Michelle Obama will make her first late night TV appearance as First Lady, going on “The Tonight Show with Jay Leno” on January 31.

Mrs. Obama is expected to discuss her “Let’s Move” campaign against childhood obesity, as well as life inside the White House and her upcoming book, “American Grown.”

She appeared on Leno’s program in October 2008, just days before Barack Obama was elected President.

The First Lady recently appeared on an episode of the Nickelodeon series “iCarly” to support an initiative assisting military families.

Kim Kardashian‘s short marriage to Kris Humphries has been fodder for the late night talk show hosts night after night.

Jay Leno, David Letterman, Jimmy Kimmel, and Jimmy Fallon once again took more shots at the reality star’s quickie marriage.

Leno

* “California passed a new law… There’s now a five-day waiting period… before Kim Kardashian can get married again.”

* He also said the sad news is that Kim and Kris are divorcing after just 72 days, “but the good news, Kim says this is the divorce she dreamed about since she was 10.”

Letterman

* Letterman noted that when Regis Philbin “steps aside they’re going to try out replacements… It’s the same thing Kim Kardashian will be doing now.”

* Of the marriage, he said, “Lasted 72 days? …I’ve had Viagra side effects that have lasted longer.”

Kimmel

* After also commenting how Kim and Kris were only married for 72 days, Kimmel said, “I really thought those two were gonna make it to, um… to Thanksgiving.”

* Kimmel said some fans felt betrayed, and now think the couple’s marriage was a fake. He then pointed out that her special was called “‘Kim and Kris’ Fairy Tale Wedding’… Key words being ‘fairy tale’… Do we also believe that ‘Jack and the Beanstalk’ was real?”

Fallon

* Fallon mentioned first that a judge on Wednesday “sentenced Lindsay Lohan to 30 days in jail for violating her probation… Or, as Kim Kardashian put it, ’30 days? That’s like four marriages.’”

* He also said Kardashian claimed her decision to get married had nothing to do with publicity and that she said, “If you don’t believe me, just talk to my publicist.”

Additionally, the entire cast, including Robert Pattinson, are going to tape the “Ellen DeGeneres Show” on Monday, November 14. That show will air on Friday, November 18 when Breaking Dawn hits theaters.

President Obama appears on “The Tonight Show with Jay Leno” on Tuesday, and, among other things, talks about Halloween at the White House and his hesitance to pay much attention (yet) to the race for the Republican presidential nomination.

“Have you been watching the GOP debates?” asks Leno.

Obama replies, “I’m going to wait until everyone’s voted off the island… Once they narrow it down to one or two, I’ll start paying attention.”

On the subject of trick or treating, the President is concerned about First Lady Michelle Obama‘s habit of handing out healthy snacks like fruit and raisins.

“The White House is gonna get egged,” he jokes.

Bill Clinton was a guest on “Late Show with David Letterman,” and while discussing the disparity between the wealthy and less fortunate, the talk show host said he would go after the rich and have them do their “fair share” to help.

Letterman explained, “I’m always looking to blame somebody,” adding, “Isn’t that human nature?”

The former president took issue, and said, “One of the best things about Americans is that we don’t really resent other people’s success,” prompting Letterman to shoot back, “What about Leno?”

Whoa!

Charlie Sheen and Warner Bros. are reportedly close to hammering out a deal to settle their legal issues.

Sheen, who began his legal battle with the studio after being fired from “Two and a Half Men,” will be paid approximately $25 million to settle his contract, reports the Los Angeles Times.

In the wake of Sheen’s partying, refusal to seek help, and publicly blasting Warner Bros. and “Two and a Half Men” creator Chuck Lorre this past spring, the studio canceled the remainder of last season. And following more of Sheen’s verbal attacks, Warner Bros. eventually fired him.

The highest paid actor on TV, Sheen was making $1.2 million an episode. For just the remaining eight episodes that were nixed last season, and the 24 shows he was supposed to have shot this season under his contract, Sheen would have earned $38.4 million — not to mention the millions more those 32 episodes would have generated in rerun residuals.

