Spice Girls singer Melanie Brown has apparently revealed that the group plans to reunite for Queen Elizabeth’s Diamond Jubilee concert next summer.

Asked about rumors that they would get back together for the Summer Olympics in London, Brown reportedly told an Australian TV interviewer, “Ooh, I think the Queen’s Jubilee concert is the event I’d be looking at more closely for that to happen.”

The Sun claims she admitted backstage that she had let slip “top-secret” news.

A Spice Girls reunion – for the Jubilee, Olympics or otherwise – has NOT been confirmed.

The 1990s pop group – Brown, Victoria Beckham, Emma Bunton, Melanie Chisholm and Geri Halliwell – staged a hugely successful reunion tour in 2007-08.

The Diamond Jubilee, honoring the 60th anniversary of the Queen’s coronation, is scheduled to take place in June.

The body of a woman found dead on Queen Elizabeth’s Sandringham Estate have been identified as 17-year-old Alisa Dmitrijeva (photo below).

Dmitrijeva’s body was spotted in a wooded area on New Year’s Day, after the Queen and Prince Philip attended a nearby church service, his first public appearance since a Christmas health scare.

The young woman, who emigrated from Latvia, had gone missing on August 31 from her home in Cambridgeshire.

She was last seen getting into a green Lexus with two friends.

In a press statement, Dmitrijeva’s family said, “We are devastated by the news of Alisa’s death… We wish to grieve in private and don’t want to speak with anyone from the press at this time.”

Detective Chief Inspector Jes Fry, who is heading the investigation into the murder, said, “We are still trying to establish any activity which took place on or around the site during the time frame of the end of August to the end of September 2011,” adding they are looking to speak to people “who may have worked in that area or were involved in organizing or running any specific events that may have taken place.”

The police do not believe it was a natural death, and are still treating it as a murder case.

Police have launched a murder investigation after a woman’s body was discovered at the Sandringham country estate of Queen Elizabeth over New Year’s weekend.

A civilian spotted the remains in a wooded area on Sunday, after the Queen and Prince Philip attended a nearby church service, his first public appearance since a Christmas health scare.

The royals spend the holidays at Sandringham every year.

“We are at the very early stages of the investigation, and it could be a complex inquiry,” said Detective Chief Inspector Jes Fry, adding, “The body had been there for some time.”

Fry continued, “The circumstances suggest this is a murder case, and we are looking at missing persons reports and cold cases, both locally and nationwide.”

Authorities informed the royal family of the discovery on Monday.

They have yet to comment publicly.

Prince Philip was released from the hospital today after undergoing emergency heart surgery for a blocked artery on Friday.

The 90-year-old husband of Queen Elizabeth was sent home from Papworth Hospital in Cambridge, England, on Tuesday morning.

The Duke of Edinburgh had been celebrating the Christmas festivities with the royal family at their home in Sandringham when he fell ill.

Prince William and Prince Harry spent part of Christmas day visiting their grandfather in the hospital.

The royal happily waved to bystanders as he was driven back to Sandringham today.

Queen Elizabeth’s grandchildren paid a Christmas visit to their grandfather, Prince Philip, who’s recovering from heart surgery at Papworth Hospital in Cambridge.

On Friday, doctors treated the 90-year-old Duke of Edinburgh for a blocked coronary artery. The procedure involved the placement of a stent.

In addition to William and Harry, Prince Andrew’s daughters, Beatrice and Eugenie, as well as Princess Anne’s kids, Zara and Peter, also left Sandringham, the royal family’s retreat, to spend time at the hospital with the family’s patriarch.

Buckingham Palace says Prince Philip is in “good spirits.”

Prince Philip, the Duke of Edinburgh, underwent heart surgery on Friday.

The 90-year-old husband of Queen Elizabeth was taken to the cardiothoracic unit at Papworth Hospital in Cambridge, England for “precautionary tests,” according to a spokesperson.

Doctors there discovered the Prince had a blocked coronary artery, prompting the surgery.

“This was treated successfully by the minimally invasive procedure of coronary stenting,” the palace said in a statement.

