Barbara Walters took to the airwaves Monday morning to slam reports claiming she’s in a “bidding war” with Oprah Winfrey for an exclusive interview with Pippa Middleton.

The rumor, which started in the Mirror and was picked up by outlets like the New York Post and The Daily Beast, claims the “rival chat show heavyweights” are “‘pulling out all the stops’ to secure her as a guest for an hour-long special.”

The Mirror goes on to allege Walters “is pushing bosses to offer a six-figure deal for the chat” with Middleton, who is releasing a party-planning book later this year.

On “The View,” Walters said the reports are completely fabricated.

“It’s not true,” the veteran journalist said. “ABC News does not pay for interviews.”

She added, “To make it clear: Would I like to do the interview? Yes. I think she’s a charming, beautiful girl. Will I pay to do the interview? No.”

And there you have it!

Will the next big elimination from “X Factor” be Steve Jones?

According to reports, the handsome host will be dropped after the show’s first season.

A source tells the Mirror, “Executives at Fox have already decided not to renew his contract and so, short of a miracle happening, it is pretty much a done deal that he will not take part next season.”

The paper notes that Jones was called “utterly irrelevant” by the New York Times, and the Boston Herald wrote that he was “so far in the background he may as well be on another network.”

Despite initial criticism, says the Mirror, “Things haven’t got better.”

Added to this is talk that Nicole Scherzinger, who was supposed to have been the host before the whole Cheryl Cole debacle, may leave the judge’s table to replace Jones.

Gossip Cop reached out to reps for show and creator/judge Simon Cowell, but has yet to hear back.

Meanwhile, a rep for Jones insists, “There have been absolutely no conversations about Steve Jones Leaving ‘The X Factor.’”

On Thursday, one of the three remaining contestants – Melanie Amaro, Chris Rene and Josh Krajcik –  will named the very first winner of “X Factor.”

Though Amy Winehouse’s recent passing is still raw in the minds of many, some outlets are already speculating about a potential film about the late singer’s life.

“Mitch Winehouse has given the green light for Lady Gaga to play his daughter Amy in a planned movie of her life,” reports the Mirror.

According to the British tab, Winehouse’s father thinks Gaga would be the “perfect” choice to portray the “Rehab” songstress on the big screen.

“She would be great,” the Mirror quotes Mitch as saying.

There’s just one problem.

He NEVER said Gaga was tapped for the role.

Mitch even tweeted, “I never said Lady Gaga will play Amy in film,” adding, “Wot a load of rubbish.”

According to the British tab, earlier this week the singer was taken by ambulance to a hospital, where he spent a few hours before returning to his home.

The paper cites a “close family friend” as saying Gibb’s condition is “not good and there is a lot of concern for him.”

“There is ­frustration because Robin has always looked after himself. He doesn’t drink, eats well and exercises daily,” adds the unnamed source.

In a pre-recorded interview with the show, “Living The Life,” airing in the U.K. on Sunday, Gibb talks about the 2003 death of his twin brother Maurice Gibb, who passed away from complications of a twisted intestine.

Robin says it’s “something I haven’t accepted… I just imagine he is out there somewhere and I will bump into him one day.”

Just last month Robin had been hospitalized for abdominal pain and colon inflammation.

“Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart row at Twilight London premiere,” reads the headline of a piece in the Mirror, which goes on to say Pattinson had “a bust-up with girlfriend Kristen Stewart at the London premiere of Breaking Dawn”

The tabloid reports, “It all kicked off when [Pattinson] suggested they do photos with just the two of them. He kept asking Kristen if she was OK and she snapped back, ‘We’ll talk about it later’.”

But that’s not all, according to the Mirror.

The paper claims Stewart then “stormed off” into the theater.

Really?  Stewart didn’t want to pose with Pattinson?

Interestingly, there’s only one story about them fighting and dozen of photos of them together like this.

Regardless, a Gossip Cop source on the scene tells us they “did not fight at all,” and called claims of Stewart refusing to pose with Pattinson “total bulls**t.”