Whether it’s genuine contrition, growing up, or part of the settlement agreement, a humbled, more apologetic Sheen has emerged this past week.

Sheen admitted to Jay Leno on the “Tonight Show,” “I would have fired my a**, too,” and at the Emmys told the “Two and a Half Men” cast and crew, “From the bottom of my heart I wish you nothing but the best for this upcoming season.”

The new “Two and a Half Men” premieres tonight with Ashton Kutcher.

Charlie Sheen dropped in on “The Tonight Show with Jay Leno” on Thursday to promote his upcoming Comedy Central roast and discuss his wild ride through 2011.

The former “Two and a Half Men” star actually sounded humble and reflective during his appearance, agreeing with Leno that he was “out of control” during last spring’s media frenzy and saying of his bosses’ decision to dump him, “I would have fired my ass, too.”

Sheen describes his catchphrase-laden interviews earlier this year as “a runaway train that I was the reluctant conductor of – and it just kept going.”

As for his “Two and a Half Men” replacement, Ashton Kutcher, Sheen is fully supportive. “It’s hard to give advice to a guy that accomplished… I would just give him a hug and just say, ‘Make me proud, dude.’”

Roseanne Barr announced last night on “The Tonight Show with Jay Leno“: “I am running for President of the United States.”

The former sitcom star, who was showered in red, white, and blue confetti, claimed, “I’m totally serious.”

She explained to Leno, “I want to be part of the debates, because I want to represent the tax payers, and in fact, I’m choosing the tax payers as my vice president.”

The talk show host even had bumper stickers and buttons made up for presidential run.

When asked whether Sarah Palin influenced her decision, Barr quipped, “It’s because of her that I decided to do a reality show,” and then noted, “That’s kinda what got me to thinking that I too should run for president… if she can.”

Barr stated she’s not running as a Republican or a Democrat.

“I’m not for either party ’cause they both suck and they’re both a bunch of criminals,” said Barr, adding, “So I made up my own party. It’s America’s Green Tea Party.”

Of course, like Donald Trump, who floated a possible presidential bid, which resulted in a ratings boost for “Celebrity Apprentice,” Barr is trying to lift the numbers of her new show, “Roseanne’s Nuts,” which follows her as she runs a nut farm in Hawaii.

Lindsay Lohan is serious about getting her acting career back on track.

In a “Tonight Show” interview that aired last night, the Mean Girls star told Jay Leno she’s shooting for Oscar gold.

Leno asked Lohan where she sees herself in five years, to which she replied, “Hopefully sitting here after I’ve won an Oscar. That would be ideal.”

The troubled starlet knows that turning her career around is not going to be easy, but she is prepared to work hard.

“As long as I stay focused, then I will be able to achieve what I want to achieve,” she said.

Lohan admitted to her past indisgressions, most recently, being sentenced to 120 days in jail after she was charged with a probation violation for allegedly stealing a $2,500 necklace from a Venice jewelry store.

“I made a lot of poor decisions in the past,” she said. “And I’m dealing with the consequences of those decisions. So, yeah, there were times when I was concerned [about getting work], but I’m a fighter. And I know I have to work to gain the respect back.”

“I let a lot of my fans down by putting myself in situations when I was young and wasn’t thinking clearly,” she added.

Lindsay Lohan called her 120-day jail sentence “shocking” and said it left her “kind of numb” when she sat down with Jay Leno for a surprise appearance on the “Tonight Show” scheduled to air tonight.

Lohan was greeted with a standing ovation as she walked on to the set to discuss her recent legal troubles.

“At what point did you realize, ‘Oh my God, I could lose this, this could slip away from me?’” Leno asked the starlet.

“I think that when, you know, being young and being in the position I was in, you don’t really take the time to appreciate what you have and it’s all kind of a whirlwind, and people make decisions for you,” she replied.

“But I’m not a kid anymore–I’m 24. I’ve made a lot of mistakes and I recognize that. I’m in the clear now, and as long as I stay focused, I can achieve what I want to achieve.”

