Bill Clinton was a guest on “Late Show with David Letterman,” and while discussing the disparity between the wealthy and less fortunate, the talk show host said he would go after the rich and have them do their “fair share” to help.

Letterman explained, “I’m always looking to blame somebody,” adding, “Isn’t that human nature?”

The former president took issue, and said, “One of the best things about Americans is that we don’t really resent other people’s success,” prompting Letterman to shoot back, “What about Leno?”

Whoa!

While the reviews for George W. Bush‘s new memoir, “Decision Points,” have been mixed, the former president did get a rave review from another past prez, Bill Clinton.

In a statement today, Clinton called Bush’s book “well-written, and interesting from start to finish,” and the diehard Democrat even recommended the Republican’s memoir to “people of all political stripes.”

Clinton added, “Bush also gives readers a good sense of what it’s like to be president, to take the responsibilities of the office seriously, do what you think is right, and let history be the judge.”

“The book may not change the minds of those who disagree with decisions President Bush made,” he noted, “but it will help you to understand better the forces that molded him, and the convictions that drove him to make those decisions.”

Perez Hilton is so afraid of Gossip Cop – and our fact-checking ways – that he’s blocked us on Twitter. 

And that’s among his many mistakes, because if Perez weren’t such a Cop Blocker, he wouldn’t have made a fool of himself today with a piece he titled, “Obama And Clinton Call Tiger At Rehab!!”

Picking up on a wrong report from four days ago - which Gossip Cop already busted - Perez writes, “While Tiger Woods sat in rehab for sex addiction, both President Barack Obama and former President Bill Clinton called the douchebag golfer to cheer him up!!”

After regurgitating an erroneous Golf Digest article, where this mistaken story started, Perez then blurts, “Let’s get our priorities straight, people!! Tiger does NOT need any more coddling!”

Fair enough, but President Obama did NOT — repeat, did NOT – reach out to Tiger Woods. A White House spokesperson yesterday confirmed that the Commander-in-Chief did NOT comfort or contact Woods.

And when it comes to priorities, if someone’s going to do an entertainment blog, he or she should check to see if their stories are accurate before posting them.

Elton John was scheduled to perform last night with Billy Joel at the Oracle Arena in Oakland, California, but the concert was scrapped a few days ago because John was still battling an E. coli bacterial infection and the flu. 

Today, Gossip Cop checked in with both his rep and Joel’s spokeswoman, who told us that John is “feeling much better” and has “recovered.” 

So the question is, though he had to cancel a number of performances because of illness, including last night’s, will John still be at his Elton John AIDS Foundation’s “An Enduring Vision” event tomorrow night?

Good news. The musician’s rep confirmed to Gossip Cop that John will definitely be at the fundraiser in New York, which will be hosted by Anderson Cooper, and where President Bill Clinton and Sharon Stone are set to be honored.

On the cover of the British magazine Grazia is a story that was picked up by the Daily Mail and numerous other newspapers and blogs around the world, claiming that Brad Pitt and his ex-wife Jennifer Aniston secretly met in a New York hotel room.

The reports have Aniston coming over to Pitt’s hotel room at the Essex House, two weeks ago Friday – a day after Pitt met with former President Clinton – to discuss his alleged relationship problems with Angelina Jolie. According to Grazia, Aniston came over to his hotel room, where “Brad was unloading his emotional baggage on Jen.” The so-called source of this ridiculous story says, “She was quick to tell him she wanted no part in his break-up with Angelina.”

That rag and others further report that while Angelina would like to work things out, Brad has decided their relationship is “all but over.”

The only thing that needs to be over are these completely fabricated stories.

One, Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie are currently not on the verge of splitting up, as evidenced by reality – and photos of them happily together with their family around the world.

And two, Jennifer Aniston never met up with her ex-husband in a New York hotel room, as reported by a tabloid that’s thousands of miles away in England.

But if you are still somehow not convinced, Aniston’s rep tells Gossip Cop, the hotel meeting story “is BS.” We couldn’t have said it better.
