The animated new release about the trials and tribulations of being a video game villain easily won the weekend with $49.1 million in ticket sales, beating the debut of Denzel Washington’s drama Flight, which came in a distant second with $25 million.

Ben Affleck’s political thriller Argo nabbed third place with $10.2 million.

Last night, “The Gladiator” star went off on circumcision. Crowe tweeted, “Circumcision is barbaric and stupid… if u feel it is yr right 2 cut things off yr babies please unfollow and f**k off, I’ll take attentive parenting over barbarism.”
