Prince Perfume Deal Smells Bad, Could Cost Him $4 Million
September 3rd, 2011
Prince should pay a perfume company almost $4 million for failing to market their scent, a New York court has determined.
Revelations Perfume and Cosmetics, Inc. licensed the musician’s name, likeness and “3121″ album title for a fragrance back in 2006 with the understanding that Prince would help to promote it.
In 2008 the company sued Prince and Universal Music, claiming his refusal to commit to interviews and appearances marketing the 3121 scent had led to poor sales and represented a violation of the agreement’s terms.
