Madagascar 3: Europe’s Most Wanted won its second straight weekend, with a $35.5 million take at the box office, while sci-fi thriller Prometheus secured the number two spot with $20.2 million.

That’s bad news for this week’s two new releases.

The 1980s hair metal extravaganza Rock of Ages had its big premiere at Grauman’s Chinese Theatre in Hollywood on Friday.

Stars of the film — including Tom Cruise, Malin Akerman, Catherine Zeta-Jones and Julianne Hough — mingled with real-life rockers like Gene Simmons and Bret Michaels.