Lohan was sentenced to 120 days in jail after she was charged with a probation violation for allegedly stealing a $2,500 necklace from a Venice jewelry store. Lohan’s attorney, Shawn Chapman Holley, appealed the decision, which allowed the actress to post bail and be released three hours later.

Rebecca Black continued her TV blitz with an appearance on “The Tonight Show with Jay Leno.”

The poised 13-year-old YouTube sensation told Leno that being an overnight sensation is “so weird.”

Black then discussed how she recorded “Friday,” and that she was “omigosh yeah” surprised how quickly it took off.

She admitted that cruel comments about her and the song initially hurt. “I cried, you know, but I’m 13… Being a teenager you know, you care about what other people think about you, so I was like all of the world hates me I’m gonna die.” But she says she now doesn’t pay attention to the negativity.

Despite the backlash, Black said she has a fan in Ryan Seacrest, and noted Simon Cowell “wants to meet me.” Other stars who have reached out to her include Nicole Richie, Joel Madden, and Will Smith.

The teen also told Leno she’s giving the big bucks she’s made from the song to those suffering in Japan, as well as to her school.

In Touch magazine is reporting that Lady Gaga is “headed for a breakdown.”

According to the tab, the singer is “locked up in her studio and barely does anything else except work.”

A source tells In Touch that Gaga – set to release the album “Born This Way” in a few months – is “very stressed out right now.”

Added to that, on the personal front Lady Gaga and boyfriend Luc Carl are “going through a rocky patch,” claims the mag, which quotes a “friend” of hers as saying, “She feels Luc is only with her because of her fame and fortune.”

In Touch goes on to say Lady Gaga has been drinking and smoking a lot and “acting increasingly bizarre.”

But other than her famously “bizarre” stage theatrics, the superstar has not been in any kind of spiral.

Gossip Cop looked into a number of the tab’s claims, and they didn’t hold up.

Though the singer does put a ton of time and effort into her work, she’s not “headed for a breakdown,” as the mag says. Nor does Gaga actually believe her relationship with Luc Carl is based on her “fame and fortune.”

A rep for Gaga tells Gossip Cop there is “zero truth” to In Touch‘s story.

Gaga hardly looked like she was going to crash when she appeared two nights ago on “The Tonight Show with Jay Leno.”

Lady Gaga addressed the controversy surrounding her song, “Born This Way,” which some claim is a rip off of Madonna‘s “Express Yourself.”

While appearing on the “Tonight Show with Jay Leno,” the talk show host asked her about the comparison, and Lady Gaga responded by first saying, “There is really no one that is a more adoring or loving Madonna fan than me. I am the hugest fan personally and professionally.”

Then the singer told the audience that she received an e-mail from Madonna and her people “sending me their love and complete support on behalf of the single. And if the queen says it shall be, then it shall be.”

While promoting Eclipse, the topic turned to doing nude scenes. This is what Pattinson said:

“They give you a little robe….the moment where you have to take it off it’s the most…you’re wanting to throw up and your whole body starts failing.  I was doing this thing where I was refusing to look at anyone and just between each take you’d be sitting there convulsing.  And then suddenly I briefly turned around for one second and saw that there – 6 or 7 guys in the room — only briefly the guy looking through the camera lens even wanted to look for more than a second.  And you notice every single person kinda goin’ [he looks away] and then as soon as that happens your like hey I’m sitting here naked alright now I want some respect.”

A source close to the production tells Gossip Cop, Pattinson will be on “The Tonight Show with Jay Leno” on June 15 to promote Eclipse.

Last time around, while promoting New Moon, Pattinson appeared on rival “Late Show with David Letterman,” where the talk show host famously told the Twilight star, “Oh, bite me,” when Pattinson said he’s been “cryptically avoiding” answering whether he’s dating Kristen Stewart.

For the first time since the dramatic end to his tenure as “Tonight Show” host, Conan O’Brien returned to Universal Studios on Saturday night.

O’Brien took his Legally Prohibited From Being Funny on Television tour to the Gibson Amphitheatre, only hundreds of yards from where his doomed 11:30PM NBC show used to tape.

