Amy Winehouse’s parents plan to turn the late singer’s London home into the headquarters for a foundation in her name.

The Amy Winehouse Foundation will be based in the 10-room, $4 million residence in Camden, North London, where the 27-year-old was found dead on July 23.

Its official mission will be announced on September 28.

Amy Winehouse’s father Mitch met with members of Parliament today to lobby for more resources for young people struggling with drug and alcohol problems.

“This isn’t about Amy, because we were in a fortunate position of being able to fund Amy to go into private rehab,” explained Winehouse. “This is about people that can’t afford it.”

Amy Winehouse’s father Mitch handed out some of her clothes and personal effects to fans mourning the late singer outside her London apartment on Thursday.

The surprise gesture came after the older Winehouse came to remove items from his daughter’s residence.

Amy Winehouse’s father Mitch says the fact that his daughter was happy at the time of her death has made his suffering a bit more manageable.

Winehouse said in a statement today, “She was the happiest she has been for years. She was not depressed. She saw [her mom] Janis and [her boyfriend] Reg on Friday and was in good spirits. That night, she was in her room, playing drums and singing.”

He explains, “Knowing that she wasn’t depressed, knowing that she passed away happy — it makes us all feel better.”

Family, friends and music execs said goodbye to Amy Winehouse in North London today, where the singer was remembered in a private funeral before being cremated.

Approximately 150 people attended the service at Edgwarebury Cemetery, including close associates like Kelly Osbourne and Mark Ronson, as well as Winehouse’s boyfriend Reg Traviss.

Amy Winehouse’s parents joined mourners today outside the singer’s London house.

Her father, Mitch, expressed his sincerest thanks to fans, who came to pay their respects by laying flowers, lighting candles and leaving handwritten notes. The singer’s mother Janis, however, broke down in tears at the various displays of remembrance.
