Ice Age 4: Continental Drift Freezes Out Spider-Man and Ted For Weekend Win

Ice Age 4: Continental Drift, the latest installment in the hugely successful animated franchise, won its debut weekend at the box office.

The toon took in $46 million, good enough to top The Amazing Spider-Man, which earned second place with $35 million.

Ted nabbed third with $22.1 million.

After a big mid-holiday week opening, The Amazing Spider-Man swung to the top of a crowded box office.

The Andrew Garfield-Emma Stone superhero reboot earned $65 million for the weekend, giving it an easy win over three still-strong holdovers.

Foul-mouthed stuffed bear comedy Ted took second place with $32.6 million.

Pixar’s latest animated adventure Brave nabbed third with $20.2 million in ticket sales.

Ted Outstrips Magic Mike For Top Spot

The foul-mouthed bear is box office king.

Ted, starring Mark Wahlberg, Mila Kunis and director Seth MacFarlane as a pot-smoking, dirty-minded stuffed animal, won its debut weekend with a box office take of $54.1 million.

Another new release, Channing Tatum’s male stripper extravaganza Magic Mike, came in second with an impressive $39.2 million.

Last week’s winner, Pixar adventure Brave, secured third place with $35.5 million.