“Prince Philip will remain in hospital under observation for a short period.”

Before falling ill, he had been with the rest of the royal family at Sandringham, their retreat for the Christmas holiday.

He was treated for a chest infection in April 2008.

Philip and Elizabeth celebrated 64 years of marriage in November.

Prince William‘s cousin Zara Phillips married rugby star Mike Tindall in Edinburgh today.

The royal wedding drew William and Duchess Kate, whose own nuptials brought the world to a halt in April, as well as Queen Elizabeth, Prince Philip, Prince Harry, Princess Anne, Princess Beatrice and other dignitaries.

Phillips and Tindall expected around 300 guests for the event, which was dramatically scaled down from Kate and William’s extravaganza.

The ceremony was held at Canongate Kirk, while the reception will be not far from the church at the Palace of Holyroodhouse.

Phillips wore a satin gown by Stewart Parvin, with Jimmy Choo shoes, a bouquet of cream-colored flowers and a silk tulle cathedral veil.

Kate Middleton and Queen Elizabeth visited the Royal Wedding exhibit at Buckingham Palace today, and the Queen took the opportunity to show her granddaughter-in-law she’s got a wicked sense of humor.

Approaching Middleton’s wedding gown, designed by Sarah Burton for Alexander McQueen, her royal highness cracked, “Horrid, isn’t it? Horrid and dreadful!”

The new exhibition dedicated to Prince William and Kate’s April nuptials also features the Duchess’ wedding jewelry (including the dazzling Cartier tiara Elizabeth loaned Kate for the big day), as well as their extravagant wedding cake.

As the two were touring the palace to view the rest of the exhibit, the Queen joked, “You’ve seen this already, so… you don’t really want to see it again, do you?”

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge (formerly Prince William and Kate Middleton) attended the Epsom Derby today, joining Prince Harry and other royals to cheer on Queen Elizabeth‘s horse Carlton House.

William and Catherine’s joint appearance gave the public (not just the Obamas) a chance to see the newlyweds in some pretty slick duds.

Kate wore a cream-colored jacket and skirt, along with an interesting hat (although not as interesting as Princess Beatrice‘s).

The Duke, meanwhile, didn’t look too shabby in a top hat and tails.

By the way, Carlton House finished third.

Tom Hanks, Kevin Spacey, Kristin Chenoweth, and Helena Bonham-Carter and Tim Burton were among Hollywood royalty at a banquet Queen Elizabeth hosted for President Obama at Buckingham Palace this evening.

The Queen noted at the beginning, “We have enjoyed … any number of what we call films, and you might call movies,” which she said have “enlarged and invigorated our common language, although I think you will agree we don’t always use it in quite the same way.”

The British monarch also recalled what a “pleasure” it was initially meeting the entire first family back in 2009.

And President Obama sent regards from daughters Malia and Sasha, who he said, ”adored you even before you let them ride in a carriage on the palace grounds.”

William and Kate, who earlier in the day greeted the Obamas, were not at the dinner.

President Obama and Michelle Obama met William and Catherine, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, today at Buckingham Palace.

The Obamas spent approximately 20 minutes chatting with the newlyweds, who have just returned from their honeymoon. The atmosphere was described as “relaxed.”

Queen Elizabeth and Prince Philip gave the Obamas a tour of the Palace upon their arrival, and the Scots Guards played the American national anthem.

The Queen will host the President and Mrs. Obama at a state banquet on Tuesday night.

The President and the First Lady will spend two nights at Buckingham Palace, staying in the six-room suite last used by William and Catherine on their wedding night.

The Obamas’ visit comes less than a month after the royals wed in front of a worldwide audience.

Kate Middleton had her first wedding rehearsal at Westminster Abbey in London today, exactly two weeks before she and Prince William will marry in front of a worldwide audience.

Best man Prince Harry and Middleton’s sister/maid of honor, Pippa, also participated in the rehearsal, a royal spokesman confirms.

Prince William, however, was not part of this morning’s event. The groom was fulfilling Royal Air Force duties in Wales.

The prince has invited all 27 members of his search and rescue unit to the April 29 nuptials.

