Ronnie Ortiz is going to avoid jail time, stemming from a September 2009 fight outside a nightclub in Seaside Heights, New Jersey, where he knocked Stephen Izzo unconscious. Appearing before a New Jersey Superior Court judge, the “Jersey Shore” star was today admitted into a pretrial intervention program for which he neither had to admit or deny guilty, and could result in the charges against him being dropped if he steers clear of trouble for a designated amount of time.

Ronnie Ortiz of “Jersey Shore” has been indicted on an assault charge stemming from his infamous punch on Season 1 of the hit show.

He’s been hit with one count of third-degree assault, which could carry up to five years in prison with a conviction.
