at the cineplex, including last week’s champ, Dear John, and a small indie called Avatar.

NBC announced “The Jay Leno Show” with great fanfare back in 2008, and after fewer than five months on the air, Jay Leno will call it quits tonight.

For the show’s finale, Leno will have Ashton Kutcher promoting “Valentine’s Day,” “Precious” star Gabourey Sidibe, and Bob Costas will do the “10 at 10″ from Vancouver, where he will host the Winter Olympics, beginning Friday on NBC.

While the Olympics are on, Leno’s studio will be completely redone before he (again) hosts “The Tonight Show,” starting March 1.

Here’s hoping Star magazine opens 2010 with better luck than it’s finishing 2009… especially since the tab’s strategy seems to be:

1. Throw stuff against the wall.

2. Hope for the best.

It was a losing bet this week with the mag’s Taylor Swift and Taylor Lautner story.

“The couple who work together stay together!” blares the weekly in a poorly timed item that hit newsstands just as Gossip Cop and others confirmed the Taylors were no longer a couple.

Lautner “is lobbying hard for his honey [Swift] to be cast as his girlfriend in the upcoming hostage thriller Cancun,” Star claims, adding that after meeting on the set of Valentine’s Day, “boy T wants his sweet T by his celluloid side once again.”

The mag’s “source” goes on to declare that Lautner is “very serious about her and wants it to work out.”

Oops.

The couple, who met on the set of the movie “Valentine’s Day,” began dating a little more than three months ago, but “it just wasn’t happening,” a Swift source tells Gossip Cop.

The insider added, “They met, they liked each other, went out a few times, but the media made a bigger deal of it than it was because they’re young and attractive.”

And while the two Taylors each jokingly acknowledged their budding relationship when hosting “Saturday Night Live,” it was never a whirlwind romance. The source described it as two young people going on a few (well-documented) dates, but it never materializing into anything more serious.

The break-up, says the insider, was “not big or dramatic,” nor was the romance “contrived,” as an Us Weekly source termed it.

“It just wasn’t happening,” reiterated the source, who said the two stars are still “going to be friends.”

Want evidence that Taylor Lautner is becoming incredibly famous? The Internet is boiling over with rumors about his sexuality.

Specifically, whether the “New Moon” werewolf is dating a gentleman named Sean Fox Zastoupil.

One site places the two together on a “private shopping trip” at Kitson (where “inside sources” claim “they really had a blast”). Others are reading an awful lot into Lautner’s recent Rolling Stone interview, in which he says he’s “possibly” dating someone, but won’t say who. When the magazine refers to his status “as a young person trying to figure out his sexual identity in the world,” Lautner responds, “OK. I see where you’re going. Interesting choice.”

Rolling Stone: “It is a possibility.”

Lautner: “There’s a lot of rumors out there.”

Apparently, merely observing that there are rumors out there about yourself (and not denying them) is enough to stir speculation.

But here is “were” it should end with this wolf. A representative for Lautner, who’s been linked romantically to his “Valentine’s Day” co-star Taylor Swift, told Gossip Cop the Zastoupil rumors are “absolutely not true.”

The Star is reporting that Jessica Biel was “humiliated” on November 10 when Justin Timberlake took her to Jay-Z‘s concert in L.A., where Rihanna made an unexpected guest appearance onstage.

The tab writes that, rather than leaving the performance when Timberlake’s rumored fling hit the stage, “Justin danced and sang along with Rihanna.”  A so-called “insider” says, “Jessica stood there like a fool. She was angry and embarrassed… It obviously hurt her a lot.”

Let’s pause this item for one second.

One, Timberlake never had a romance with Rihanna. It’s simply not true. Therefore, two, Biel wasn’t “hurt” by the surprise appearance by Rihanna. And three, Biel, according to a real source, was also dancing along to Rihanna.

Unpause.

The article goes on to say that Biel was “still fuming” two days later when she and her “Valentine’s Day” co-star Jennifer Garner had dinner together. According to the Star’s source, another diner — with supersonic hearing — overheard Biel saying she “was beside herself… She thought it was humiliating and felt totally disrespected.”

Whether it’s Camelot for Timberlake and Biel, that’s not for now. But in terms of this incident, it’s “completely inaccurate,” confides a source close to Biel.

Nevertheless, Gossip Cop would like to congratulate the Star for finding as many (“hurt” and “angry”) synonyms as they did to get their story wrong (or “incorrect” or “off base” or “inaccurate”…)

Blogs are buzzing today with InStyle magazine’s Taylor Swift cover story. In it, she seems to derail rumors of romance with “Twilight” teen Taylor Lautner. The two star together in the upcoming “Valentine’s Day” and have been seen together frequently in recent weeks.

The sites have seized on Swift’s comment, “I’ve never thought it was a curse to be single, and at this point in my life, I’m in the mind-set where I choose to be single… [I wouldn't have time for certain things] if I had a boyfriend right now!”

That puts the kibosh on Taylor Squared talk, right?

Not exactly.

Gossip Cop spoke with Swift’s representative, who confirmed that InStyle conducted the interview with her client a few days after the Kanye West incident, meaning it was mid-September. So keep in mind Swift’s comment about not having a boyfriend “right now” actually refers to two months ago.

A lot has happened in these past two months including Lautner getting close with Swift after two of her concerts, attending a hockey game with her, and dining together. Then, of course, there was Swift’s appearance on Saturday Night Live in which she sang about a certain werewolf from “Twilight” and blew a kiss to her rumored beau.

When Gossip Cop asked Swift’s rep whether her client’s single status had changed since the interview two months ago, the rep responded, “I don’t comment about my client’s personal life.”

A rumored romance between two of the hottest names in showbiz is Taylor-made for a media frenzy. But how close did Taylor Swift and Taylor Lautner really get in Chicago this past weekend?

The two appear together in the upcoming movie “Valentine’s Day,” and Lautner attended two of Swift’s concerts over the weekend, but many outlets have declared he’s much more than just a fan of her music. Us Weekly claims the hug they shared after Swift performed was a “romantic embrace,” and the Chicago Sun-Times reports “the coosome twosome worked up quite a sweat” dancing at an after party later. They were “hand in hand the whole night” at the party, an alleged “eyewitness” tells Us Weekly, adding, “They didn’t leave each other’s sides and left the club arm in arm at 3 a.m.”

What the mag neglects to mention is that large groups of people left the after party at the club at the same time. Swift was the host, and when she took off, so did most of the crowd who came to see her. As for whether she and Lautner were “hand in hand,” a partygoer tells Gossip Cop she saw nothing of the sort.

So are the Taylors an item? A representative for Swift told Gossip Cop they’re “friends.” We aren’t ruling out the possibility the two will exchange real-life valentines one day. But as of now it seems too swift to declare the singer and the werewolf are a couple.
