The Robert Pattinson-Uma Thurman period drama Bel Ami will have its world premiere at the Berlin International Film Festival.

It will not be in competition for awards.

The festival takes place in February.

Bel Ami, also starring Christina Ricci and Kristin Scott Thomas, follows the ambitious and corrupt journalist Georges Duroy.

It’s been one of the more popular themes in tabloid journalism over the last couple of years: If Robert Pattinson is anywhere near another woman in a professional context, it’s (allegedly) reason for Kristen Stewart to worry.

If an adult female works in Hollywood and her career intersects (or is even rumored to intersect) with Pattinson’s… it’s instant (100% bogus) scandal!

At various points in the past it’s been Keira Knightley, and don’t forget the supposed “threat” once posed by Reese Witherspoon!

There were rumors about Uma Thurman and also Emilie de Ravin.

Romantic challenges could come from unexpected people like Caitlin Cronenberg, or even Pattinson’s agent.

Basically, as long as Pattinson makes movies, tabloids will make scandals.

The newest one involves Breaking Dawn co-star Ashley Greene, who’s been promoting the film with Pattinson – and allegedly “getting close” to him, too.

Star magazine’s so-called “insider” says that with Stewart off filming her own movie, “Ashley is making moves on Rob.”

“They have been on romantic dates, just the two of them. Ashley is forward – she made it known that she wants something more than a friendship,” claims this Star source.

The same insider for the mag relates, “Kristen has warned Rob to keep his distance from Ashley and is furious with him for not obeying.”

Uh-huh.

Unfortunately, Pattinson is unable to “keep his distance” from Greene because they are working.

They are pushing Breaking Dawn in foreign markets together.

That is what actors do.

They are not sharing romantic meals, they are not getting too “close,” and Stewart is not panicking about any kind of hookup.

Sources close to all parties tell Gossip Cop the Greene-Pattinson rumors are more of the same nonsense that’s dogged both stars as their fame has grown.

The tabloid declares, “With friends like Ashley Greene, Kristen Stewart doesn’t need enemies.”

And with Star printing stories like these, the world doesn’t need The Onion.

Ethan Hawke is a dad for the fourth time after his wife, Ryan Hawke, gave birth to daughter Indiana two weeks ago.

She’s the couple’s second child together; Hawke also has two kids with his ex-wife, Uma Thurman.

The Hawkes wed in June 2008.

Their first daughter, Clementine Jane, is three years old.

With Thurman, Hawke has 13-year-old daughter Maya and 9-year-old son Levon.

Over the weekend, numerous outlets reported that Cannes juror Uma Thurman had to leave the the film festival to attend the funeral of a family member.

OnTheRedCarpet.com was among the many sites that went with the story, saying, “Uma Thurman has reportedly left the 2011 Cannes Film Festival in France to attend a family funeral in Monaco.”

The site reported that “The identity of the 41-year-old’s relative was not disclosed.”

But the report is NOT accurate.

A rep for Thurman exclusively tells Gossip Cop, “She did not leave Cannes and there was not a death in her family.”

We’re not sure where this rumor started, but we’re glad that it’s not true.

Chelsea Handler and the man she was with on Saturday night looked like they could have used a room while out at the Sundance Film Festival.

The good thing is her close companion was hotel mogul Andre Balazs.

Handler and Balazs, who used to date Uma Thurman, were first spotted kissing at a Florence + the Machine concert at the Bing Bar.

Next, the two headed over to Tao at the Samsung Galaxy Lift, where we’re told they sat next to each other on a banquette. “They kissed for a bit and left together” at around 3 a.m., a source tells Gossip Cop.

But that wasn’t all.

The following night, Handler and Balazs dined with a friend at the restaurant 350 Main Brasserie.

Looks like Handler has made a change from 50 Cent.

Uma Thurman‘s scary stalker has been nabbed.

Police arrested Jack Jordan at his home in Maryland on November 23 and is now in custody. When he was caught, Jordan was at his computer, with “Uma Thurman” typed into a Google search, an official confirms to Gossip Cop.

Jordan, a diagnosed schizophrenic who spent time in a mental institution, was convicted of stalking and harassing Thurman in 2008.

He was issued a five-year order of protection, which he violated with multiple phone calls last month.

