Oprah said her 25th and final season would be full of surprises, and she didn’t disappoint with her first show, which featured guests John Travolta, Don Johnson, and Paul Simon.

The talk show queen, who gave away free cars in 2004, today outdid herself when she announced she was taking her entire studio audience – all 300 members – on a free trip to Australia in December. Seriously.

Paul McCartney will be feted at the White House next month when he receives the Gershwin Prize for Popular Song, the nation’s highest honor for pop music. An all-star roster of celebrities, including the Jonas Brothers, Jerry Seinfeld, Faith Hill, Stevie Wonder, Elvis Costello and Dave Grohl of the Foo Fighters, will all appear at the June 2 concert.
