It’s been a chaotic time for Charlie Sheen and Brooke Mueller, whose marriage has been rocked since a Christmas Day domestic dispute and Sheen’s arrest. The couple is trying to keep lines of communication open and reports today claim their young children “are just fine,” but speculation still swirls about a possible Sheen-Mueller divorce.

This June “The Twilight Saga: Eclipse” arrives in theaters, but Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart are scheduled for a very big 2010 even beyond their blockbuster vampire series. Two of Young Hollywood’s brightest stars have numerous movies slated to be released — or produced — in the coming months, and Gossip Cop was curious to know what non-”Twilight” film Pattinson and Stewart fans were most excited to see.

Gossip Cop might have launched at just the right time, because 2009 was a year of unbelievable pop culture shocks. From stunning deaths to stunning scandals, the decade ended with a series of jolts no one saw coming.

As the Tiger Woods scandal continues to spiral, controversy surrounds the woman whose rumored affair with the golfer triggered a firestorm. Rachel Uchitel, the New York party promoter who cancelled a Thursday press conference amid speculation she was paid to stay silent, is facing new claims she is to receive more than a million dollars not to divulge information she has about Woods.

RadarOnline.com is reporting in a “world exclusive” that Woods has reached an agreement with Uchitel that will pay her “more than one million but less than three million,” according to “sources close to the situation.” The site claims the arrangement forbids Uchitel from discussing the alleged affair publicly, and will guarantee that she will not release hundreds of text messages and e-mails she and Woods supposedly exchanged over several months.

The so-called “deal” contradicts an earlier TMZ report that Uchitel “did not make any financial deal” and that she’d decided to stay silent because she was “scared for her safety.”

Gossip Cop has known Uchitel for a couple of years and asked her again today to discuss the rumors of a deal with Woods. Far from quashing the money-for-silence rumors, she told Gossip Cop, ”Obviously I’m not commenting.” She added, “The media can fight it out. All [they] do is talk [expletive] about me. Its [sic] unbelievable.”

There are still two narratives being offered for Uchitel’s silence – one in which she’s afraid, and one in which she’s been paid. New details are emerging every day. Gossip Cop will stay on top of them.

Whether you watched it live or caught clips on the news this morning, Adam Lambert‘s provocative performance at last night’s American Music Awards is the talk of the country.

The singer’s sexually-charged performance of his debut album For Your Entertainment‘s title track widened eyes and set tongues wagging with its frequent hip thrusts, leash-led dancers, simulated sex acts, and one not-so-simulated kiss between Lambert and a male keyboard player. Lambert also flashed his middle finger in a gesture edited out by ABC for the West Coast.

As we reported earlier, a record-setting night turned into a record-setting day for “The Twilight Saga: New Moon.”

Estimates place the film’s November 20 take at a staggering $72.7 million, beating the incredible first days by “The Dark Knight” and “Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen.”

Gossip Cop will follow the box office as more records (may) fall this weekend.

Just as America’s vampire fever turns epidemic, causing some celebrities to sprout fangs, the CW leaps into the mix with tonight’s premiere of “The Vampire Diaries.”

Gossip Cop can’t help but notice that the super-hyped series, based on L.J. Smith’s books, revolves around a small town, a love triangle, humans and supernaturals coupling, and . . . hmm, sounds familiar.

While capturing fans’ imagination the same way “Twilight” has will be nearly impossible, “The Vampire Diaries” launches with a LOT of anticipation. We wondered what you think? Will you be watching tonight, excited for a weekly vamp fix until “New Moon” arrives in November? Or does your heart belong exclusively to Bella, Edward, Jacob, and the rest?

For the most part, Gossip Cop made it through the summer without discussing America’s tabloid royalty, Jon and Kate Gosselin. The experience often felt like being trapped in a restaurant while the awful bickering couple at the next table shouted . . . for months. As their eight children and most of the country watched, the Gosselins hurled insults and accusations in an unending series of TV appearances and magazine covers that promoted their TLC program and, eventually, their post-marriage and post-TLC agendas.

And they just . . . won’t . . . go . . . away.

This morning Jon went on Good Morning America to tell everyone that he “despises” Kate and to say that she stole his wedding band.