Jordan reportedly insisted that Thurman’s boyfriend Arpad Busson was “not good enough for her” and demanded to speak with the actress.

He is currently being held at the Montgomery County Correctional Facility. Jordan has an extradition hearing on December 21, because there’s a warrant for his arrest in New York.

Lily Allen is blasting a gossip columnist who claims Allen and Sam Cooper are planning to marry in the aftermath of her recent miscarriage.

The Daily Mail‘s Katie Nicholl quotes a so-called “friend” of the couple as saying, “They realised through their grief that they absolutely adore one another and cannot live without each other.” Nicholl goes on to speculate about the location of the ceremony and reception.

Allen, who’s also recovering from blood poisoning, took to Twitter to say exactly what she thought of Nicholl.

Allen writes, “Katie Nicholl I THINK you’re a c**t, leave me out of your sh**ty column, you know nothing about the intimate details of my life.”

“Theres (sic) a time and a place for your musings where i’m concerned, and it’s not now,” adds the singer.

Gossip Cop has busted Nicholl’s “musings” before, including her wrong assertions about Sienna Miller and Charlize Theron following Kabbalah, as well as her baseless claim that Uma Thurman planned to marry at Kensington Palace.

As of now, the Allen article is still posted to the Daily Mail‘s website, and Nicholl has not responded.

Uma Thurman‘s stalker, Jack Jordan, is at it again.

According to police, Jordan phoned the star twice last week. He reportedly called her home on Friday night and her cell phone on Saturday. Thurman’s assistant fielded both calls.

Jordan purportedly demanded to know where the actress was, and added that Thurman’s Swiss boyfriend, Arpad Busson, was “not good enough” for her, and that she should “marry” Jordan instead.

Jordan, a diagnosed schizophrenic who spent time in a mental health facility, was convicted of stalking and harassing the actress in 2008. At the time, Thurman was issued a five-year protection order against Jordan, which he allegedly violated last week with his calls.

The actress is said to have filed a criminal complaint against Jordan on October 31, but he has not yet been arrested.

A firecracker exploded next to the boat carrying George Clooney, Elisabetta Canalis, Uma Thurman and other passengers on Lake Como in Italy.

The group was celebrating the Fourth of July by watching fireworks on the lake.

Fortunately, there are no reported injuries.

There were additional reports claiming the boat caught on fire, but Clooney’s rep tells Gossip Cop “there was no fire.”

Like a child threatened by the arrival of a newborn sibling, Life & Style does everything it can in a desperate bid to win attention.

Last week, the mag put together a baffling cover story of contradictions and conspiracy to explain how Robert Pattinson had “dumped” Kristen Stewart.

Worn out by those contrivances, Life & Style keeps it simple this time, taking a Pattinson interview and pretending it means something it doesn’t.

“Robert: I Want Out,” blares the headline, which is curious, considering Life & Style insisted just seven days ago that Pattinson was already “out,” so to speak. But whatever.

“Rob’s trying to distance himself from the only thing left tying him to Kristen Stewart,” explains the tabloid. “The Twilight franchise itself.”

Oh, this is gonna be good.

“In a shocking June 18 interview with The New York Times, Rob said he can’t wait for the movie series to run its course,” reports the mag. “‘It can get a little boring,’ said Rob, referring to the cultural obsession with him and his big-screen vampire romance. ‘The good news is that the whole thing is done in seven months.’”

What’s “shocking” here? Pattinson has stated previously that the Twilight process can be exhausting.

Well, Life & Style sees the quote as more dramatic… and code for something else.

Seven months, the mag explains, is when Pattinson will “be done filming the final installment, Breaking Dawn — and, of course, when he’ll no longer have to see Kristen every day on the set.”

Um… What?

So when Pattinson told the New York Times he looks forward to finishing Breaking Dawn, what he really meant, according to Life & Style, is that he can’t wait to get away from Kristen Stewart?

Uh huh.

But wait! The article gets even less rational!

“With Kristen out of the picture, it appears that Rob can’t wait to retract his fangs from Twilight and focus on other ventures,” says the tab, which lists “the drama Water for Elephants, with co-star Reese Witherspoon, and an indie flick, Bel Ami, with Uma Thurman.”

