Madonna called into Ryan Seacrest’s radio show on Friday to talk about her Super Bowl performance, and the subject turned (of course) to M.I.A. flipping her middle finger for the world to see.

It turns out that Madonna, who didn’t even know about the gesture until she was in an elevator to leave Lucas Oil Stadium, is not so pleased with her guest performer’s behavior.

Madonna’s Super Bowl halftime show has gotten a lot of attention (because it was the Super Bowl halftime show), but it pretty much went off without controversy.

Until people pointed out that guest performer M.I.A. had given viewers the middle finger.

Madonna was in charge of this year’s Super Bowl halftime show – and she brought along some friends.

LMFAO, Nicki Minaj, M.I.A. and Cee Lo Green assisted the Material Girl at various points of the 12-minute performance, which began with her entering like Cleopatra and singing “Vogue.”

M.I.A. has released “27,” a demo dedicated to the young age when a number of music stars – including Winehouse, Kurt Cobain, Jimi Hendrix and Janis Joplin – have died.
