Robert Downey, Jr. and Jude Law‘s Sherlock Holmes sequel, Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows, is a little less than two months away from its release, and already there’s talk about a third installment.

Drew Pearce, who’s writing Downey’s Iron Man 3 film, has reportedly been tapped by Warner Bros. to begin work on the Holmes threequel, reports Deadline.

Gossip Cop has reached out to a Warner Bros. rep for confirmation, but has yet to hear back.

A Game of Shadows, which is set for a December 16 opening (see trailer below), also stars Noomi Rapace, Rachel McAdams, and Jared Harris as Holmes’ archenemy Moriarty.

“Rachel vs. Kate: It’s war!” blares a headline from In Touch, which goes on to claim that Kate Beckinsale hates her ex Michael Sheen‘s new girlfriend, Rachel McAdams.

Although Sheen and Beckinsale haven’t been together for eight years, and get along great co-parenting their 12-year-old daughter Lily, the mag says “she’s got her claws out when it comes to Michael’s new love, Rachel.”

According to a so-called “insider” for the tabloid, “Rachel and Kate make a point to avoid each other, and it seems like it’s Kate who’s the resistant one.”

The source notes that Sheen recently dropped Lily off at Beckinsale’s hotel, and McAdams was “steaming” because “she couldn’t even go upstairs or inside with him.”

“There are opportunities where Michael could bring Rachel along, but he doesn’t,” adds the supposed “insider.”

Well, that would be incredibly awkward… if it weren’t totally bogus.

But a rep for Beckinsale confirms to Gossip Cop, “There is no truth to it at all.”

Once again, In Touch remains hopelessly out of touch.

After UsMagazine.com titled a post “Rachel McAdams Flashes Engagement Ring?” – complete with a photo of Morning Glory star wearing a ring – a slew of outlets quickly regurgitated the speculation that she’s engaged to boyfriend Michael Sheen.

Zimbio, for instance, wrote that McAdams “was seen out and about in LA wearing what looked like a diamond engagement ring on her left hand. So either she wants us to think she’s getting hitched, or she actually is heading down the aisle with Sheen.”

Or maybe…

It’s just a plain, old ring.

“This isn’t true – they are not engaged,” a rep for Sheen assures Gossip Cop.

It’s the train vs. the brain.

But the railroad action flick Unstoppable, starring Denzel Washington and Chris Pine, stopped short of the animated feature Megamind, which won the top spot again at the box office.

Megamind took in a whopping $30 million, followed by Unstoppable, which banked just $23 million.

The Robert Downey, Jr./Zach Galifianakis road trip comedy Due Date came in third with $15.5 million.

Nabbing fourth place was Skyline with $11.7 million, and Morning Glory, starring Rachel McAdams and Harrison Ford, took the fifth spot with $9.7 million.

Rounding out the Ten Ten were For Colored Girls ($6.8 million), Red ($5 million), Paranormal Activity 2 ($3 million), Saw 3D ($2.9 million) and Jackass 3D ($2.3 million).

In a way, we’re flattered.

Gossip Cop has busted Perez Hilton over and over (and over) again for every imaginable offense against quality celebrity news reporting.

He’s a one-man wrecking crew, representing a near-perfect synthesis of inaccuracy, carelessness, lateness, boneheadedness, and delicious doofus spectacle.

We’ve repeatedly shone a light on his failings.

And he still saw fit to steal three Gossip Cop stories in three days.

We must be doing something right!

On Wednesday, Hilton wrote that Emma Watson is not up for the Lisbeth Salander role in The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo. He gives attribution to The Hindustan Times… which lifted Gossip Cop‘s bust from the previous day.

On Thursday, Hilton excitedly announced that Tom Sturridge had joined Kristen Stewart in On the Road. He pulls the story from OK! magazine… which reported Gossip Cop‘s exclusive from the previous day.

On Friday, Hilton shot down rumors of a real-life romance between co-stars Rachel McAdams and Owen Wilson. His source? Digital Spy… which attributed the answer to Gossip Cop‘s takedown from the previous day.

All three stories originated on Gossip Cop, all wound up (a day late) on Hilton’s site, and he credits us on none of them.

