Shakira announced today that she and her longtime boyfriend Antonio de la Rua have split up after more than a decade of being together.

She wrote on her blog, “During our almost 11 years together we have loved each other deeply, taken care of each other and stood by one another.” Still, the singer noted, they mutually agreed to break up in August “to take time apart from our romantic relationship.” Are you surprised by their split?
