He takes over the anchor duties on June 6.

In a move that’s been expected for some time, Couric announced today that she’ll be departing after five years in the anchor seat.

Katie Couric will officially announce that she’s leaving “CBS Evening News” this week, according to multiple reports.

It’s expected that she’ll make her next move – possibly to a syndicated talk show – shortly thereafter. During an April 13 appearance on the “Today” show, Couric said that her future was still up in the air.

Couric leaves for London tomorrow to anchor the network’s coverage of the royal wedding.