There was no sign of Queen Elizabeth practicing on her drum kit.

“Royal Fergie Devastated After Getting Snubbed From Royal Wedding,” reads a headline on Perez Hilton, who notes – as Gossip Cop previously reported – that Sarah Ferguson was not invited to the April 29 wedding of Prince William and Kate Middleton.

According to Perez, a friend of Fergie’s says, “Sarah is devastated that she hasn’t been invited. Hasn’t she been punished enough by the family? Sarah is down on her luck and this is the same as kicking a person while they are down.”

The blogger’s so-called “insider” adds, ”Sarah was hoping that the wedding would provide her with the opportunity to spend quality time with the family,” and instead will be watching the nuptials from abroad, “Trying to start her life knowing that kissing a prince doesn’t guarantee a happy ending.”

First, that last line about “kissing a prince doesn’t guarantee a happy ending” is a totally made up quotation. No one in real life speaks that way.

But that sentence isn’t the only fabrication – the whole story is a fake.

Ferguson is no longer part of the royal family, and never expected to be invited.

As Queen Elizabeth‘s former press secretary Dickie Arbiter simply said, ”Who invites an ex-wife to a family occasion?”

No one.

Seriously, Fergie being “devastated” that she wasn’t invited to her ex-husband’s nephew’s wedding is like Perez being “devastated” he didn’t win a Pulitzer Prize. Both are huge stretches.

Kate Middleton and Prince William have attended their first public event together since announcing their engagement.

The couple appeared at a cancer charity event in Norfolk, England on Saturday. Middleton wore a geometric black and white dress with a blazer.

Earlier this week, they joined Queen Elizabeth for a private, pre-Christmas lunch.

Middleton and William’s official engagement portraits were unveiled one week ago. They will wed at Westminster Abbey on April 29, 2011.

The royal family has just confirmed that Prince William and Kate Middleton will wed on April 29, 2011, at Westminster Abbey.

The historic Westminister is where the funeral for Princess Diana was held and where Queen Elizabeth and Prince Philip wed.

The London church is also where British kings and queens are crowned.

Middleton and Prince William chose April 29th because it’s the feast day of St. Catherine of Siena, whose name Middleton shares.

Prince William and Middleton announced their engagement last week.

Anne Hathaway hosted “Saturday Night Live” this week, and the former Princess Diaries star took a shot at playing real-life royal-to-be Kate Middleton.

In the sketch, Middleton and Prince William (played by Andy Samberg) go to meet Queen Elizabeth and Prince Philip after announcing their engagement.

But as portrayed by Fred Armisen and Bill Hader, the polite monarchs turn into terrifying street toughs as soon as William leaves the room.

We wonder if Middleton’s actual meeting with the grandparents was this dramatic.

Prince William and Kate Middleton are officially engaged.

Prince Charles‘ Clarence House office said in a statement that it was “delighted to announce the engagement of Prince William to Miss Catherine Middleton.”

The couple got engaged last month while vacationing in Kenya.

Their wedding will take place in London next spring or summer, and is expected to be as big as that of the groom’s parents, Prince Charles and the late Princess Diana.

According to the official statement, ”Prince William has informed the queen and other close members of his family… Prince William has also sought the permission of Miss Middleton’s father.”

“Following the marriage,” the statement noted, “the couple will live in north Wales, where Prince William will continue to serve with the Royal Air Force.”

Prince William and Kate Middleton met while they were both at University of St. Andrews in Scotland.

Gaga ditched a huge ruffled plastic collar when greeting her Majesty after her performance, which had the “Speechless” singer — and her piano — suspended 12-feet in the air, her long dress hanging all the way down to the stage. 

Adhering to protocol, the usually outrageous performer politely curtsied when greeting Her Royal Highness.

In the Strange But True files comes this bit of news: Lady Gaga is slated to perform for Queen Elizabeth II at the annual Royal Variety Performance on December 7 at Blackpool’s Opera House Theatre.

No word yet whether Lady Gaga, who’s known as much for outrageous outfits as she is for her vocals, will tone down her dress for her Royal Highness.
