The first official movie poster for “The Hunger Games” has been released, and it’s a sure indication that the onscreen adaptation of the Suzanne Collins novel will be on fire.

The motion poster features the heroine Katniss Everdeen’s mockingjay pin enveloped in flames, symbolizing her nickname for the Games as “The girl who was on fire.”

Jennifer Lawrence will play heroine Katniss Everdeen in the film adaptation of the massively popular “Hunger Games” book series, Gossip Cop confirms!

“I can’t wait to work with Jen and see her bring this character to life,” says director Gary Ross.

“Katniss requires a young actress with strength, depth, complexity, tenderness, and power. There are very few people alive who can bring that to a role. Jen brings it in spades. She’s going to be an amazing Katniss.”

Jennifer Lawrence is the front-runner for the lead role of Katniss Everdeen in the film adaptation of the massively popular ‘Hunger Games’ book series.

The ‘Winter’s Bone’ Oscar nominee has not been confirmed for Everdeen, but multiple reports place her ahead of other rumored contenders, including Hailee Steinfeld and Abigail Breslin.
