New year, new marriage?

Reports are circulating on several sites, claiming Ricky Martin will marry his partner Carlos Gonzalez Abella in New York on January 28.

The rumor began in the Spanish-language newspaper El Nuevo Dia, which based its story on an unnamed “source.”

But Martin, who will return to Broadway in “Evita” later this year, will remain a bachelor for the foreseeable future.

A rep for the singer tells Gossip Cop, “It is a completely incorrect report.”

Martin “has no set plans to marry,” the spokesperson added.

Moments ago, California’s Proposition 8, which banned gay marriage, was ruled unconstitutional.

And now the stars are offering their thoughts.

Ellen DeGeneres tweeted, “This just in: Equality won!”

And Christina Applegate said, “I am crying with absolute joy! Thank you thank you thank you for letting equality win. All men are created equal! Period!!!”

Also tweeting their satisfaction with the ruling were Kim Kardashian, who wrote, “Prop 8 was struck down! This news is amazing!!!! Its about time! Congrats to everyone!” and Ricky Martin who exclaimed, “YEAHHHHH!!!!!#PROP8UNCONSTITUTIONAL MOVING FORWARD!!!!!!!!”

Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger noted, via Twitter, “This decision affirms the full legal protections and safeguards I believe everyone deserves.”

Even Paris Hilton shared, “What a huge historical day for equal rights in this country! They finally overturned Prop 8! There shouldn’t be a law on true love. : )”

A number of movie stars took home trophies at the 64th annual Tony Awards, hosted by Sean Hayes and held at Radio City Music Hall in New York.

The first Tony of the night went to Scarlett Johansson for Best Performance by a Featured Actress in a Play for her work in “A View from the Bridge.”

In her acceptance speech, Johansson said, “Being welcomed into this [Broadway] community has been a dream come true for me.” She added, “Ever since I was a little girl I wanted to be on Broadway, and here I am.” 

Other Hollywood heavyweights to nab Tonys were Oscar-winners Denzel Washington, who won Best Actor in a Play for his best performance in “Fences,” and Catherine Zeta-Jones, who took home the Best Actress in a Musical for “A Little Night Music.”

Among the other stars at the Tonys who were attending, nominated, or presenting, included Will Smith and Jada Pinkett Smith, Katie Holmes, Daniel Radcliffe, Michael Douglas, Liev Schreiber and Naomi Watts, Beyoncé and Jay-Z, Ryan Reynolds, Antonio Banderas and Melanie Griffith, Helen Mirren, Lea Michele, Matthew Morrison, Paula Abdul, Lucy Liu, Kelsey Grammer, Cate Blanchett, Christopher Walken, Angela Lansbury, and Ricky Martin.

Ricky Martin is going from the concert stage to theater stage for a Broadway revival of “Evita.”

The singer will play Che, the show’s narrator.

Performances begin Spring 2012.

This isn’t Martin’s first trip to the Great White Way. He played Marius in “Les Miserables” in the mid-1990s.

Ricky Martin has exited the closet, out and proud.

The performer announced his homosexuality on his website today, ending a post with the words, “I am proud to say that I am a fortunate homosexual man. I am very blessed to be who I am.”

A father of two, Martin says that the process of penning his memoirs triggered the decision to come forward, knowing that the right moment had arrived. “Writing this account of my life, I got very close to my truth,” he reveals. “And this is something worth celebrating.”

“To keep living as I did up until today would be to indirectly diminish the glow that my kids were born with,” adds Martin. “Enough is enough. This has to change. This was not supposed to happen 5 or 10 years ago, it is supposed to happen now. Today is my day, this is my time, and this is my moment.”

“These years in silence and reflection made me stronger and reminded me that acceptance has to come from within and that this kind of truth gives me the power to conquer emotions I didn’t even know existed.”

Gossip Cop is pleased Martin was able to go public at his own speed, at the moment he chose. We hope any other public figure who wishes to reveal his or her sexuality is similarly fortunate to do so when he or she wants — not when an invasive tabloid press decides to do it for them.

Yesterday, GossipCop.com exclusively broke the news that Jennifer Lopez and Marc Anthony hosted a private dinner on Monday night at their Long Island, New York home for Supreme Court Justice Sonia Sotomayor, the first Hispanic to sit on the high court.

Today, a rep confirmed to Gossip Cop that at the dinner for Sotomayor were 18 friends, family members, political figures, and even another celebrity. We’re told among those at the intimate dinner (and earlier cocktail party) were Lopez’s sister, Lynda, New York Congresswoman Nydia Velazquez, who chairs the Congressional Hispanic Caucus, and close friend Ricky Martin.

The cocktail party and dinner extended from the early evening until around midnight.

Both Lopez and Justice Sotomayor were brought up in the Bronx.

The rep told Gossip Cop exclusively, “Marc and Jennifer were honored to be able to host this dinner for [Sotomayor].”

As you all know, Marc Anthony surprised his wife for her 40^th with a party at the Hotel Edison Ballroom, where friends like Liza Minnelli, Leah Remini, Alicia Keys, and Ricky Martin came out to celebrate the birthday girl.

Gossip Cop’s cameras had the happy couple pose outside the party, where a marquee read, “An Evening for Lola,” which is Anthony’s nickname for his wife.

We also received a few exclusive snaps from inside. But one thing Gossip Cop was curious about was how is it possible – if the party was a surprise – that Jennifer first wore a white Roberto Cavalli gown and then had a black Cavalli dress to change into?

Simple: Anthony had arranged the party with Lopez’s assistant and stylist, among others, so they had a second (back-up) dress available, which Gossip Cop has also learned is how Lopez generally rolls.
