“Amy Winehouse was adopting girl of 10,” reads the headline of an “exclusive” in The Mirror.

According to the British tab, Winehouse “had started the process of becoming a mum to 10-year-old Dannika Augustine,” who she met on the Caribbean island of St. Lucia two years ago.

Dannika, who lives in poverty with her single mom, even told The Mirror, “Amy was already my mother. I would call her mum and she would call me her daughter. She took care of me and we had fun together. I loved her and she loved me… She was the most amazing person and I was looking forward to living with her here or in London. I cannot believe she is gone. This is the worst thing that ever happened to me.”

Dannika’s grandmother, Marjorie Lambert, who runs a beach bar in St. Lucia, is also quoted in the tab saying, “Amy used to beg me: ‘I want to adopt Dannika. I want to take her to England.’ She was prepared to move to St. Lucia to be her full-time mum… Amy wanted to have a child so bad. If she had not died, there is no doubt she would be here in St. Lucia completing the adoption process. There is no way she would have done what she did to herself if Dannika was with her.”

This is all a very touching and compelling story — so much so that places like TMZ was completely duped by it.

But a rep for Winehouse confirms exclusively to Gossip Cop, “There’s no truth to it.”

Maybe some media outlets should adopt better fact-checking skills.

On the heels of her breakup with Yankees player Alex Rodriguez, Kate Hudson is now dating Muse musician Matt Bellamy, and is reportedly introducing him to her family.

The two began dating a few months ago and have kept a low-profile until recently.

Now Hudson, who has a son with ex Chris Robinson, is apparently ready to take the relationship to the next level.

Bellamy says he hasn’t met Hudson’s mom, Goldie Hawn, yet but they are “meeting up next week.”

“I’m quite nervous,” the rocker admits.

Could wedding bells be far behind?

“It’s a little bit too soon to talk about weddings and stuff,” Bellamy tells The Daily Mirror.

“Ask me again in a few months though,” he playfully says. “I’ll let you know how it went with Goldie – and then who knows?”

According to the brief story, the “Friends” star is planning on opening her very own eatery. The piece even quotes Aniston saying, “If all goes well I hope to open a Mexican restaurant in New York City in 2010… I love Mexican food. I’ll mingle with customers and be a guest waitress.”

Sorry, but this story doesn’t amount to a hill of beans.

Gossip Cop checked with Aniston’s rep, who assured us it’s “not true.”

Rihanna never ever said, “I could see myself in a relationship with a girl.”

Nevertheless, the quote was attributed to her, and rumors of her being a lesbian have exploded all over the Internet and onto the pages of numerous newspapers.

The Mirror, for instance, wrote: “Rihanna has revealed she is attracted to women – and would love a fling with Hollywood stunner Megan Fox.”

The article continued, “The Umbrella star – who was badly beaten-up by her ex boyfriend Chris Brown in February – said could see herself with a girlfriend in the future. The Barbadian singer said: ‘All humans are born with the ability to be attracted to both sexes. I mean, I could see myself in a relationship with a girl.’”

And websites like StarPulse similarly reported, under the headline “Rihanna Is Open To A Lesbian Romance,” that she “won’t rule out a same-sex romance,” having said, “All humans are born with the ability to be attracted to both sexes. I could see myself in a relationship with a girl.”

Again, the problem is Rihanna NEVER said those words – Megan Fox did.

In the original interview, upon which all this false information disseminated, Rihanna told the Daily Star – in response to whether she would like to break into acting — “I’d love to be an assassin. Either that or a lesbian. Maybe both! Hey, a gay assassin, there’s nothing hotter than that.”

And when asked who she would like to play opposite, “She purred: ‘Megan Fox – hands down. She’s yummy. She’s hot.’”

Here’s where the (sexual) confusion comes in…

The Daily Star then wrote that Fox “has never been shy about her penchant for… the ladies. She said: ‘All humans are born with the ability to be attracted to both sexes. I mean, I could see myself in a relationship with a girl.’”

