“Beyonce FAKED IT… She used a PROSTHETIC Baby Bump at The MTV Awards!!” blares another “World Exclusive” from MediaTakeOut, which is consistently wrong when it comes to reporting about the singer.

According to a “top industry insider,” “The word BEHIND THE SCENES at the VMAs was that Beyonce was wearing a PROSTHETIC BELLY.”

The supposed source claims that while Beyonce is in fact expecting, “She is NOT in her second trimester – she’s only a little more than 8 WEEKS pregnant,” adding, “She wanted the announcement to be dramatic, so she made sure she had a baby bump.”

Actually, the really shocking thing here is that Beyonce is only just showing now, considering that MediaFakeOut wrongly reported she was pregnant in March 2010, and then AGAIN in April.

After so many unsuccessful attempts to impregnate Beyonce, the site now expects us to believe it’s intimately familiar with exactly how far along she is?

Not a chance.

A source close to Beyonce assures us she was absolutely NOT wearing a “prosthetic belly” at the VMAs.

The only thing FAKE here is MTO’s “insider.”

Beyonce has had quite an exciting week!

After announcing she was pregnant with her first child at the MTV Video Music Awards last Sunday, the “1 + 1″ singer and Jay-Z jetted off to Venice, Italy to celebrate her 30th birthday.

The superstar couple dined at a romantic restaurant in the City of Water on Sunday, her actual birthday, and continued the celebration today by sunning on the luxurious yacht “Odessa.”

Gwyneth Paltrow, who’s in town to promote her new movie Contagion at the Venice Film Festival, and singer Erykah Badu dropped by the ship to help Beyonce ring in the big 3-0.

Adam Levine isn’t backing down from his critical comments about MTV.

Before the Video Music Awards, the Maroon 5 singer tweeted his disgust with the network for abandoning the music on which it was built.

“The VMA’s. one day a year when MTV pretends to still care about music,” he wrote. “I’m drawing a line in the sand. f**k you VMA’s.”

Now, Levine has expanded on his slam with comments to E!

“It’s public knowledge that [MTV's] not a music channel,” he says, explaining that he “worshipped” the VMAs when he was younger.

He adds, “There were a lot of memorable moments and not only that, it was music television. It was a celebratory day that represented what the channel stood for.”

Now, says Levine, “It’s sad. It’s like seeing Tower Records in L.A. as a clothing store. I was just fed up with the whole thing. It is what it is. It was a very off-the-cuff statement that I definitely stood by.”

Levine, who also stars on “The Voice,” hasn’t been afraid to speak his mind of late.

He recently blasted rival “American Idol” for its treatment of gay performers.

Chris Brown caught Lindsay Lohan‘s eye during the MTV Video Music Awards, but don’t expect the two to become an item.

After watching his epic performance on Sunday, Lohan tweeted, “@ChrisBrown killed it,” which Brown then retweeted.

Later, Lohan asked, “@chrisbrown wanna meet?”

Instantly, blogs took this to mean that something was about to heat up between the two stars.

But according to Lohan, the buzz suggesting that she’s “propositioning” Brown is an even bigger leap than the ones Brown took on the VMA stage.

“Hahaha. That’s so random!” she exclusively tells Gossip Cop.

We know a Lindsay-Chris hookup (“Brohan”?) would be big tabloid fodder, but it looks like it’s just imaginary.

Beyonce‘s baby news during the MTV Video Music Awards set a new Twitter record.

According to the company, traffic spiked at 8,868 tweets per second at 10:35 p.m. ET on Sunday, making Bey’s on-stage belly rub bigger than the final seconds of the Women’s World Cup (7,196 TPS), Osama bin Laden‘s death (5,106 TPS), the William and Kate nuptials (3,966 TPS) and other peak moments of the Twitter age.

The VMAs have made social media a major part of the festivities over the last few years, with the promotion of Twitter throughout the broadcast, the show’s history of “buzz” moments and the demographics of MTV’s core audience making for the perfect tweet storm.

But MTV’s success wasn’t just online.

12.4 million people tuned into the telecast, giving MTV the biggest viewing audience in network history.

MTV is planning a tribute to Britney Spears as part of the Video Music Awards, and “talking about acknowledging” the late Amy Winehouse.

“Britney will be at the show and we’ll be paying tribute to her,” the event’s executive producer Amy Doyle told Billboard.com.

“She was having an incredible year and she is so beloved by the MTV audience that we started to think what could we do that would be a different experience,” she added.

