The couple secretly got hitched in New York City in June, shortly after Rounds was diagnosed with a desmoid tumor, a rare disease for which she needed immediate surgery.

Rosie O’Donnell’s fiancee Michelle Rounds is suffering from a desmoid tumor, the former talk show host announced on her blog on Friday.

O’Donnell revealed that Rounds was struck by pain on Mother’s Day, and after wading through a “maze of medical mystery,” they finally received a diagnosis.

The talk show host wrote in her trademark style: ”desmoid tumors odd and curious beasts strong and sneaky a non cancer that acts cancerous.”

The illness has forced the couple to put off their wedding until next summer.

There are a couple of people who are less than thrilled about Rosie O’Donnell‘s new relationship with 40-year-old Michelle Rounds, reports the New York Daily News.

According to the paper, picking up on a piece in this week’s National Enquirer, Rounds’ parents did not know she was gay until O’Donnell told the media they were dating.

Rounds’ father Roger supposedly tells the tabloid, ”It totally hit us out of left field. We only found about Michelle liking girls when all this came out about them a few weeks ago.” Seriously?
