Every year on the eve of the Oscars, which honors the best in filmmaking, the Razzies are handed out for the worst movies and acting.

Last night in L.A. at the 31st Annual Razzie Awards, The Last Airbender and Sex and the City 2 were the big “winners.”

M. Night Shyamalan’s The Last Airbender swept Razzies for, among other categories, Worst Picture, Worst Director and Worst Screenplay.

Meanwhile, Sex and the City 2 won Worst Sequel, Worst Ensemble and Worst Actress, which was shared by Sarah Jessica Parker, Kim Cattrall, Kristen Davis and Cynthia Nixon.

Worst Actor went to Ashton Kutcher for his work in Killers and Valentine’s Day.

Kutcher’s Valentine’s Day co-star Jessica Alba was awarded the Razzie for Worst Supporting Actress for her role in that film, as well as Machete, The Killer Inside Me, and Little Fockers.

And Jackson Rathbone was bestowed with the dubious honor of Worst Supporting Actor for his portrayal in The Last Airbender and Eclipse.

According to the National Enquirer, “Sarah Jessica Parker made no bones about blaming lackluster fan response to ‘Sex and the City 2′ on just ONE man – veteran director/writer Michael Patrick King, who helmed the prior ‘Sex’ flick and many of the TV episodes.”

The tab quotes a so-called “source” as saying, “Don’t look for Michael on future projects – SJP feels he’s lost his hit-making touch.”

That same alleged insider says she had doubts about the last film’s plot, but King “told her to trust him. She did – but she won’t make that mistake again!”

Gossip Cop isn’t sure who the Enquirer  is speaking to, but Parker’s own rep says it’s “not true,” and even points out that the film is doing very well overseas.

UPDATE: 6/6/10

As predicted, Shrek Forever After has nabbed the top spot again with an estimated weekend take of $26 million.

Newcomer Get Him to the Greek, starring Jonah Hill and Russell Brand, has separated itself for second place (with an estimated $17.5 million) from the Ashton Kutcher-Katherine Heigl vehicle, Killers, which is tracking to make $16 million.

  Prince of Persia won the fourth slot with an estimated $14 million, followed by Sex and the City 2 ($12 million).

Marmaduke ended up being a dog with just an estimated $11.5 million.

Shrek Forever After is living up to its title.

Early projections have the fourth film in the blockbuster franchise holding on to the #1 spot at the box office, ahead of a slew of disappointing debuts.

Shrek is estimated to earn about $25 million for the weekend, giving Mike Myers and Cameron Diaz a third straight win.

At #2 will likely be either Get Him to the Greek or Killers, both opening in the neighborhood of $16 million, although holdover Prince of Persia is currently just behind with a projected $15 million.

The news gets worse after that for new films.

The Owen Wilson-voiced Marmaduke is estimated to finish with $11 million, even behind the underwhelming Sex and the City 2. Meanwhile, horror flick Splice is tracking toward $7 million and eighth place.

All current numbers are estimates. Gossip Cop will update box office figures later in the weekend.

“Beef up my role or else!” is what News of the World claims Kristin Davis has threatened.

According to the tab, Davis is none too happy that her character’s role in Sex and the City 2 was “severely cut down.”

“Now she is said to be demanding a bigger slice of the plotline before committing to a new production,” reports the paper.

Of course, with the poor reception for the current film, this may not even be an issue.

The paper also alleges Davis is “peeved” that co-star Sarah Jessica Parker embarrassingly exposed that she had stomach issues while they filmed in Morocco.

Gossip Cop looked into this, and guess what?

This, too, is a load of… bunk.

And a rep for Davis echoed, “This is absurd.”

Americans like Sex but are happier when it’s ogre.

Shrek Forever After ($43.3 million) came back to beat Sex and the City 2 ($32.1 million) for the Friday-through-Sunday period this holiday weekend, taking the #1 spot at the box office after Sex had raced to a huge midnight Thursday/Friday take.

Prince of Persia placed third with around $30 million.

Unfavorably reviewed, Sex fell on Saturday and again on Sunday, according to estimates. Shrek surged, due to kid-friendly matinees, higher 3D ticket prices, and screenings in nearly a thousand more theaters.

Gossip Cop will continue to update throughout the holiday weekend.

Sex and the City 2 will have a Memorial Day Weekend to remember, according to early estimates.

The latest film continuation of the hit Sarah Jessica Parker HBO series survived dismal reviews to pull in a whopping $27.2 million between Thursday and Friday, setting up a projected long weekend take of $53 million and the top spot at the box office.

SATC 2 is on pace to earn $67 million for its first five days of release.

In second place (as of now) is Shrek 4, with 3D ticket prices pushing the animated powerhouse to an estimated $50 million for the 4-day weekend.

The holiday’s other big release, video game adaptation Prince of Persia, starring Jake Gyllenhaal, is projected to make $42 million for the #3 slot.

Holdovers Iron Man 2 ($18.5 million) and Robin Hood ($12.5 million) round out the current Top 5.

Amid a summer avalanche of comic book crusaders and action-adventure blockbusters comes today’s wide release of mega chick flick Sex and the City 2.