Of course, Pattinson is currently filming Water for Elephants, and he already filmed Bel Ami – and he still has Breaking Dawn down the road to “focus” on.

We know focusing on more than one thing is difficult for Life & Style, but actors manage to do it all the time.

Second, was Kristen Stewart keeping Robert Pattinson from doing non-Twilight work? Because apparently, he didn’t need Stewart “out of the picture” to make Water for Elephants, Bel Ami and Remember Me.

Two things are for certain:

(1) There is audio of Robert Pattinson discussing sex scenes in “Bel Ami.”

(2) He most assuredly did not grant the Daily Record an interview.

Here is what happened.

Yes, there’s audio of Pattinson, but he didn’t tell the Daily Record, “The sex scenes with Uma are kind of disturbing.”

The full audio, recorded at a recent roundtable discussion with several journalists in London, has Pattinson saying that his character and Uma Thurman’s marry about two-thirds of the way into “Bel Ami,” and “the sex scenes with Uma… if they, if they work out how they are in the script… they’d be like kind of disturbing in a way.”

It’s important to note, though, that the printed comment alters the sequence and wording of Pattinson’s comments.

It’s equally important to Gossip Cop that Pattinson was not interviewed by the Daily Record, and the paper was not among the approved outlets at the roundtable.

When Gossip Cop asked about the circumstances surrounding the audio, one editor at the paper said he was “unaware” if the person who furnished the tab with the audio identified himself as a reporter for the Daily Record. And another editor said whether the writer “identified himself as representing the Daily Record” was “immaterial.”

But it’s not immaterial. Especially since the Daily Record wasn’t an approved media outlet.

The paper was able to print Pattinson’s words (while no other outlet at the roundtable did) because, not having been identified as a participant, the Daily Record did not abide by certain restrictions.

And since it was not an approved outlet, that’s why a Pattinson source told Gossip Cop - correctly – that the star “never spoke to the [Scottish] Daily Record.”

Even Pattinson, according to the source, didn’t know he was being taped by someone who was going to later supply the Daily Record with the (edited) quotes.

So, at the end of the day… yeah, Pattinson said some of what the paper claims — though not word for word, according to the audio — but he had absolutely no idea he was being “interviewed” by the Daily Record.

Any comments attributed to Robert Pattinson are going to get huge attention, especially with regards to the highly anticipated Bel Ami he’s making with Uma Thurman, and especially if outlets can throw in the word “sex.”

“The sex scenes with Uma are kind of disturbing,” Pattinson is quoted as saying to The Daily Record. The comments were quickly (and not surprisingly) picked up everywhere. “[Thurman's character] kind of uses sex as a sort of weapon and my character thinks like an animal,” Pattinson supposedly adds.

Bel Ami is an adaptation of French writer Guy de Maupassant‘s novel, in which Georges Duroy (Pattinson) is a social climbing journalist and playboy. As Gossip Cop confirmed last month, Christina Ricci has also signed on to the project.

Gossip Cop was told by a source close to Pattinson that the actor ”never spoke to the [Scottish] Daily Record.”

Additionally, the quotations printed in the article were absolutely altered and used out of sequence in the newspaper, which was not authorized to publish the (edited) quotations, says the source.

It’s gotten to the point now where nearly any celebrity relationship news seems to have a Robert Pattinson angle.

As soon as Uma Thurman‘s split with Arpad Busson became public, we knew it would trigger immediate speculation about a possible Thurman fling with her co-star in the upcoming “Bel Ami” – Mr. Pattinson. Sure enough, Twitter talked up a possible May-December romance between the “Twilight” heartthrob and the newly single Thurman. So many of our visitors wrote Gossip Cop with questions about the speculation, we decided to make sure our doubts were well founded.

“That is actually funny,” a representative for Thurman told Gossip Cop of Robert & Uma (“Ruma”?) whispers. ”Uma hasn’t even been in the same room as Pattinson,” with whom he notes she won’t start work on “Bel Ami” until the new year.

So there you have it.

Remarkably, Pattinson hasn’t been linked yet to the Tiger Woods scandal… but the week is still young.

Busson, the father of Elle Macpherson’s two kids, had proposed to Thurman in June of 2008 with a 8-carat diamond. They began dating in 2007.