“This is my first time back at Universal Studios since I lost my job,” O’Brien told fans, eliciting boos toward his former employers. “Don’t boo too loudly. If you listen very carefully, you can hear bad ideas being greenlit.”

Jim Carrey, Jonah Hill and Jon Hamm were among the live show’s surprise guests, along with current NBC stars Jack MacBrayer (“30 Rock”) and Aziz Ansari (“Parks and Recreation”).

O’Brien will perform again at the Gibson Amphitheatre tonight. His new TBS talk show doesn’t yet have an announced location.

It won’t send the same shock waves as today’s other big announcement in late-night television, but a long-time player in the genre is leaving.

Kevin Eubanks will conclude 18 years as musical director for Jay Leno six weeks from now. Eubanks made the announcement during today’s taping of “The Tonight Show.”

There have been rumblings of a Eubanks exit over the last few tumultuous months at NBC, during which time Leno returned to the “Tonight Show” desk after a brief run with prime time’s “The Jay Leno Show.”

During the April 12 taping of NBC’s “The Tonight Show with Jay Leno,” music director Kevin Eubanks confirmed that he will be departing from the late-night show after being featured on the program for 18 years.

Following the traditional “Headlines” segment, host Jay Leno welcomed Eubanks to the couch that so many celebrities and politicians have used in the program’s history to make newsworthy announcements. “Now we have one more headline to get to and it involves our very own Kevin Eubanks,” said Leno.

Eubanks explained: “After 18 years, I just need a change of pace and see what else is going on. But it’s a really difficult decision because this has become my second home, as it has been for the band, and I love the audience and the American people really love the show and it’s been a wonderful experience to be here.”

The duo explained that Eubanks would continue his role on the show for another six weeks.

Leno replied: “It has been a pleasure. You’ve been a great friend and really supportive. When those jokes die, I gotta look to you man.” Leno also joked about their “date nights” where the two preview the upcoming films that the show’s guests are promoting.

When Leno asked the guitarist what the first thing he would do after leaving the show would be. Eubanks answered and joked: “I thought about this and it wasn’t that difficult. After 18 years of playing America in to commercials, I’m gonna go somewhere where I can finish a song.”

CBS offered Conan O’Brien the job of hosting this year’s Tony Awards, which take place in New York on June 13, confirms his rep to Gossip Cop.

The rep added that O’Brien “passed” on the gig.

However, sources say that because of O’Brien’s exit deal with NBC, which stipulated he can’t perform on TV  until September 1 – in exchange for, among other things, the nearly $45 million payout he and his former “Tonight Show” staff received – the carrot-topped comedian was unable to accept.

And while O’Brien won’t host the awards which honor Broadway shows, he will himself be taking the stage with his “Legally Prohibited From Being Funny on Television Tour,” beginning April 12 in Eugene, Oregon.

While not directly saying it, Simon Cowell essentially confirmed his engagement to Mezhgan Hussainy on Monday’s “The Tonight Show with Jay Leno.”

The host asked the “American Idol” judge, “Are rumors you’re engaged true?”

Cowell responded, “Are they true? Well, I do have somebody in my life now, Jay, yes. And I kinda made a decision this year to make somebody happy.”

Uncharacteristically uncomfortable, the Brit turned red when Leno pressed for details. “I am blushing,” he admitted.

Leno later invited Hussainy, who was seated in the audience, to join Cowell on stage.

Cowell wouldn’t say when a potential wedding will take place, nor was he sure about becoming a father. “I’m kind of torn because I’m a bit too old to have kids,” he explained, “But then again I think it would be important to have a lot of me’s around in the future.”

Reports everywhere today had Conan O’Brien scheduling his first stage show for April 30 and the event listed on Ticketmaster.

However, Gossip Cop has learned from a representative for the former “Tonight Show” host that the booking was “premature,” and that nothing will be announced until early next week.

Ticketmaster had listed an 8:00 PM show at the Dodge Theatre in Phoenix, AZ on April 30, which would be the first announced date of a string of performances for the happily tweeting but unemployed O’Brien.