Many outlets mistook the “She said” to mean that Rihanna uttered those words when, in fact, it was a quote Fox gave to the October 2008 issue of GQ, though, for full disclosure, the “Transformers” star also prefaced it with “I’m not a lesbian.”

While several outlets out there should be sorry for their wrongly reported stories, Gossip Cop would like to apologize to the guys out there whose TWO fantasies we crushed in one single post.

“Is love Blooming again for our Jen,” reads a headline in the Mirror, which tries to link Jennifer Aniston and Orlando Bloom.

The article tauntingly asks, “If they’re just good Friends, how come Jennifer Aniston and Orlando Bloom seem so keen not to be seen together?”

Aniston and Bloom both landed in London’s Heathrow airport yesterday, but didn’t want to be photographed together, which caused some journalists and bloggers to speculate that they were hiding more than just their faces.

The Mirror even reports that they “were seen sneaking off together in a car outside.”

Hardly sneaking.

In fact, Aniston and Bloom were spotted later… in Morocco!

They were both at a bash for the re-opening of Marrakech’s famed Hotel La Mamounia.

Oh, one more thing: Bloom was at the party with…  girlfriend Miranda Kerr.

Gossip Cop fully understands what Aniston and Bloom had to contend with. We’re still battling rumors from that same time we were in LAX as Rue McClanahan.

“Harry Potter idol Daniel Radcliffe laughed his head off as he smoked pot at a party,” begins an explosive cover story in the Daily Mirror.

According to the article, Radcliffe walked around a recent London party saying, “I love weed.”

One guest named Wadia Tazi told the paper, Radcliffe “looked spaced out and didn’t look like he knew what was going on.”

So much so, claims the British tabloid, that Radcliffe allowed one woman to draw a moustache and beard on his face. Tazi said, “Daniel was laughing and seemed to find it funny. But he didn’t really look like he knew what was going on.”

Last year the multimillionaire star was quoted as saying, “I’ve been around some amazing people and still managed to keep a real childlike view of the world. I’m not into drugs.”

Nevertheless, Tazi told the Daily Mirror that while he and Radcliffe were in the kitchen of their apartment where the party was thrown, “He pulled out a huge joint and lit up.”

Well, this story sounds damning. But does the weed report smell bad, too?

A rep for Radcliffe quickly issued the following statement: “We categorically deny the allegations regarding Daniel Radcliffe published in today’s Daily Mirror. Daniel does smoke the occasional roll-up cigarette, but he was not doing anything more than this. We are considering our position and will be taking all necessary action in relation to such allegations.”

It was bound to happen. Place Lindsay Lohan and Gerard Butler in the same room (or even in just the same country) –– voila! — you have the perfect tabloid tale since they’re both often the subjects of wrongly reported romance rumors.

And that is precisely what was done by the British papers like the Mirror, the Daily Mail, and a slew of bad bloggers.

The Mirror kicked it all off by claiming that, at the opening of the Mazagan Beach Resort in Morocco, Lohan “was locking lips with gorgeous RocknRolla star Gerard.” The tab alleged they were first “dirty dancing,” and “ended up in a corner snogging [kissing], followed by more dancing and flirting.” Next, reported the tab, “we saw them leaving together.”

Here’s what’s true: They were in Morocco.

Here’s what’s not true: Everything else.

Lohan tells Gossip Cop it’s “such a lie!”

And if that’s not enough, better look out, because a rep for Butler told Gossip Cop, “It is completely untrue and we are taking action against these claims.”

The music industry got all shook up after the Daily Mirror reported, “Elvis Presley lives on as lookalike teenage grandson Benjamin scores $5 million record deal.”

According to the tab, “The 17-year-old grandson of Elvis Presley has been offered a $5 million record deal to make up to five albums” for Universal Records. The ridiculous report, which was picked up by equally ridiculous outlets like Perez Hilton, states that Benjamin Keough, the son of Lisa Marie Presley and musician Danny Keough, has already begun work on his first album, “but says it will be very different in style to his grandfather’s music, who died 15 years before he was born.”

The article quotes a spokesman saying, “He’s a typical 17-year-old,… He doesn’t get up before midday and then grunts at you.”

