The California Supreme Court has denied Nicollette Sheridan’s appeal in her “Desperate Housewives” wrongful termination case.

It’s the latest setback for the actress, whose years-long legal battle against ABC and Touchstone Television concerns her 2009 firing from “Desperate Housewives” following several seasons.

After two weeks of testimony, a deadlocked jury led the judge in Nicollette Sheridan’s “Desperate Housewives” case to declare a mistrial on Monday.

The jurors, who had been deliberating since Wednesday, told Judge Elizabeth Allen White this morning that they were still stuck at 8-4 in favor of Sheridan’s claim that she was wrongfully fired from the ABC series.

Nicollette Sheridan‘s battery claim was dismissed from her lawsuit against “Desperate Housewives” creator Marc Cherry and ABC on Tuesday.

Judge Elizabeth Allen White ruled that the prosecution did not sufficiently meet the standard of proof for battery.

Marc Cherry, the “Desperate Housewives” creator and executive producer, who “hit” Nicollette Sheridan in 2008, took the stand today and tesfitied that it was nothing more than a tap.

He further told the court that he absolutely had not “walloped” her, as Sheridan had claimed.

“Desperate Housewives” will end after this season, ABC officially confirmed today.

“All good things eventually come to an end, and in the eighth and final season, the stakes for everyone on Wisteria Lane are at an all-time high,” the network said in a release.

Back in April, after Nicollette Sheridan was let go from “Desperate Housewives,” the actress sued the show’s creator Marc Cherry, accusing him of having once hit her on the set. Today, Sheridan agreed to drop the physical abuse charge in exchange for her not having to undergo a physical and psychological examination. Interesting, right?