Winehouse, whose death last month shook the industry, will also be a part of this year’s program.

“We had a great history with Amy. She was very near and dear to us,” says Doyle.

The network recently announced its first slate of presenters (including Selena Gomez, Seth Rogen and Kim Kardashian) and performers (including Adele, Chris Brown and Bruno Mars) for the August 28th telecast.

With a characteristically unusual costume at Sunday’s MTV Video Music Awards, will.i.am has sparked some controversy.

The Black Eyed Peas singer was clad head to toe in black during a pre-show performance with Nicki Minaj, but it was his face — also painted black to complete the look — that drew criticism.

According to will.i.am, it’s much ado about nothing.

“Just because I where (sic) all black including head mask as expression and emphasize my outfit, it shouldn’t be looked at as racial,” tweeted the performer.

“Let go of the past,” he continued. “There are far more important things 2 bark about. (Jobs, health, education) not a black man wearing all black everything.”

Responding to his detractors, will.i.am asked, “Are you guys serious? my outfit set ‘black people back 100 yrs’ choose your twits wisely. no education sets people back, no jobs, bad health.”

It’s hard to believe it was only one year ago that Katy Perry and Russell Brand began their whirlwind courtship.

The now-engaged couple met at last year’s MTV Video Music Awards, but weren’t quite able to relive that magical moment at last night’s show.

Perry attended solo… but she had Brand’s likeness nailed – literally.

The singer tweeted a picture of her fingernails (right), which sported decals of Brand in different poses.

“To the 1 year anniversary of our love @ the #VMA’S @rustyrockets,” she wrote. “You’re here w/us in spirit :)”

In reply, Brand, who was in New York shooting Arthur, tweeted “@katyperry I’m hosting my own awards (#RBMA’s) you win. See you wednesday (in LA).” Accompanying his tweet was a picture of him holding out a flower and an image of Perry taped to his head.

If that ain’t love, we don’t know what is.

Most artists are ecstatic just to attend the MTV Video Music Awards, but according to PopEater, Taylor Swift was anything but that.

In fact, the site declares Swift “was terrified to perform” her new song, “Innocent,” which was directed towards Kanye West and the incident last year at the awards show.

Wait, the chart-topper and seasoned performer was “terrified”?

A so-called Swift “friend” tells PopEater, “Taylor was a nervous wreck before she hit the stage last night. She knew Kanye was in the building and was terrified and praying that he wouldn’t pull another stunt.”

Swift supposedly “had no idea how he would react to the song she wrote and performed about him,” the source continues.

Well, Gossip Cop can tell you precisely how those close to Swift reacted to PopEater’s latest tale.

“Not true,” a Swift confidante repeatedly said about each of the site’s allegations.

Swift, who actually met with West backstage, was confident in herself and the song – two reasons she chose to perform it.

Both Swift and West are trying to turn over a new leaf. It’s a shame sites like PopEater are trying to “wreck” it with inaccurate reporting.

Lindsay Lohan made a surprise appearance during the opening of tonight’s MTV Video Music Awards.

Host Chelsea Handler encountered Lohan backstage while racing to avoid ass slaps from well wishers.

“Have you been drinking?” Lohan asked Handler, poking fun at her own recent trips to jail and rehab. “Do you think anyone wants to work with a drunk?” prodded the actress. “Take it from me — they don’t.”

Justin Bieber fans were treated to a free, unannounced concert yesterday.

In advance of his performance tomorrow night at the MTV Video Music Awards, the teen singing sensation rehearsed outdoors for close to two hours near the Staples Center in L.A.

Bieber and his young back-up dancers went over every step of his performance, including his (scheduled) arrival in a red 1957 Chevy.

While rehearsing his routine for the song, “Baby,” Bieber moonwalked and practiced a drum solo, though it didn’t go so smoothly. He moaned, ”What’s wrong with my drums? Like, I don’t hear anything and it should be loud… This has to be, like, an epic moment. It’s ending the song.”

He also later griped, “The vocals are too loud in my ear and I can’t hear the groove.”

Bieber, of course, was only trying to make sure everything was perfectly executed for his big performance tomorrow outside the Nokia Theatre, where the Video Music Awards will be handed out.

Last week, rumors began to spread online claiming that Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart would attend this Sunday’s MTV Video Music Awards.

The duo appeared with Eclipse buddy Taylor Lautner back in June at the network’s Movie Awards.

But there will be no sequel this weekend.

