Demi Lovato So Random! Sonny With a Chance

Demi Lovato is leaving “Sonny with a Chance.”

The young star has opted out of her Disney Channel show to focus on her health and recovery, Gossip Cop confirms.

The actress entered treatment for “physical and emotional issues” last October. She returned home in January.

“We respect Demi’s decision to focus full-time on her music and not immediately return to her acting career,” said Disney in a statement.

“She is a talented young woman and our hearts are with her as she continues to take action to improve her health and bounce back from adversity.”

Demi Lovato’s treatment for personal issues will result in changes to her hit TV show.

The Disney Channel’s “Sonny With a Chance” will be tweaked while its star recovers, with producers playing up the importance of the show-within-a-show, “So Random!”

“So Random!” is a sketch comedy show starring many of the “Sonny” cast members.

The change will allow production on the third season of “Sonny” to begin in January 2011 as scheduled.