Despite insinuations otherwise, Thurman’s rep tells Gossip Cop, “All is fine. No drama. They are still friends.”

What a week it was for Gossip Cop!

Gossip Cop really busted Star magazine with its story that “Grey’s Anatomy” lead Ellen Pompeo’s husband, Chris Ivery, cheated on her – during her pregnancy – with a teen.  A lot of outlets picked up that story, but Gossip Cop exclusively obtained an email from the teen that read, “I talked to Star Magazine and they were trying to offer me $20,000 for information about Chris. That is ridiculous because nothing is true about us having a relationship.” We confronted Star about the pay-to-say, but not surprisingly no one got back to us.

That same rag got it all wrong when claiming that Natalie Portman just moved to L.A. to be closer to Sean Penn, who’s going through a divorce. Besides the fact that he’s been linked to another woman, Portman moved to the West Coast a year ago.

Despite numerous outlets reporting that Penelope Cruz was pregnant, Gossip Cop led the charge and finally busted that bad dish.  We have it upon good authority that she is “100 percent NOT” pregnant. Plus, we saw some photos of her recently smoking. Still that didn’t stop Perez Hilton. He wrote that despite Cruz’s own “claims” that she’s not pregnant, he believes that she is – and he called her a “liar.” Whoa!

In more pregnant news, the National Enquirer ran a piece that said Mel Gibson was concerned that his pregnant girlfriend wasn’t eating enough. Not true, said his publicist, who recently had dinner with the couple and noted how “healthy” she looked. The Enquirer also waited a good 30 seconds after “The Office” star John Krasinski and Emily Blunt got engaged to say they were fighting over wedding plans. But a rep for Krasinski told Gossip Cop: “There is nothing factually accurate to the story in the National Enquirer except that John and Emily are engaged.”

Then we smelled a rat with a Brad Pitt gerbil story. The British tab The Sun claimed he bought his kids an approximately $83,000 gerbil run, complete with mazes, tunnels and seesaws. That story was full of gerbil pellets.

This week John Mayer was the subject of two wrong romance stories. When Janet Charlton’s Hollywood reported that “The Hills” (and Kristin Cavallari) were alive with the sound of Mayer’s music, we were the first on the scene to say there was “No Such Thing” going on between the two. (Of course, that didn’t stop journalism’s joker Perez Hilton from repeating the fabricated tale). And the other inaccurate love story involving Mayer was an In Touch cover piece on Jessica Simpson that claimed she was secretly hooking up with him again. Yeah, also not true.

In other love news, Jennifer Lopez and Marc Anthony were once again the subject of nasty nuptial rumors, but Gossip Cop spoke to sources close to them and found out it was just the same naysayers singing the same old (off-key) tune. The couple is still making beautiful music.

And it seemed like yesterday the blogs were saying Vanessa Hudgens and Zac Efron were engaged. Well, the rumor this week was that they are headed for splitsville. Gossip Cop investigated and didn’t find proof to support this sophomoric “High School Musical” tale.

The British Star magazine was trippin’ when it printed a story that Rihanna and Chris Brown, who are legally barred from being near each other, are now planning a trip together to Mexico – meaning they would be outside of U.S. jurisdiction.  The only distance to be noted here is that this story is far from true.

With “Sex and the City” filming in New York this week, there were many a rumor Cop had to handle.  For starters, in the course of just a couple of days, a New York paper said Kim Cattrall was still with her much younger chef boyfriend (uh, they broke up months ago), and that she’s now an American – nope, Cattrall is still a Canadian citizen. Then, rather oddly, the tabs came to Gossip Cop to verify a rumor that Chris Noth (aka “Mr. Big”) was engaged in real-life. We contacted Noth, who texted us back, “Not true.” And, Gossip Cop had amazing footage of thousands of fans peacefully surrounding Sarah Jessica Parker as she moved from one area of shooting to another. Totally worth a look.

The dynamic duo of Perez Hilton and In Touch lost all touch with reality when they claimed that Rosie O’Donnell and Star Jones were going to team up for a reality show. Gossip Cop debunked that quickly. And on the subject of reality TV, after ignoring John and Kate Gosselin all summer we posted a piece and asked you all what you felt about them. Incredibly, the vast majority of you expressed the same sentiment as Gossip Cop – who cares about the two of them? (Barring something unbelievable, don’t expect to see their names in Gossip Cop after this.)

