The Grey Leads Pack at Box Office

BOX OFFICE

The Grey, the survival thriller starring Liam Neeson and a pack of wolves, is expected to win the weekend box office with approximately $18 million.

That total would put it ahead of One For The Money (starring Katherine Heigl) and last week’s champ, Underworld: Awakening, both of which are tracking toward $12 million in receipts.

Another holdover, Red Tails, is projected to take fourth place with $9 million.

In Touch claims in this week’s issue that as Britney Spears’ conservatorship is reportedly drawing to a close, “She’s fired the security team she blames for many of her recent problems.”

Referring to the sexual harassment suit filed by Spears’ former bodyguard Fernando Flores, which the singer is fighting, a so-called “insider” tells In Touch, “Britney felt the old guys knew too much about her baggage from the past… She wants to create a new, confident, independent Britney – and doesn’t want anyone around who remembers what she was like before.” Did she really fire her security staff?

As expected, Clash of the Titans put up some titanic box office numbers.

The 3D sandals-and-swords extravaganza hauled in $64.1 million (including Thursday’s preview screenings), giving it the top spot on this weekend’s chart.

It’s the best Easter Weekend opening ever.
