Twitter has announced its top “Hot Topics” of 2011, and there a a few surprising entries.

Charlie Sheen was the top-trending actor for the year, and the late Elizabeth Taylor was #1 among actresses.

Thor led movies, while “Pretty Little Liars” was tops for TV and Rebecca Black was (amazingly) the biggest Twitter trend in music.

The methodology behind these rankings is not entirely clear, making some of the selections seem… odd.

In any case, here are some of the celeb-oriented rankings Twitter compiled for the year that was:

“R-Pattz Starts War with Thor,” reads the headline of a piece in Now magazine that’s being picked up by a number of webloids.

According to Now, “Robert Pattinson‘s had a brawl with girlfriend Kristen Stewart‘s new co-star Chris Hemsworth.”

The tab says that while visiting the set of Snow White and the Huntsman, Pattinson “started mocking the Thor star’s Aussie accent,” and next thing, “They had to be pulled apart.”

Now claims “Kristen isn’t happy” after her man and Hemsworth had “a fight.”

Actually the only “fight” is the one Gossip Cop is having to hold back our laughter.

There was no “war,” “brawl,” or “fight.

A source close to the production tells us the Now story is “complete nonsense.”

Kristen Stewart and her Snow White and the Huntsman co-stars were at Comic-Con on Saturday to discuss the film which begins production next week, and is set to be released on June 1, 2012 —  10 weeks after the release of the “Snow White” project starring Lily Collins and Julia Roberts.

As you can see from the image (at right), Stewart’s Snow White is more warrior than princess.

The actress noted at Comic-Con that her character “truly does not let her heart cloud her mind… Also I get to have a sword and stuff, and really cool weapons.”

Charlize Theron, who plays the Evil Queen called her character “dark,” adding, “She’s a serial killer.”

Chris Hemsworth, hot off of Thor, plays the Huntsman, and Sam Claflin stars as the Prince.

But Claflin pointed out his prince is not the typical fairy tale kind. “The prince is not necessarily as charming as one would hope,” he said.

Also, unlike the Disney classic about Snow White, probably because of legal issues, Snow White and the Huntsman has eight dwarfs, not seven like Sleepy and Happy.

Hmm… The eighth named Attorney?

Throwback family sci-fi film Super 8 has won this weekend’s box office title with an impressive take of $37 million.

That puts the new release ahead of X-Men: First Class, which nabbed the number two spot with $25 million in its second week.

Third place went to The Hangover Part II, which earned $18.5 million, followed by Kung Fu Panda 2 with $16.6 million.

Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides, which has sailed past $200 million overall, secured fifth place with $10.4 million in ticket sales this weekend.

Rounding out the Top Ten are Bridesmaids ($10.2 million), Judy Moody and the Not Bummer Summer ($6.1 million), Midnight in Paris ($6.1 million), Thor ($2.3 million), and Fast Five ($1.8 million).

Superheroes beat out the Wolfpack at this weekend’s box office.

X-Men: First Class earned $54 million for the top spot, making it the best-ever opening for a movie about mutants’ involvement in the Cuban Missile Crisis.

The Hangover Part II continued to do well in its second week, raking in $33.5 million to come in second.

Kung Fu Panda 2 secured third place with $25 million.

Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides and Bridesmaids came in fourth and fifth place with $19 million and $12.5 million, respectively.

Rounding out the Top Ten were Thor ($4.2 million), Fast Five ($3.4 million), Midnight in Paris ($2.7 million), Something Borrowed ($1 million) and Jumping the Broom ($825,000).

Waking up dazed and confused has never been so profitable.

The Hangover Part 2 scored HUGE at the box office, with a Memorial Day Weekend total of $105 million, making it the best opening in history for an R-rated comedy.

Previously, Sex and the City held the record at $79 million.

Bradley Cooper, Ed Helms and Zach Galifianakis‘ romp through Bangkok easily takes the top spot.

Kung Fu Panda 2 and Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides came in second and third with $62 million and $53 million, respectively.

The female-driven raunch-com Bridesmaids finished in a solid fourth place with $21.5 million.

And Thor secured fifth place with $11 million.

Rounding out the Top Ten this Memorial Day Weekend are Fast Five ($9 million), Midnight in Paris ($2.6 million), Jumping the Broom ($2.5 million), Rio ($2.5 million) and Priest ($2.2 million).

Johnny Depp and Penelope Cruz‘s blockbuster Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides sailed smoothly to the top spot with $90.1 million in its debut.

Plus, the film earned $256.3 million overseas, making it the biggest international opening ever.

Meanwhile, the raunchy comedy Bridesmaids took a strong second place with $21.1 million.

Holdover action movies Thor ($15.5 million) and Fast Five ($10.2 million) came in third and fourth, respectively.

And family flick Rio finished in fifth with $4.7 million in its sixth week at the box office.

Rounding out the Top Ten were the graphic novel adaptation Priest ($4.6 million), Jumping The Broom (3.7 million), Something Borrowed ($3.5 million), Water For Elephants ($2.3 million), and Madea’s Big Happy Family ($1 million).

“THOR WARS,” reads a nicely rhymed headline from the National Enquirer, which claims Liam Hemsworth is furious with his older brother Chris for beating him out for the title role in the superhero flick.

The tab notes that both Hemsworths initially auditioned for the lead in Thor, and the fact that Liam lost out on the gig to his brother has supposedly resulted in a “glacier-size rift” between them.

A so-called “insider” explains that the film’s box office success has torn the brothers even further apart, saying, “Chris and Liam used to be best friends, but they’re barely speaking lately.”