Pattinson insiders inform Gossip Cop that he will not be at the VMAs, while a source close to Stewart tells us the actress “is shooting” and also unable to attend.

There should still be no shortage of drama, however, especially with the much-hyped return of Kanye West.

MTV has announced the nominees for the 2010 Video Music Awards, and Lady Gaga leads the pack with a record 13 nominations.

She’s also the first female artist ever to be nominated for two different videos in the “Video of the Year” category. Both “Bad Romance” and “Telephone” made the cut.

Meanwhile, Eminem‘s comeback garnered 8 nominations, including “Best Male Video” and “Video of the Year” nods for “Not Afraid.”

The ceremony will be broadcast live from Nokia Theater in Los Angeles on Sunday, September 12 at 9:00pm.

Gossip Cop feels it’s like shooting fish in a barrel, but since we’re about presenting the most accurate celebrity news, we sometimes have to call out Perez Hilton more than once a day.

Today is one of those days.

Under the headline, “Kanye’s NOT Invited,” Perez writes that “Kanye West was not invited to participate in George Clooney’s telethon fundraiser for the earthquake victims in Haiti due to his bad reputation.”

Perez even quotes “one of the producers” explaining, “After what he said on the Katrina telethon and the way he behaved at the MTV Video Music Awards, everyone agrees it’s just best that he does not participate.”

He then says, “we can’t blame” the show’s producers for not inviting West.

But Gossip Cop can blame Perez for sloppy reporting.

The truth is MTV did invite West, but has yet to hear back whether he’ll participate or not.

The story originally appeared on another blog, but that site updated its post to reflect MTV’s assertion that West was asked to help with the fundraiser.

Perez either chose to ignore the facts or was too busy making video blogs about how he’s “desperate” for a date.

The supermarket tab writes underneath its headline that Timberlake and Rihanna are having “secret hookups.” (Apparently, so secret not even they know about it!)

While Us Weekly wrongly reported that Timberlake and Jessica Biel were over, Star at least kept Biel in the picture – to then incorrectly claim that he’s cheating on her.

According to the Star, Timberlake and Rihanna had a “night of passion” after the MTV Video Music Awards. (Not true.) The rag then has one of its “sources” say that the two singers have been “talking and texting on the phone nonstop since the VMAs,” and that part of the excitement from their clandestine meetings was that “They got off on keeping it on the down low.” The Star tends to use phony phrases like “secret hookups” and “on the down low” to explain why there aren’t any incriminating pictures for their made up stories.

On the subject of pictures, the Star claims, “Caught! Exclusive Photos” of Timberlake with Rihanna, but in reality, these are just shots of the two of them leaving a party. What does that prove?

The article goes on to say how the two flirt when in the recording studio, and that “RiRi doesn’t want to be seen as a boyfriend stealer.” No need to worry about that because, as Rihanna’s rep told Gossip Cop, “Basically, they are working together” on her new album, and “There is ZERO truth to the story!”

It’s been a chaotic few weeks for Kanye West since he laid a giant egg with his antics at the MTV Video Music Awards. But many sites have taken it as a cue to invent even more bizarre behavior for the embattled rapper.

On Saturday night, Common organized an all-star benefit concert at The Palladium in Hollywood for The Common Ground Foundation, featuring the likes of Queen Latifah, Ludacris, Mos Def . . . and Kanye West. Janet Charlton reports that Kanye arrived in the green room only minutes before he was due to perform, but still had time to allegedly cause trouble.

According to Charlton’s story, Kanye noticed someone eating chicken and “blurted petulantly, ‘Why wasn’t I offered chicken? It’s NOT FAIR – you want me to perform for free – everyone is eating – WHY AM I NOT EATING!” After he was told that he needed to have ordered the chicken, the item says Kanye then yelled, “‘Well, I’m ASKING NOW!!” as the other celebs watched in horror and girlfriend Amber Rose stepped back.

In a final insult, after a waiter rushed to get Kanye an order of chicken, the star “literally took ONE bite and dumped it before he grabbed the mic and went onstage,” claims Charlton.

Wow! What a crazy backstage story! That’s unbelievable – literally – according to a source who was in the green room. The insider tells Gossip Cop “there was nothing remotely like this.”

Look – Kanye tends to make a fool of himself as it is. He doesn’t need “help” from imaginative media.

You’d think a paper named The Sun would illuminate the truth more often.