This week the New York Post wrote that Lindsay Lohan was staying under the radar in Austin, Texas, where’s she’s slated to film the movie, “Machete.” Sadly, the New York newspaper somehow missed that Lohan was in New York. We even showed footage of the paparazzi staking her out while shopping in Manhattan – just about the same time that the erroneous “Austin” item was being written. Not to be outdone, New York’s other tab, The New York Daily News did a piece insinuating that Kate Hudson is engaged to Yankees slugger Alex Rodriguez. That paper also struck out. They are not engaged.

Across the pond, the Daily Mail said that Uma Thurman was going to walk down the aisle in Kensington Palace, where Princess Diana had lived, but Gossip Cop proved that that, too, was a royal lie.

“Twilight” Highlights: Gossip Cop started the week off nicely, having taken a bite out of Now magazine, which published fabricated Robert Pattinson quotes, but then removed them from its website after Gossip Cop called them out on it. Later we posted a video of the paparazzi hounding Pattinson and Kristen Stewart. The footage showed the two being pursued as they got into a taxi in Vancouver, and then Stewart literally fleeing from the cab and sprinting into their hotel. We debated long and hard whether to show the footage (shot by a third party), and ultimately we felt that writing about it might lead people to think that, like our competitors, we were making it up or were exaggerating the details. But by presenting it, we believed, everyone could accurately assess (even eyewitness) for themselves the harassment that the two “Twilight” stars unfortunately have to endure.

Then there was that OK! cover that was not OK. It blared, “Rob Risks It All For Kristen,” and cautioned, “How his engagement to Kristen is putting Rob’s career and the future of Twilight in jeopardy.” Engagement? Not true. There was so much more, including how the filmmakers were concerned that Pattinson and Stewart hanging out together would affect how people felt about the “New Moon” plot in which her character falls for Jacob Black, played by Taylor Lautner. One, the story is nonsense, and two, nice job insulting “Twilight” fans and implying they can’t separate fact from fiction. Speaking of fiction, there were some other doozies this week, including Pattinson and Stewart sneaking off to an island off of Canada’s coast for a weekend getaway. Stewart, by all accounts, was in Vancouver that weekend. That story was more like Fantasy Island. And we ended the week with the new, expanded, non-bootlegged HD version of the “New Moon” trailer. (Oh, and then there was that thing about Robert Pattinson using steroids. No, really.)

There was so much more this week, like our correcting that Casey Wilson was dumped from “Saturday Night Live” because of her weight; Megan Fox being taunted by a cursing paparazzo; the Michael Jackson tribute concert being postponed and moved to London; and the surprising news that Ellen DeGeneres was tapped to be the fourth judge on “American Idol.”

And yes, for 30 glorious minutes on Friday it seemed like karma had caught up with Perez Hillton, whom Gossip Cop wrote about for The Huffington Post. For half an hour, PerezHilton.com was temporarily down, and so inaccurate reporting and snide comments were briefly suspended. Many rejoicing readers and Twitterers wrote Gossip Cop wishing that it would be permanent. All we can say is spread the word about Gossip Cop to ALL of your friends, and maybe one day that dream will come true.

According to the Daily Mail, “Uma Thurman and her millionaire financier fiance Arpad Busson are to become the first celebrities to marry at Kensington Palace, former home of Princess Diana.” Wow, right?

In a story picked up by Perez Hilton and others, the paper claims the comely couple “booked the palace’s famous Orangery for June next year. The guest list is expected to include Sir Elton John, Sting, Claudia Schiffer and Liz Hurley.” Still following?

Not surprisingly, the Daily Mail has a Thurman “friend” who gave the tab juicy quotations. Says the so-called chum: “Uma wants to get married like a princess . . . She already has an eight-carat diamond ring and now she is planning to get married in a palace.” The unnamed source goes on to say that Thurman and Busson want the palace all to themselves, so in addition to the more than reported $18,000 ceremony and venue fee, “they have hired the rest of the palace to ensure it’s completely private.”

Since the story smelled fishier than the South Street Seaport right from the start, we checked it out, and holy mackerel, Thurman’s rep tells Gossip Cop, “It is all wrong.”