The younger Hemsworth allegedly went so far as to accuse his brother of being a “backstabbing traitor.”

Seriously?

Nope.

A rep for Liam tells calls the tab’s tale “trash,” and tells us it’s “so stupid and couldn’t be further from the truth.”

Actually, the only glacier-sized rift is between the Enquirer‘s reporting and the truth.

Thor hammered the competition again at the box office.

Chris Hemsworth‘s comic book goliath earned $34.5 million this weekend to fend off Bridesmaids, the Kristen Wiig-led ensemble comedy, which took second place with a higher than expected $24.4 million.

Coming in third was Fast Five, which banked $19.5 million in its third weekend.

The new release Priest nabbed $14.6 million in ticket sales, while Rio made $8 million, for fourth and fifth places, respectively.

Rounding out the Top Ten were Something Borrowed ($7.5 million), Jump the Broom ($6.5 million), Water for Elephants ($4.2 million), Madea’s Big Happy Family ($1.9 million), and Soul Surfer ($1.5 million).

Chris Hemsworth has been offered the Huntsman role in Snow White and the Huntsman, starring Kristen Stewart and Charlize Theron.

As Gossip Cop reported earlier this month, he jumped to the top of Snow White‘s list after deals with actors Viggo Mortensen and Hugh Jackman failed to materialize.

The Aussie actor’s Thor won last weekend’s box office.

Sam Claflin, meanwhile, has been tapped to play the film’s prince.

Thor hammered the competition in its opening weekend to earn $66 million and the #1 spot.

The Chris Hemsworth-Natalie Portman comic book adaptation more than doubled the box office take of last week’s champ, Fast Five, which sped to second place with $32.5 million in ticket sales.

Grabbing third place place was Jumping the Broom, which made $13.7 million and edged out Something Borrowed with $13.2 million.

Rio came in fifth place with $9.6 million.

Round out the Top Ten were Water for Elephants ($5.8 million), Madea’s Big Happy Family ($4 million), Prom ($2.5 million), Hoodwinked Too! ($2.3 million), and Soul Surfer ($2 million).

Chris Hemsworth is reportedly the new front runner for the lead male role in Snow White and the Huntsman.

The Thor hero would join expected stars Kristen Stewart (Snow White) and Charlize Theron (Evil Queen) in the Rupert Sanders project, one of two major Snow White adaptations being readied for theaters.

Multiple outlets are reporting that Hemsworth is the studio’s current top choice, especially as Thor puts up big international box office numbers (it will be released in the United States this Friday).

However, nothing – not even an offer – has been confirmed, and it’s worth noting that deals for potential huntsmen Viggo Mortensen and Hugh Jackman failed to close.

Gossip Cop is waiting for comment from Hemsworth’s camp.

Chris Hemsworth and girlfriend Elsa Pataky have tied the knot, his rep confirms to Gossip Cop.

Snakes on a Plane actress Pataky and Hemsworth, who plays the title character in the upcoming film, Thor, and will reprise the role in The Avengers, got married over the holidays.

No further details were readily available.

“There’s already drama behind the scenes of the highly anticipated flick ‘Thor,’” claims the New York Daily News, adding, “and we hear it’s being stirred up by none other than Anthony Hopkins.”

According to the paper, Hopkins is “constantly trying to ‘direct’ Chris Hemsworth,” who stars as Thor. Hopkins plays Thor’s father in the film, based on the comic book.

A Daily News “source” says, “Anthony has not tried to hide his disapproval of Chris’ acting skills,” who the “insider” notes, “respects Anthony a great deal, and it looks like he’s trying to grin and bear all of his criticism.”

Still, says the tab, director Kenneth Branagh is “annoyed” with Sir Anthony.

So is there really more drama between the stars than in the film’s script?

Gossip Cop reached out to a Marvel rep, who called the Daily News’ article, “100% false.”

But that’s not all. We also contacted Hopkins’s wife, Stella Hopkins, who has been fielding calls for the legendary star. She told Gossip Cop the report was a “horrific, vile lie,” and that they are going to “talk to [their] lawyers.”

Thanks to a misleading piece in… wait for it… wait for it… Star magazine, Natalie Portman is being linked to “Star Trek” hunk Chris Hemsworth, her co-star in “Thor,” which has yet to begin production.

The Star has an amazingly wrong “insider” claim, “Sparks have been flying since their first meeting,” adding equally incorrectly, “He seems to have a crush on her, and she clearly loves the attention.”

A rep for Portman, who was surprised by the off-base report, told Gossip Cop, “This is not true.”

Nevertheless, a slew of sites, which didn’t fact-check the item, ran with the story under such headlines as “Natalie Portman and ‘Thor’ Castmate Chris Hemsworth Dating!” and “Natalie Portman dating Star Trek actor.”

Perez should have this cut-and-pasted by later today.

Are Vito Corleone and Dr. Watson set to join “Thor”?

Actor Matthias Schweighöfer told German GQ that he’s in the running to join Kenneth Branagh‘s comic book movie starring Chris Hemsworth and Natalie Portman, but what really caught everyone’s eye was his claim that Branagh had already cast two other actors you may have heard of: Robert De Niro and Jude Law.

Dozens of major industry gossip sites, including Ain’t It Cool News, are picking up the story and wondering who De Niro and Law will play.

Well, they can stop wondering. A rep for Law tells Gossip Cop rumors of the actor joining the film are “not true.”

Gossip Cop checked around, and as far as we can tell, De Niro won’t be doing “Thor” either.