“Eva Longoria annoys Lady Gaga with ham outfit at MTV European Music Awards,” reads the headline of an article in the Mirror.

According to the British tab, when the “Desperate Housewives” star stepped onstage dressed in a ham suit – parodying Lady Gaga’s meat dress – the singing sensation “wasn’t happy.”

The Mirror claims, “Lady Gaga seethed: ‘Why can’t she stop stealing my ideas?’”

Adds the paper’s source, “Gaga didn’t find it funny and said that Eva should find her own gimmicks.”

Really?

Not at all.

In fact, the Mirror’s story is pure baloney.

A source close to Lady Gaga, who was in Budapest and not at the awards show, says the “Poker Face” singer’s reaction was actually the opposite.

“She thought it was hilarious,” a source assures Gossip Cop.

“Dolce and Gabbana want to sign up Rihanna,” reads the headline of a piece in the Mirror, which goes on to explain that they “want the controversial 22-year-old singer as their muse.”

Not surprisingly, gossip’s junkyard, Hollyscoop, picked up the story – without bothering to fact-check – and added, “Look out, Madonna! There’s a younger chick in town who is taking your place!”

Hollyscoop further asserted, Rihanna is “being courted to replace Madge as the face of Dolce & Gabbana.”

For the record, the Mirror piece never mentioned Madonna at all. That was a Hollyscoop creation.

Regardless, Gossip Cop looked into the story, and both the Mirror and Hollyscoop are… wait for it… wrong.

A source close to Rihanna confirms to Gossip Cop the reports are “not true.”

A story making the rounds today is that Madonna was in a foul mood when she recently attended a pre-Oscar party, sponsored by Grey Goose, at the Soho House in Los Angeles.

According to the original Mirror piece, which was picked up everywhere, Madonna demanded that the party’s organizers “fill her glass with her personal favourite Belvedere vodka, instead of the party-sponsoring Grey Goose brand.”

The Mirror claims that when she was informed they were only serving Grey Goose, “all hell broke loose.”

How so?

The paper’s so-called source said, “Madonna was dropping F-bombs like they were going out of fashion… She was clearly up for a drink, but wasn’t prepared to compromise on her vodka choice.”

That’s a very interesting story…. but it never happened.

Gossip Cop spent hours calling various people, who were at or involved with the Soho House, and the story simply isn’t true.

Added Madonna’s rep, “The entire thing is a lie from beginning to end.”

Just because Lindsay Lohan dated Samantha Ronson doesn’t mean she has some sort of fetish for deejays.

Around New Year’s a website reported that Lohan was “spotted getting cozy in St. Barth with DJ Jus Ske” (not true).

And now the The Mirror claims in a headline, “Lindsay Lohan is back into boys with a new man – British DJ Gareth Geno.”

According to the British tabloid, Lohan is “dating British DJ Gareth Geno.”

So what’s the proof?

While Lohan was recently deejaying at a London club, Geno “fed her chips and sorted out her playlist.”

Whoa, call a priest, a florist, and a caterer!

And though the paper reports, “She got cosy with DJ Geno until it was his turn to hit the decks,” the Mirror offers zero evidence of how.

Rather than relying on spotty tabloid reporting, Gossip Cop reached out to Lohan herself. When asked if she was dating Geno, Lohan told Gossip Cop, “Nooo I am not,” adding, “He’s a friend, geez.”

Can’t wait to see the tabs’ next deejay spin with Lohan.

Rihanna never ever said, “I could see myself in a relationship with a girl.”

Nevertheless, the quote was attributed to her, and rumors of her being a lesbian have exploded all over the Internet and onto the pages of numerous newspapers.

The Mirror, for instance, wrote: “Rihanna has revealed she is attracted to women – and would love a fling with Hollywood stunner Megan Fox.”

The article continued, “The Umbrella star – who was badly beaten-up by her ex boyfriend Chris Brown in February – said could see herself with a girlfriend in the future. The Barbadian singer said: ‘All humans are born with the ability to be attracted to both sexes. I mean, I could see myself in a relationship with a girl.’”

