Kelly Clarkson has been tapped to sing the national anthem at Super Bowl XLVI on February 5 in Indianapolis.

The “American Idol” winner, who performed last weekend on “Saturday Night Live,” will be joined by country music couple Miranda Lambert and Blake Shelton, who are slated to sing “America the Beautiful” during the pre-game.

Two months after Gossip Cop first reported that Madonna was going to be the halftime performer at Super Bowl XLVI, it’s official!

On Sunday night, during the Detroit Lions and New Orleans Saints game, NBC and the NFL announced that Madonna would the Super Bowl’s headlining act at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis on February 5, 2012.

Apparently, the tension between Ashton Kutcher and George W. Bush at Super Bowl XLV made the Packers and Steelers seem like best friends by comparison.

During an interview with BBC Radio 1, Kutcher talks about his experience sitting behind the former President during last Sunday’s big game in Dallas.

“I don’t think he’s very happy with me. He just was not very nice to me. He just kind of snubbed me a little bit,” Kutcher said of Bush.

FOX’s broadcast hit a 47.9 rating and 71 share in metered markets, tying it with the 1987 Super Bowl as the highest rated in history.

The game was 3 percent higher than last year’s Saints-Colts tilt.
