Chris Brown Request To End Supervised Probation Denied By Judge

Despite a glowing progress report, a judge has denied Chris Brown‘s request to end his supervised probation early.

Mark Geragos, the singer’s attorney, went to court Thursday and argued that the star’s good behavior meant he no longer needed to be under the watch of a probation officer.

A progress report released earlier this month said that Brown had “made great strides,” specifically noting he had completed half of his court-ordered community service and complied with required drug testing.

But the positive feedback wasn’t enough to persuade Judge George Lomeli to amend the terms of Brown’s five-year probation, which stems from his 2009 assault on his then-girlfriend Rihanna.

The issue will likely be reviewed at Brown’s next progress hearing on July 10.

In the meantime, he must still report to his probation officer in his home state of Virginia.

As Gossip Cop exclusively reported earlier in the week, the R&B star is set to perform at Sunday’s Grammy Awards, where Rihanna is also expected to take the stage.

Radar is off again about Nicole Richie and Joel Madden being married

UPDATE (8:06 pm): Radar has not only changed its original story — with a new headline “Nicole Richie and Joel Madden Marriage Question Remains” — but they also tried to erase all evidence of their mistake by changing the time stamp on their story from 5:17 pm, which Gossip Cop has in our screen grab (right), to 3:17 pm.

Huh?

But they’re not that clever because they kept the same URL, which STILL reads, “exclusive-lawyer-confirms-nicole-richie-and-joel-madden-are-married.”

Oops.

But there’s more…

In this quickly slapped together rewrite, Radar NOW writes: ”In court Monday Nicole Richie‘s attorney Mark Gregaros referred to Joel Madden as his client’s ‘husband,’” but then, outside of court, “denied Richie and Madden are married.”

Trying to muddy the waters, Radar writes, “So the question remains, are they or aren’t they?”

No question at all: They aren’t.

We’d say good try, but it wasn’t.

Today Radar heralded another one of its exclusives, “Lawyer Says Nicole Richie And Joel Madden Are Married.”

Say what?!

Yes, “RadarOnline.com can exclusively reveal that Nicole Richie and Joel Madden are officially married,” claims the blog.

In fact, the site even states Richie’s lawyer “confirmed to RadarOnline.com in court Monday that the couple are indeed legally hitched.”

Really?!

Well, this isn’t the first time Radar has tried to convince the public that Richie and Madden are married. A month ago they claimed the two had secretly wed – and a month ago Gossip Cop corrected them.

Rumors of their betrothal got so out of hand at the time that Madden took to posting a comment of his band Good Charlotte’s website, stating “NO we didn’t get married.”

Well, it’s time for Gossip Cop to correct Radar for this second — and hopefully last — time.

Nicole Richie and Joel Madden are NOT married. Whatever the attorney said was inaccurate. A source close to Richie tells Gossip Cop, “It was an error on the lawyer’s part.” Talk of them being married, says the impeccable source, is “not true.”

Case closed (at least for now).