Gossip Cop’s suspicious minds decided to investigate, and here’s what’s true and here’s what is not true.

True: Ben looks like his grandfather Elvis.

Not true: Everything else.

First of all, Ben doesn’t have a spokesman. But his mom’s spokeswoman tells Gossip Cop, the $5 million record deal “is completely made up,” and that Ben’s “a student right now.”

Additionally, a spokesman for Universal Music confirmed to Gossip Cop that these reports are absolutely “not true.”

A British magazine is claiming a detailed interview with Robert Pattinson in which the “Twilight” sensation talks about not having a girlfriend and his trouble with women even after international stardom.

Whoa. Gossip Cop just had the strangest feeling of deja vu.

Could it be because Now Magazine is taking quotations today DIRECTLY from a Daily Mirror “exclusive” with Pattinson back in August that Gossip Cop proved he never gave?

In fact, the Mirror‘s fabrications were so egregious, Pattinson’s rep gave an exclusive comment to Gossip Cop at the time, saying: “I will only comment on matters regarding Robert’s professional life, but in order to set the record straight, Robert did not speak to the Mirror, and their claim that they spoke to him a few days ago is manufactured along with any information that they claim to have as an exclusive directly from him.”

In August’s phony Mirror piece, Pattinson was quoted as saying, “You always think you’re going to get more girls after you’ve made a movie and it never happens.” Sound familiar? In Now he allegedly says (drum roll), “You always think you’re going to get more girls after you’ve made a movie and it never happens.”

Today Gossip Cop sent a letter to Now Magazine’s publisher that said, ”Your purported interview with Robert Pattinson is a complete fabrication.”  We also asked, “Is the reason there was no byline because no one wanted to admit to cribbing these fictitious quotes? I think you owe your readers an apology, and should immediately pull this article from your website.”

Gossip Cop will let you know if Now responds.

A rep for Robert Pattinson has given GossipCop.com an exclusive statement regarding the actor’s supposed interview with The Mirror:

“I will only comment on matters regarding Robert’s professional life, but in order to set the record straight, Robert did not speak to the Mirror, and their claim that they spoke to him a few days ago is manufactured along with any information that they claim to have as an exclusive directly from him.”

Gossip Cop thinks we can close the book on this one.

The Daily Mirror, out of England, claims in a headline: “Twighlight exclusive – Robert Pattinson: I haven’t got a girlfriend.” Exclusive nonsense.

Let’s look at some of the facts, shall we?

First, these clowns can’t even spell “Twilight” correctly in the headline.

Next, after the “exclusive” begins, it notes that Pattinson and Kristen Stewart “were caught snuggling up together at a Kings of Leon concert in Vancouver where they’re filming the hotly-awaited movie sequel The Twilight Saga: New Moon.” Doh! They’re filming “Eclipse.”

So maybe this “exclusive” is just an old exclusive. But in the next paragraph it reads, “In an exclusive interview with the vampire just days before the pictures [of him and Stewart] were taken, heart-throb Robert insists he’s still single and adds: “I don’t have a girlfriend.”

A few things come to mind: (1) the story sounds made up (2) why would the Mirror hold onto an “exclusive” interview with Pattinson for about a week before publishing it (3) the star was in Los Angeles at around the time of the alleged interview, and Gossip Cop knows for a fact that he was not sitting down to talk about his personal life (4) the story sounds made up. Oh, did we say that already? And (5) no one from the Mirror could answer Gossip Cop’s question about when or where the interview was conducted, but said they would get back to us (we’re still waiting).

Even though we’ve established that this “exclusive” seems fabricated, we’ll still share with you a couple of “quotes” – for laughs – that the Mirror claims the incredibly popular and private star said.

Among the nuggets are “You always think you’re going to get more girls after you’ve made a movie and it never happens,” and “You sit there and you’re like ‘I’m a big movie star and I want to go out with some models’ but I don’t know why that doesn’t happen.”

It’s pieces like this that make Gossip Cop want to “Moon” the Mirror.