We know that the Internet sometimes works this way, with sources being mixed together as information goes from one outlet to the next. But it seems like Hilton, who decided to block Gossip Cop on Twitter, plugs his ears and pretends we don’t exist — even when he’s lifting our content.

While we appreciate Hilton’s occasional attempt to get things right, it’s a shame he has to steal to get the dish.

“CopyKate girl, Owen?” asks The Sun, referring to Rachel McAdams, who according to the tab, is a dead ringer for Owen Wilson‘s former flame, Kate Hudson.

Wilson and McAdams, who co-starred in “Wedding Crashers,” are currently shooting Woody Allen‘s Midnight in Paris in the City of Lights, and are reportedly hooking up.

The Sun quotes a so-called onlooker as saying, “After one scene at a flea market in St. Ouen outside Paris, Owen was playing with her hair and being very affectionate. Even for a pair of luvvies it was very flirtatious. The gossip on set is that they are an item off screen.”

But the gossip back on planet Earth is that they are not.

Although the paper ran a picture of the two looking like a couple, it’s actually a shot from the film.

Plus, a rep for Wilson tells Gossip Cop rumors of a romance are “false.”

There’s been a flurry of speculation about who will play the Black Cat in the highly anticipated “Spider-Man 4.” Names have included Rachel McAdams (debunked) and Julia Stiles among others.

The latest actress rumored to be up for the role? Anne Hathaway.

Hathaways’s name has been all over the Internet today as the leading lady producers want to don the latex. Not that there’s anything to back up the speculation, of course, just as there wasn’t with McAdams, Stiles, Romola Garai, or any other possible choices.

A representative for Hathaway told Gossip Cop his client hasn’t seen a script (because there isn’t one), and that it’s way too premature to read anything into casting reports.

Might Hathaway be the Black Cat? Or take another role? Sure. But most of these “Spider-Man” rumors will wind up cobwebbed and forgotten long before shooting actually begins.

“Rachel McAdams Swings Into Spider-Man 4,” declares Perez Hilton in the headline of one of his latest posts.

He then backtracks in the opening line that she’s “being considered for the role of the new villainess.” And in the following sentence, he writes affirmatively, “Rachel will be playing the Black Cat, a dangerous foe to Spider-man, while also being a love interest for Peter Parker.”

Forget about how he goes back and forth between how she’s “being considered” and how she “will be” in “Spider-Man 4.” Actually, it doesn’t even matter because Hilton, who’s so afraid of Gossip Cop that he blocked us on Twitter, is wrong on either account. She’s neither “being considered” nor “will be” the villainess in the film. She’s not doing “Spider-Man 4” at all. Her rep even told Gossip Cop his account is “completely false.”

As an aside, Perez wrote, McAdam’s character “falls in love with Peter Parker, and uncovers his true identity. Her father then dies, and Hardy becomes a threat to Peter Parker.” Huh? Who’s Hardy?

Oh, “Cop Blocker” Hilton was in such a hurry to cut and paste this inaccurate story that when he lifted it from the movie site IMDB, he neglected to include that the villainess’ name is reportedly Felicia Hardy.

What a tangled web Hilton has again weaved for himself.

Kudos to TMZ for identifying Jude Law’s real baby mama – actress/model Samantha Burke. But shame on the numerous other media outlets like The Hollywood Gossip which, in a rush to ‘deliver,’ all but planned a baby shower for make-up artist Kayleen McAdams, sister of Law’s “Sherlock Holmes” co-star Rachel McAdams.

According to The Hollywood Gossip, “Law and Kayleen McAdams hooked up last Christmas when he was working on the film.”

What’s really a mystery – one that even Law’s Dr. Watson character couldn’t figure out – is how the various blogs came to report that Rachel McAdams was “pissed” about Law impregnating Kayleen when she isn’t even the baby’s mother. (McAdams should be “pissed” at the media’s sloppy coverage.) Here’s the best part: Kayleen’s rep tells Gossip Cop that “she’s never even met Jude Law.”

Too early for Gossip Cop to feel morning sickness over bad ‘womb’ers.