The tab now claims Janet Jackson plans to wear black for a year to mourn the death of her brother, Michael Jackson. A “source” tells the paper that “as a mark of respect she has decided to only wear black clothes to express her grief, and she has had to go on a number of shopping trips to find suitable items to wear.” The custom will conclude on the anniversary of Michael’s death next June, when Janet’s “time of reflection will come to an end.” The Sun goes on to suggest that Jackson’s decision to perform in black earlier this month at MTV’s Video Music Awards was evidence of this “new wardrobe.”

Really? That’s strange. Because a little more than a week ago, Jackson was in white and beige at a Ralph Lauren event during Fashion Week in New York City. And just last night she wore a blue dress to amfAR’s Inaugural Milan Fashion Week event.

In fact, it’s difficult to find her in black at all recently when she’s not performing.

A source close to Janet told Gossip Cop that the Sun story was a big old yarn. Sure seems that way to us.

The British OK! story, “Madonna to Duet With Janet,” attracted a lot of attention, and a slew of other media outlets picked up on it.

“Madonna will perform a duet with Janet Jackson as a tribute to Michael Jackson,” began the report, adding, “The two singers are working on a tribute to Janet’s late brother after bonding over dinner after Sunday’s MTV Video Music Awards.” The mag even had a source who said, “Madonna was so impressed with Janet’s tribute to Michael that they started talking about how great it would be to honour him by doing something together.”

How about we honor Michael Jackson’s memory by no longer publishing phony stories about him? Madonna’s rep told Gossip Cop point blank: “They did not meet at or after [the] VMAs.”

Side note: “Scoop” Hilton, who “reported” the story as well, added, “Maybe they should give Janet’s brother Jermaine Jackson a call. We hear he needs killer acts for Vienna.”

Cute . . . except this somehow “celebrity expert” seems to have missed the hundreds of thousands of stories about how the tribute concert has been moved to London. Including the one on his own site.

UPDATE  2:40PM:  Kanye West has apologized to Taylor Swift. “The View” released a statement saying, “After the show he spoke personally to the country music superstar via telephone and has apologized to the 19-year-old singer. She has accepted Mr. West’s apology. The contents of the phone call are to remain private.”

11:50 AM:  Taylor Swift appeared on “The View” moments ago to discuss Sunday night’s controversy at the MTV Video Music Awards, where Kanye West hijacked her acceptance of the Best Female Video award to praise Beyonce. The incident has been water cooler conversation for the past two days, and Swift’s appearance on “The View” was her first opportunity to talk about Sunday’s stunner.

Swift got a standing ovation from the hosts and the entire audience when she walked out.

After showing the video of Kanye’s rude interruption, Swift was asked to recap what was going through her mind at the time. She said, “I think my overall thought process was something like, ‘Wow I can’t believe I won. This is awesome. Don’t trip and fall. I’m going to get to thank the fans, this is so cool—oh, Kanye West is here.” It got laughs from the audience. Swift continued, “Kanye West is here, cool haircut, what are you doing there? And then ouch, and then I guess I’m not going to get to thank the fans.”

“I’m not going to say I wasn’t rattled by it,” said Swift, adding, however, that she had to recompose herself to perform only five minutes later.

She was warmed by all the artists, fans and tweeters who showed their support in the hours following. She said “I never imagined that there were that many people looking out for me.” She added it was “really wonderful to see there were people out there defending me so I didn’t have to.”

Swift then performed music from her album “Fearless,” which clearly she is.

Gossip Cop has the inside dish with what happened, following Kanye West’s rude interruption of Taylor Swift at the MTV Video Music Awards. According to a backstage source involved with the show, right after Kanye’s outburst, the producers “kicked him out.”

We’re also told that once Kanye was escorted out, “security was told not to let him back in” should he try to return.

Our source, who worked on the show, also said that “while Beyonce was backstage, getting ready for her performance, she told the producers that if she won anything” that should wanted to give Swift the opportunity to finally give her acceptance speech – uninterrupted.

There seems to be a bit of controversy surrounding the MTV Video Music Awards in New York on September 13. The problem is MTV would have loved to have some of the biggest names in music – Jay-Z, Rihanna, and Kanye West – perform Jay-Z’s “Run This Town” at the awards show. But the trio is confirmed to perform that song on the first episode of “The Jay Leno Show” across the country in Burbank the next day.

In fact, a source says MTV is irked now that it’s now up in the air which of the megastars will stick around to perform at the VMAs.

So far it looks like Rihanna is a definite no. Gossip Cop is still investigating.