And websites like StarPulse similarly reported, under the headline “Rihanna Is Open To A Lesbian Romance,” that she “won’t rule out a same-sex romance,” having said, “All humans are born with the ability to be attracted to both sexes. I could see myself in a relationship with a girl.”

Again, the problem is Rihanna NEVER said those words – Megan Fox did.

In the original interview, upon which all this false information disseminated, Rihanna told the Daily Star – in response to whether she would like to break into acting — “I’d love to be an assassin. Either that or a lesbian. Maybe both! Hey, a gay assassin, there’s nothing hotter than that.”

And when asked who she would like to play opposite, “She purred: ‘Megan Fox – hands down. She’s yummy. She’s hot.’”

Here’s where the (sexual) confusion comes in…

The Daily Star then wrote that Fox “has never been shy about her penchant for… the ladies. She said: ‘All humans are born with the ability to be attracted to both sexes. I mean, I could see myself in a relationship with a girl.’”

Many outlets mistook the “She said” to mean that Rihanna uttered those words when, in fact, it was a quote Fox gave to the October 2008 issue of GQ, though, for full disclosure, the “Transformers” star also prefaced it with “I’m not a lesbian.”

While several outlets out there should be sorry for their wrongly reported stories, Gossip Cop would like to apologize to the guys out there whose TWO fantasies we crushed in one single post.

Rumors about Madonna being “difficult” while recently doing interviews in London have been somewhat exaggerated.

“She left underlings quivering with tension as she filmed a series of interviews,” reports The Mirror.

The British tab claims Madonna thought the area set up for interviews wasn’t up to par, so “she demanded they immediately change the furniture and painstakingly re-rig all the lighting.”

And a source told the Mirror: “She had a string of interviews lined up and seemed to get more fractious as the day wore on.”

Madonna’s rep said this account isn’t true, but acknowledged, “It’s natural to fine tune lighting. It happens at every press junket.”

And that’s 100 percent correct. Gossip Cop spent a good part of the last two decades in front of and behind the cameras, and playing with camera angles and lighting is essentially a given.

“Is love Blooming again for our Jen,” reads a headline in the Mirror, which tries to link Jennifer Aniston and Orlando Bloom.

The article tauntingly asks, “If they’re just good Friends, how come Jennifer Aniston and Orlando Bloom seem so keen not to be seen together?”

Aniston and Bloom both landed in London’s Heathrow airport yesterday, but didn’t want to be photographed together, which caused some journalists and bloggers to speculate that they were hiding more than just their faces.

The Mirror even reports that they “were seen sneaking off together in a car outside.”

Hardly sneaking.

In fact, Aniston and Bloom were spotted later… in Morocco!

They were both at a bash for the re-opening of Marrakech’s famed Hotel La Mamounia.

Oh, one more thing: Bloom was at the party with…  girlfriend Miranda Kerr.

Gossip Cop fully understands what Aniston and Bloom had to contend with. We’re still battling rumors from that same time we were in LAX as Rue McClanahan.

It was bound to happen. Place Lindsay Lohan and Gerard Butler in the same room (or even in just the same country) –– voila! — you have the perfect tabloid tale since they’re both often the subjects of wrongly reported romance rumors.

And that is precisely what was done by the British papers like the Mirror, the Daily Mail, and a slew of bad bloggers.

The Mirror kicked it all off by claiming that, at the opening of the Mazagan Beach Resort in Morocco, Lohan “was locking lips with gorgeous RocknRolla star Gerard.” The tab alleged they were first “dirty dancing,” and “ended up in a corner snogging [kissing], followed by more dancing and flirting.” Next, reported the tab, “we saw them leaving together.”

Here’s what’s true: They were in Morocco.

Here’s what’s not true: Everything else.

Lohan tells Gossip Cop it’s “such a lie!”

And if that’s not enough, better look out, because a rep for Butler told Gossip Cop, “It is completely untrue and we are taking action against these claims.”
