You Biting? “Vampire Diaries” Hunts “Twilight” Crowd

Just as America’s vampire fever turns epidemic, causing some celebrities to sprout fangs, the CW leaps into the mix with tonight’s premiere of “The Vampire Diaries.” Gossip Cop can’t help but notice that the super-hyped series, based on L.J. Smith’s books, revolves around a small town, a love triangle, humans and supernaturals coupling, and . . . hmm, sounds familiar.

America’s Pulse: Jon & Kate Plus Hate

For the most part, Gossip Cop made it through the summer without discussing America’s tabloid royalty, Jon and Kate Gosselin. The experience often felt like being trapped in a restaurant while the awful bickering couple at the next table shouted . . . for months. As their eight children and most of the country watched, the Gosselins hurled insults and accusations in an unending series of TV appearances and magazine covers that promoted their TLC program and, eventually, their post-marriage and post-TLC agendas.
