The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department reportedly plans to hand the Mel Gibson-Oksana Grigorieva domestic violence case to prosecutors.

The goal is to pass control to the District Attorney’s office in two weeks.

UPDATE – 7:00 PM -

Lindsay Lohan will serve only about 14 days of her 90-day jail sentence, provided she behaves herself.

“She is scheduled to be released on either August 1 or 2 for overcrowding issues and good behavior,” confirms Steve Whitmore of the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s department.

It is standard procedure to release nonviolent misdemeanor offenders early in the L.A. County jail system given its facilities’ problems with overcrowding.