Sarah Jessica Parker, Kim Cattrall, Cynthia Nixon and Kristin Davis are back — and everywhere, promoting the highly anticipated sequel on both sides of the Atlantic. This morning the gang will appear on “The View.”

The first film was an even bigger hit than expected, taking in more than $400 million worldwide.

Far be it from Gossip Cop to have doubts about a story that starts with News of the World.

Its track record is sterling.

After all, it’s the outlet that told us a “Friends” reunion movie was in the works (wrong), Vanessa Hudgens and Zac Efron were engaged (wrong again), Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie had split (keep trying), and Madonna fills her radiators with Kabbalah water (yikes, oh-for-four).

On second thought… maybe we should have significant doubts about News of the World‘s “reporting.”

The paper’s newest adventure in sloppy speculation claims Sarah Jessica Parker‘s friends “are worried about her health” and how “frighteningly gaunt” she’s become.

A “pal” tells News the “extreme” weight loss comes down to “complete and utter stress” over the release of Sex and the City 2. Promoting the sequel is “getting to its main star” and, says one “colleague,” it’s “affecting her ability to eat.”

What’s more, Parker allegedly spends “an hour EVERY day doing pilates.”

Exercising daily? That’s just crazy!

In any case, claims that Parker’s friends are concerned about her health are absurd. A source close to the actress called the story “ridiculous” and assures Gossip Cop Parker is healthy and happy.

Still no word on what she does with Kabbalah water, though.

The seventeen songs include original music from Jennifer Hudson (a cast member in the first film) and Leona Lewis. Meanwhile, artists including Alicia Keys and Liza Minnelli will provide covers.

The movie’s four stars — Sarah Jessica Parker, Kim Cattrall, Kristin Davis, and Cynthia Nixon — also lend their voices, performing “I Am Woman.”

It’s getting to the point where it would be less time-consuming if we just reported what HollywoodLife gets right, but who wants to look at an empty blog?

In today’s installment, we look at a piece titled, “EXCLUSIVE! Epicly Awkward Encounter Between Exes Jason Lewis & Rosario Dawson!”

The fact-challenged site begins, “Ouch! Exes Jason Lewis and Rosario Dawson had a near run-in of completely epic proportions” when they were at the Independent Spirit Awards.

According to HollywoodLife, “Jason couldn’t leave [an area of the event] fast enough when she arrived with her boyfriend. Jason first tried avoiding her by shifting eye contact, then he literally cut an interviewer off and fled.”

That’s funny, because we were just talking to Lewis, and the “Sex and the City” hunk told us, “That didn’t happen at all.”

In fact, it was practically the opposite. Lewis told Gossip Cop, “We stopped, gave each other a hug and kiss, and spoke” before moving on.

The only thing of “epic proportions” is how wrong HollywoodLife was once again.

SPOILER:   WARNING, WARNING, WARNING

While Sarah Jessica Parker was recently promoting “Did You Hear About the Morgans?” with MTV, the topic moved to the highly anticipated “Sex and the City 2.” At one point, it was noted that John Corbett was in Morocco around the same time the women were shooting the film there. (We haven’t confirmed yet whether he was in Morocco.)

The alleged sighting, of course, has prompted speculation as to whether Corbett’s character – Carrie Bradshaw’s former flame Aidan Shaw – is in the film.

When asked during the MTV interview, Parker said she “can’t confirm nor deny” that he’s in the sequel, and “cryptically” added, “It might have just been coincidental that he was traveling.”

As you may recall, back in late September Gossip Cop happened upon a script and debunked a number of rumors about the upcoming film, and also exclusively broke the news that Miley Cyrus had a cameo. For full disclosure, there were several other plot points that Gossip Cop was privy to but didn’t publish because we intended to just separate the fact from fiction.

So now that there’s talk about whether or not Aidan is in the film…

SPOILER ALERT…

OK, for those of you who are still with us: Yes, Aidan is slated to be in the film and he and Carrie have an indiscretion. That’s all we’re going to say, except that their transgression leads to a BIG move on the part of Mr. Big.

The New York Post has once again implied that there’s friction between the “Sex and the City” women, who are filming the sequel in Morocco for a few weeks.

According to a piece in the paper, “Kristin Davis and Kim Cattrall are at the Amanjena Hotel, [Sarah Jessica Parker is] at the newly redone Mamounia… Cynthia Nixon’s at the Es Saadi. Their time spent together is strictly in front of the cameras. No socializing off camera.”

The story titled, “‘City’ girls separate,” goes on to say, “Even when Kristin and Kim booked dinner reservations at their same hotel… it was different tables.”

Gossip Cop, who has impeccable “Sex and the City 2” sources and was the first to confirm that Miley Cyrus was in the film, has been assured that though the women are working up to 19 hours a day — from the morning through late into the night — they are “having a great time together.”

Actually, because of the long hours filming, the women tend to order in room service. But on those occasions when they have free time, they try to spend it with their family and friends, who are in town to see them, which is why they wouldn’t eat with a cast mate. No other reason. Nothing juicy. Sorry.

A rep for Cattrall, who reiterated that everyone is getting along, tells Gossip Cop that the New York Post story is “absolutely ridiculous.”