The site has since pulled down the page.

Although it is still not known what O’Brien’s stage show will look like, Gossip Cop does hear from sources that it’s expected to happen, and that details will be coming soon.

Lindsey Vonn got her wish at the Olympics.

Sure, the alpine skier won a couple of medals, but what Vonn really wanted was a part on her favorite TV show, “Law & Order.”

In fact, she was willing to just play a corpse on the show, but now she has gotten something even better.

Vonn, who won a gold medal in the downhill and a bronze in the super-G, was told last night that “Law & Order” creator Dick Wolf has cast her – in an upcoming episode – as a jury forewoman.

Rarely do the words “skier” and “cast” go well, but they work just fine here for Lindsey Vonn.

And you won’t have to wait too long to see Vonn on TV. She will also be among Jay Leno‘s first guests tomorrow night when again takes over as the host of “The Tonight Show.”

Perez Hilton, who can’t be bothered with fact-checking, titled a post, “Leno’s Sidekick Leaves The Tonight Show,” when, in reality, Kevin Eubanks has NOT left the show.

According to Hilton, “Kevin Eubanks, Jay Leno‘s trusted bandleader and sidekick, has decided to leave his longtime gig on The Tonight Show. Kevin admitted he wanted a ‘change’ and is hoping to pursue other opportunities. Rumored to replace the band-man: Hootie and the Blowfish crooner Darius Rucker.”

Since Gossip Cop does fact-check, here’s the real deal.

An NBC source tells Gossip Cop that talk of Eubanks leaving is “premature and inaccurate.” In fact, Eubanks has been shooting promos for the “Tonight Show with Jay Leno,” which returns March 1.

It is true, though, that Eubanks spoke to the show’s producers, and said he would like record and tour more. “He’s coming back, but he’s talked about wanting to take time off” for his outside music projects, said the source.

The source went on to stress that, while a Eubanks departure could occur down the road, right now it’s “premature,” and talk about replacements is off base, especially Perez’s speculation that Rucker will take over.

“No one’s looking” for a new band leader now, said the source.

Gossip Cop will follow this story as Eubanks and the producers have further discussions.

The following is a partial transcript from Jay Leno‘s interview with Oprah Winfrey, scheduled to air tomorrow.

Oprah:  “Have you talked to Conan in person?”

Jay:  “I haven’t talked to him through all this.  No.  I haven’t.”

Oprah:  “Did you want to pick up the phone?”

Jay:  “Yeah, but it didn’t seem appropriate.”

Oprah:  “Why?”

Jay:  “I don’t know.  I think it—let things cool down and maybe we’ll talk, you know?”

Oprah:  “Were any of the things that he said about you hurtful?”

Jay:  “No.  They were jokes.  And that’s okay. I mean—”

Oprah:  “So jokes don’t hurt you.”

Jay:  “It’s what we do, you know?  You can’t—it’s like being a fighter and say when you got punched in the head, did it hurt?  Well, yeah.  But you’re a fighter.  That’s what you do.”

The early numbers are in, and all signs point to Conan O’Brien handily beating both David Letterman and Jimmy Kimmel. 

Preliminary Nielsen ratings indicate that O’Brien crushed the competition in his final hour hosting “The Tonight Show,” having nabbed a 7.0 rating compared to a 2.5 rating for “Late Show with David Letterman” and a (2.8 for “Nightline” and) 1.3 for “Jimmy Kimmel Live!”

Granted, this is all TV mumbo jumbo and the final numbers won’t be in until later this week, but trust Gossip Cop, O’Brien went out BIG.

In other O’Brien news, Perez Hilton recently reported, “sources reveal exclusively to us that O’Brien has hired a crisis management company in Los Angeles,” an agency named Sitrick and Company, to thwart “the bad publicity affecting his career.” Perez snarkily added, “Good luck with that.”

You are NEVER going to believe this: Perez is wrong.

O’Brien never hired a crisis management team. The carrot-topped comedian still has one PR agency handling ALL of his publicity.
