In a new promo for the project, Gomez tries to give her imaginary bird friend tap water.

“Hope for Haiti” airs later tonight, and the array of stars signed up to help the island nation devastated by an earthquake is growing by the hour.

The two-hour telethon, which will air on every major network and dozens upon dozens of other stations across the U.S. and around the world, is being hosted by George Clooney in Los Angeles, Haiti native Wyclef Jean in New York, and Anderson Cooper from Haiti.

So who will you see tonight?

Among those signed up so far are Brad Pitt, Julia Roberts, Tom Hanks, Bill Clinton, Meryl Streep, Leonardo DiCaprio, Clint Eastwood, Nicole Kidman, Robert Pattinson, Jon Stewart, Ellen Degeneres, Matt Damon, and Morgan Freeman, to name just a few.

And the fundraiser has attracted a number of major artists who will be performing as well. That list includes, Madonna, Bruce Springsteen, Beyonce, Taylor Swift, Justin Timberlake, Christina Aguilera, Bono, The Edge, Jay-Z, Rihanna, Sting, Jennifer Hudson, Sheryl Crow, Kid Rock, Keith Urban, Stevie Wonder, Alicia Keys, Dave Matthews, John Legend, Shakira, Mary J. Blige, and Coldplay.

The music will be available, beginning Saturday, on iTunes and all the proceeds will go to the charities benefiting from the telethon, including the Red Cross, UNICEF, Oxfam, Partners in Health, and Wyclef’s Yele Haiti Foundation.

According to Taylor Lautner’s rep, the “New Moon” heartthrob will not be participating in the “Hope for Haiti” telethon.

But something that should be music to your ears is the long list of musicians who will be performing during the two-hour fundraiser, which is being aired on every major network and numerous other cable outfits.

In New York, where Haiti native Wyclef Jean will host the show, there will be performances by Bruce Springsteen, Jennifer Hudson, Shakira, Mary J. Blige, Sting, and Jean himself.

Co-host George Clooney will be in Los Angeles, where Taylor Swift, Dave Matthews, Sheryl Crow, Kid Rock, Christina Aguilera, Keith Urban, Stevie Wonder, Alicia Keys, John Legend, and Justin Timberlake are slated to perform.

And Bono, The Edge, Jay-Z, Rihanna and Coldplay will hit the stage in London, where Robert Pattinson will lend a helping hand as well.

The music will be available, beginning Saturday, on iTunes and all the proceeds will go to the charities benefiting from the telethon, including the Red Cross, UNICEF, Oxfam, Partners in Health, and Wyclef’s Yele Haiti Foundation.

Remember that embarrassingly bare “Baby Joy!” cover “story” Life & Style ran yesterday about Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie?

Well now get ready for some Brangelina “Baby Glow!”

Star magazine, never one to take a back seat on the wrong rumor bandwagon, boosts baby talk to the next level by announcing, “Angie’s radiant. Brad’s on board. And they’re hoping another baby can save their troubled relationship.”

The mag claims Jolie was sporting “the full, rosy cheeks, the knowing looks and the unmistakable baby glow” at the recent UNICEF Snowflake Ball, where the smile she gave Pitt “was the same one she’d given him at the 2008 SAG awards,” when she was pregnant with twins.

Wait. Let’s get this straight. We’re now using Angelina Jolie’s smile as a pregnancy test?

Oh, but that’s not all! A so-called “family insider” notes that Jolie’s recently been “constantly laughing and really chatty,” much as she was while previously pregnant, evidence that “she’s got her pregnancy personality back!”

Smiling? Check. Chatty? Check.

What about public displays of affection? Well, Pitt “tenderly held her hand as he led her through the crowd,” according to an eyewitness, and “Angie even tugged jokingly on Brad’s goatee and fed him dessert!”

That’s it! We’re sold! As everyone knows, goatee tugging is the only thing pregnant women do more than smile and chat!

The Star also makes a point of saying Jolie “didn’t touch a drop” of red wine during the event, which is odd, since most other stories covering the UNICEF ball show Jolie clutching a glass of… red wine. Those photos are noticeably absent in Star.

Here’s Star‘s theory: the rumored pregnancy might “save their troubled relationship,” coming a few weeks after the so-called “Fight to End All Fights” cover that Gossip Cop debunked.

“When Brad found out he might be a father again,” an “insider” tells Star, “he did a complete 180. He was ready to walk out, but right now he seems committed to being by Angie’s side.”

Let’s review. Star duped its readers with a misleading cover about Brangelina brawling, now covers its tracks by claiming that the affectionate, happy couple everyone sees was only brought back together by “Baby No. 7,” using as proof a mixture of “glow,” smiles, and goatee tugging.

Gossip Cop doesn’t know “what to expect when you’re expecting,” but we’re experts on “what to expect when you’re reading Brangelina expecting rumors” – a lot of speculation, and not much more.

This is just ridiculous.

“World Exclusive: Baby Joy!” shouts Life & Style‘s cover over a photo of Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie smiling above the words “Baby No. 7 is on its way for Brad and Angelina!” below.

The headline on the piece inside? “More Kids for Brad and Angelina.”

The subheadline? “Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie decide the time is right to expand the Jolie-Pitt clan again.”

The actual story?

Just five paragraphs… of nothing.

A so-called “insider” tells the magazine, “Angelina decided about four months ago that she really wanted to try to get pregnant again.”

That’s it.

The rest of the “article,” if it can be called that, essentially runs down the names and ages of Brangelina’s other children; cites months-old quotes Jolie gave to a different magazine in which she says hypothetically, “I can see further additions to the family;” and discusses a star-studded UNICEF ball in Los Angeles on December 10 where Jolie gazed at Pitt and Pitt kissed Jolie.

And what is the significance of the UNICEF PDAs?

“In fact, what onlookers were witnessing,” Life & Style earnestly reports, “was the happiness of a couple trying for baby No. 7.”

No. What Gossip Cop is “witnessing” is the desperation of a tabloid trying for a “world exclusive” cover without offering any facts or specifics.

When it comes to placing people near Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie, X17Online just can’t get it right.

The same site that insisted George Clooney was moving next to Brangelina in the south of France (he wasn’t), now makes an even bigger goof – with a correspondent at the UNICEF Snowflake Ball claiming that Pitt ex Jennifer Aniston arrived just minutes before Pitt and Jolie, and that the trio were “all in the same room right now, as I type this!”

Referring to the unlikely convergence of the three stars whose romantic drama has filled tabloid pages for years, X17 announced, “Hell has frozen over!”

Gossip Cop imagines hell is still quite toasty, and it will only really get icy when X17 finally gets a Brangelina story correct.

Jennifer Aniston was absolutely NOT at the UNICEF Snowflake Ball last night, we can report, and there’s no truth to any suggestions that the event almost saw some real Aniston-Pitt-Jolie tension.

Selena Gomez has been appointed as the newest Ambassador for UNICEF. The Disney star will “use her voice, recognition and commitment to children’s issues” to support the organization’s mission to reduce preventable deaths among children.

“Every day 25,000 children die from preventable causes. I stand with UNICEF in the belief that we can change that number from 25,000 to zero,” Gomez says.

She is on her first field mission to Ghana, where “she will be looking at UNICEF child survival programs,” according to her rep.

Gossip Cop learned that she “was approached more than a year ago.” Last year Gomez was a spokesperson, but this year she has “now taken on an official role as an Ambassador,” says her rep, adding, “she will be involved in educating, advocating, and fundraising.”
